Bobloco:According to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended: If a member of a House of Assembly of a State who was elected on the platform of a political party leaves that political party before the expiration of their term, they are required to vacate their seat in the Assembly. However, there is an exception if the member can prove that their departure was due to a division in the party or a merger of the party with another political party. Here is the relevant provision: “The tenure of the seat of a member of a House of Assembly of a State shall become vacant if: (a) he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected; Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored.” This provision can be found under Section 109 (1)(g) . there is no explicit mention of Section 109 being “self-executory.” A law is considered “self-executory” when it requires no further legislation or action to be implemented. In the case of Section 109 of the Nigerian Constitution (regarding the tenure of House of Assembly members when they change political parties), it appears that additional action is necessary to enforce the provision. As per the section, after a member leaves their party, the seat is deemed vacant. However, it requires further steps to enforce the vacancy, such as the involvement of the House of Assembly or a court ruling. Therefore, Section 109 is not entirely self-executory because it relies on additional procedural steps to take effect. |

Thank you so much for this source. I didn’t even know that there was a google trend out there. Lolz. However, the Past 7days is not a quality sample. I queried the last 12months, 90days etc and the results were more representative. Nevertheless, it is worth keeping an eye on the developing trend in the next couple of months. Thanks once more for sharing google trend on here. I can think of a few more important applications. Cheers mate H100: |

emmanuelbrown26:You can not say the war is ‘uncalled’ for, if the US and its NATO allies keep expanding eastwards towards the territory of another World (and nuclear) power. NATO is no UNESCO or peacekeeping mission. NATO was created to counter Russia. Ukraine witnessed a bloody coup in 2014, and has been hurting folks in Eastern Ukraine since then but the US, EU and NATO never saw anything wrong with it. Why? Because the central government of Ukraine are considered friendly, due to their anti-Russian disposition and their own interests. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zT6mCsJN1-w With regards our own local politics, no comments. The more you look the less you understand. I have given up on Naija politics. |

Hisbah21:Get educated before you call someone a dictator. Copied copied copied US invaded Cuba in 1960s because Soviet wanted to build military bases in Cuba and brought about the Cuba missile crisis. Cuba is few miles away from US. So why should NATO and US build a military base in Ukraine which has a long border with Russia? Putin is not stupid. As it stands now NATO and US are unable to launch direct attack on Russia because of the distance. Putin knows if NATO and US enters Ukraine and establish military base there Russia is finish. Additionally, NATO and US breached the 1990 treaty which prevents NATO and US from expanding eastwards from the then East Germany. Today NATO and US are almost everywhere in Europe including Croatia, Poland and other places that are closer to Russia. Getting closer to Russia means NATO and US missiles can directly hit Russia. Putin is not stupid. Putin had been complaining ever since when those expansions began. No one listened. Let's take a closer look at NATO and US activities recently: 1) Killed Ghadaffi of Libya for no reason. Libya conflict was entirely internal. Libya a once peaceful and prosperous country today lies in ruins with no sober government. 2) Killed Sadaam of Iraqi and destroyed that beautiful country; lying that Iraqi had weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons were found. Today Iraqi lies in ruins with no sober government. 3) Went to Syria and nearly overthrew Asaad had it not being for Russia. Syria lies in ruin but Asaad is in tact while that country is now the platform for terrorists. Syria conflict is/was entirely an internal problem. 4) Went to a peaceful Afghanistan after the Russians left. Today Afghanistan is a total mess. If NATO and US not checked they will wake up any morning and decide to change a government anywhere anytime in this world. My fear: NATO and US has started sending military logistics to Ukraine. This is dangerous. It may lead to the justification by Russia that NATO and US wants to enter Ukraine so that it can launch attacks on Russia. And when this happens China, India, Syria, Iraqi etc and the bad boy N. Korea those staunched allies to Russia will support Russia. N.Korea in fact has started last Saturday by testing a ballistic missiles. It's like we are on the eve of a THIRD WORLD WAR. The WAY out: To me is for NATO and US to respect the treaty they SIGNED not to expand eastwards towards Russia...i.e they withdraw all the way to Germany or better still just stop were they are right now. You can't be piling war armouries in front of my veranda with the aim of attacking me and you expect me to throw picnic for that. This bitter truth you will not read or see in the western media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zT6mCsJN1-w |
Very good summary. Are you a journalist? Lolz CatANDratTHEORY: |

Wow. This is a really expensive undertaking. The roads even need serious earth stabilisation on the sides. See the amount of steel members on the bridge as well. Na wa oo. South south roads need serious money! |

Hmmm… everyone has their own story as well. O gba enu tan |
Macphenson:With all due respect, This has absolutely no relationship with Religion. The Reckless Police officers from the Governor had no right to abduct him as we can see from the action of the Commissioner. There was clearly no due process followed in this case. I believe the first point of call here should be the Governor, he must have ordered or at the very least instigated the arrest because the CSO works with (and in the Nigerian context, for) him. The Imo State Commissioner has done the right thing by ordering the arrest of the reckless CSO and his cronies. By the way, the CSO from accounts was not even at the church, he was only point by Uche Nwosu under suspicion. I am a muslim in fact and I do not believe that it is right to describe any one person in a derogatory manner based on: religion, tribe, physical attributes, and other characteristics due to their actions. We need to hold individuals responsible for their actions without the sentiments. Let’s learn to live above sentimentalism. I believe we can do better. I know you could be upset by the actions of the CSO and his men but it has nothing to do with their tribe, religion, or otherwise. We can express opinions without lowering our moral standards. NB: The Nigeria Police need a great deal of training on public relations, value system, and common sense. But i believe we will get there one day. #OneNigeria #LetPeaceReign |
Michael Carrick has decided to step down as First Team Coach and leave the club following the conclusion of his spell as caretaker Manager shortly after leading Manchester United to a 3-2 victory over Arsenal FC. John Murtough, Football Director, said: “Michael leaves with the sincerest thanks and best wishes of everyone at Manchester United after 15 years of exceptional service to the club as a player and as a coach. While we are sad to see him go, we respect and understand Michael’s decision. “He will always be known as one of the finest midfielders in the history of Manchester United, and, more recently, as an excellent coach who has worked tirelessly under two managers to help develop the strong squad which Ralf will now take charge of. “We are grateful for the steady leadership Michael has shown through this period of managerial transition, and, while he is now stepping away from day-to-day involvement, he will always be welcome back as a legend of the club.” https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/official-statement-as-michael-carrick-leaves-manchester-united-2-december-2021 Many had expected that Michael Carrick, Mike Phelan, and Fletcher would follow recently dismissed Ex-Manager of the Club, Ole Gunnar Solskjær out the door after a run of bad results on the pitch.
