Well, let me just state the process I passed thru whn registering...

1. Joined a branch of NSE (Apapa Branch)
a. Paid registration fee
b. Paid annual subscription

2. Joined a division of NSE (Civil Division)
a. Upgraded my status (from student membership to corporate membership).
b. Paid for annual subscription

3. Applied for NSE corporate membership
a. Paid application fee

4. Printed several forms filled both by myself and my sponsors (they must be financially up-to-date)

5. Report writing and printing

6. Paid to attend workshops
a. National workshop
b. Branch workshop

7. Attended Report defense

8. National examination

9. When passed, paid like #58,500 for election/admission letter n certificate at National level

10. Paid #65,000 for induction at local level.

After collection of the election letter, I proceeded to applying for COREN.

11. Paid #12,000 as application fee

12. Paid #1,500 for transcript verification

13. Uploaded necessary documents including summary of report used for NSE reg.

After approval by Council,

14. Paid #36,500 for seal, stamp and certificate

15. Paid #35,000 for this year's COREN Assembly (compulsory for all newly approved Engineers)

After reading every comment, I can't but ask the Igbo and perhaps SS youths why the hate and provocative remarks.


Dangote is a businessman and he has made a business decision of situating his refinery in Lagos by the seaside in a trade free zone. I am sure even the less literate amongst us can understand why without me having to waste so much time enumerating the reasons.


My brothers in the east and ss, what have u done to fix ur home? What have the elites and ur leaders done to do same? Why blame other regions for your pitfalls?


I tell you (easterner and s/southerners), if you keep up this hate game, progress is but a mirage. Each region in this blessed country of ours has its own comparative advantage that if developed.


S/southerners, before the oil we all lived and survived on the groundnuts, palm oil, cocoa, cotton et al. Without asking where it came from. That the above listed are no more is becos of the collective shortsightedness of our leaders past.


Nigeria is ours! Let's stop the hating, it makes us all look incredibly silly globally. Nigeria is not the only country with people of various religious views, tribes and languages.

I finished with a BEng in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering. I am also at the tail end of my MSc program in Environmental Engineering.

I have been working as a Building services (M & E) and Environmental Engineer for the last two years.

Can I submit my technical report focused on my work experience alone? And what COREN seal will I be considered for? I have heard only rumors, I would like fact. Thanks

I can assure you that most residents can't afford this.

Point of correction. .its not an offence to pipe wash and waste water to public drains however it's an offence to pipe your toilet to a public drain. I stand to be corrected.

Without mincing words, it is wrong to pipe into the public drain ("gutter".).

Under normal environmental protection law such as NESREA's or USEPA, both soil waste and domestic wastewater ought to be piped into either a public sewer line or septic tank cum soak-away pit.

It is important to note that the septic tank and SAP work together. The septic tank works as an anaerobic digestic (thus the need to vent it to release CH4 gas and some others). The septic tank digests the solid and other putricible wastes from the kitchen. There's a "baffle" inside the septic tank that allows for hydraulic flocculation and settling of sludge (treated sewage) whilst encouraging movement of wastewater into the SAP.

However sir, the size of your septic tank, SAP and soil absorption rate is very important. Depending on the population equivalent (PE), the size of your septic tank and SAP would vary. You could discourage odours by piping kitchen waste to its own manhole and venting each toilet WC soil waste stack.

Another option is to have a cesspool (cesspit) for the wastewater only from bathrooms, laundry and kitchen.
