As at Saturday May 17th, 2025, we cannot believe that in this present Nigeria there is a road as this bad, we made to understand that it is a Federal road, but Osun state Government, under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke why can’t you do something as other States do? Either repair it and task Federal Government Or call on FG for immediate action. The question we never stopped asking “why is it that the worst road situation is the ones traced down to roads leading to the state capital, Osogbo Osun state from Oyo state?” what is happening? Right from the former Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, Ex- Governor Gboyega Oyetola and to the incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Highway needs urgent attention…. When will Governor Adeleke come to the rescue of the users of this highway? Passengers and motorists are waiting. State Government’s reaction The Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed while responding to questions on the situation of the road, said the Governor will still use the existing contractor awarded the contract by former Governor Oyetola. The contractor was said to have been paid mobilization fee by the ex- governor. He added that the contractor have been remobilized to the site for the completion of Osogbo-Iwo Road. This includes Iwo Township roads in which mapping and costing of properties in the right of way will give way, have almost been completed for the takeoff of the project. Ondo West APC leaders set to petition Ganduje over Adetimehin-led anti-party activities In a partisan democratic settings as ours, the beauty of political participation and party arrangement is such that all hands must be on deck for the actualization of common goals and objectives in line with the provision of the party constitution. As a matter of fact, no organ of the party or whichever individual must be seen to wield so much undue influence on constituted authority or structure to such extent that puts the party in a situation of chaos, disarray, and set it along the precipice. In the case of the ill-motivated and sordid endorsement by a set of out-going ward chairmen who find it difficult to stomach the success of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the polls despite their obvious antagonism speaks to the unfortunate posturing and the use of party structure in such a way that betrays the letter and intent of the party’s constitution, rules, and conventions. It is an open secret that a particular relegated political leader in Ondo West Local Government who have since lost credibility and influence beyond redemption but clinging desperately at the influence of the state party chairman to unduly undermine the party and cause chaos. In clear contravention of the provisions of the party constitution which says: Article 21 (vi) – Prohibits any member from engaging in dishonest practices or conducting themselves in a manner likely to bring the party into disrepute, hatred, or contempt, or to engage in anti-party activities. 2. Article 9 (i) – Obligates all party members to remain loyal and to refrain from acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute or causing division. It is only natural that all party officials maintain strict neutrality, avoid using their positions to influence the emergence of candidates, and uphold the principles of fairness and internal democracy. It has become an eyesore and an aberration that doesn’t take any semblance with common-sense or any known principle of sportsmanship, decorum, and adherence to organizational rules and objective. On this note, we call on the State party chairman to rein-in on any ill-motivated political leader trying to soil his name and put his office to disrepute by occasioning or sponsoring an endorsement that clearly runs against the letters and spirit of the party’s constitution. It only makes absolute sense that all stakeholders play by the rules and ensure that the party remains an indivisible entity working along clearly stated objectives.

Silence, they say, can be golden—but in the case of Engr. Ade Adetimehin, it is becoming the iron chain tethering the APC in Ondo State to a crumbling moral cliff. The recent drama unraveling in Ondo West, where nine ward chairmen are openly canvassing support for Senator Adegbonmire ahead of the APC primary election, has exposed the festering rot that has long plagued the party under Adetimehin’s watch. That he has chosen to fold his arms in the face of this blatant abuse of party regulations is not just a failure of leadership; it is an insult to the principles of internal democracy. Adetimehin, nearing the twilight of his eight-year reign as party chairman, is proving that longevity in office does not always translate to wisdom or fairness. It is no longer a secret that these erring chairmen are acting under his nod of approval—an endorsement stealthily delivered through his close ally, Hon. Mrs. Fagbemi, who has become the shadow regent of the APC in Ondo West. If Fagbemi is the visible hand of control, then Adetimehin is the puppeteer cloaked in silence, orchestrating loyalty to a preferred aspirant in broad daylight while the rest of the party watches in horror. What justification could exist for the chairman of a ruling party to keep mute while ward officials openly violate the constitution of the party by campaigning when INEC is yet to declare campaigns open? The silence is deafening, the complicity disgraceful. Rather than calling these errant officials to order, Adetimehin has provided them an invisible shield, confirming fears that he is no longer a fair umpire, but a biased conductor in a one-sided political orchestra. Under his leadership, the APC in Ondo has transformed from a thriving political institution into a fiefdom where loyalty to the king matters more than loyalty to truth. Grassroots voices have been muzzled, alternative opinions buried, and transparency traded for manipulation. His repeated silence in the face of corruption has become his signature—an echo of indifference that reverberates through every ward, every unit, every faithful who once believed in the purity of the party. Party stalwarts are whispering louder now: how can a man who cannot rein in nine chairmen be trusted to unify an entire party for victory? Although, these ward chairmen never worked for Ayedatiwa during Primaries. They were merely planted within excos as loyalists to him and Hon.Lola Fagbemi. The Ondo West saga has lifted the veil from Adetimehin’s leadership, revealing not a steward but a schemer—one who clings to power, not to serve, but to secure personal relevance through anointed proxies. What stings most is the barefaced defiance of process. These chairmen, emboldened by Adetimehin’s silence, act like royalty, not representatives. Their open allegiance to Adegbonmire—well before any campaign window—has mocked the very essence of party discipline. And the man who should have blown the whistle is comfortably seated in a self-built tower of silence, watching the house he built collapse in slow motion. It is no longer about Adetimehin’s years in office—it is about the legacy he leaves behind. The people have had enough. The masquerade has danced too long on the village square. His leadership, once held in cautious respect, has now become a metaphor for impunity, partisanship, and tactical sabotage. As the APC prepares for another defining moment in its history, one truth must echo across its structures: if this party must rise again in Ondo, it must do so without the weight of Adetimehin's faltering hand. The fire that once fueled hope has now become smoke choking the party’s future.

A Call for Accountability In Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency: Two Years In Office … Who Collected Fessywest Aide’s Pen? Hon. Akingbaso Festus, popularly known as Fessywest, was elected into the 10th House of Representatives on February 25, 2023. A politician who once tested his popularity within the PDP and Ondo State at large, Fessywest served as the Deputy Governorship candidate alongside Agboola Ajayi under the PDP. However, the ticket failed to win in their own local government area or any other LGA in the state, resulting in a humiliating 18–0 defeat to APC’s Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Dr Olayide Adelami on November 16, 2024. The outcome effectively downgraded their political relevance. Success, they say, makes a statement, failure makes excuses. For over two years now, Fessywest’s aides have resorted to the same tired tactics: online rants, suppression of dissent, and attempts to silence constituents asking legitimate questions about their representative’s performance. While the Honourable Member fraternizes with APC ministers and courts the leadership of the ruling party, an obvious prelude to his defection, his aides have become notorious for social media bullying. They attack residents who dare to question the Hon. Member’s performance, as if someone had snatched a sacred pen from their hands. The truth is clear: Fessywest and his camp know the PDP no longer offers them a future, especially as the party continues to disintegrate in Ondo State. When residents of Ifedore local government asked for a list of facilitated projects, his camp looked away. When asked for video evidence of the bill he sponsored or infrastructural achievements(project) within the constituency, they responded with threats and insults. Engage Hon. Fessywest intellectually, and he disappears. Constituents are simply demanding clarity, timelines and accountability. With 2027 already casting its political shadows, and defections across party lines becoming the norm (most notably into the APC), transparency is no longer optional. When questions were raised about the dormant Civic Centre in Idanre, Fessywest’s team frowned, not out of concern for development, but because their ambition, not service, keeps them awake at night. They now prefer to lounge in echo chambers, surrounded only by sycophants who sing praises from dawn till dusk. Two years in, the people of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency are left with misrepresentation, legislative dormancy, and a trail of wasted opportunities and the clock keeps ticking. ©️ Concerned Citizen

By Wale from Ijare For years, Ifedore local government politicians were known for their drive, ambition, and ability to rally the people with clear visions of what they could achieve. For the record, they dominated Idanre politically, securing 16 years of representation in our federal constituency compared to Idanre local government's 12 years. Back then, Ifedore leaders told the people what they had to offer, and their conviction won hearts and votes. But times have changed, and what we see today in Ifedore is a disturbing trend of lazy politics that relies on empty slogans rather than substance. In recent years, Ifedore politicians have resorted to manipulative tactics, hiding behind the “lokan” slogan to mask their lack of vision. Instead of presenting concrete plans to uplift the people of Idanre and Ifedore federal Constituency, they lean on divisive catchphrases like “Igbara Oke lokan” or “Ifedore lokan.” This lazy approach to politics is not just disappointing—it’s a betrayal of the trust of the people. Since 2023, we’ve seen this play out. An ADC candidate used the “Igbara Oke lokan” slogan, and despite another Igbara Oke indigene being on the ballot for the House of Assembly, the people fell for the manipulation. Now, as we look towards 2027 elections, the same lazy politicians are at it again, chanting “Ifedore lokan” instead of telling us what they plan to do for our constituency. Let’s be clear: The past representatives from Ifedore local government have little to show for their 16 years in office. No tangible development, no lasting legacy. Their failure has left Ifedore LG stagnant, yet the new crop of politicians seems content to repeat the same mistakes, banking on slogans to win votes. This is not leadership—it’s selfishness. These politicians are not here for the people; They’re here for their own gain. Contrast this with Idanre. You’ll never hear an Idanre politician shouting “Idanre lokan” because they don’t need to. They let their competence and track record speak for them. Fact Check: The last time an Idanre man represented our federal constituency, we saw real work—development that touched both Idanre and Ifedore. That’s what leadership looks like: action, not empty words. Ifedore politicians need to wake up. The people of Idanre and Ifedore are wiser now. We’re tired of being manipulated by slogans that lead to nothing. If you want our votes in 2027, come with a plan. Tell us what you’ll do to improve our roads, schools, hospitals, and economy. Show us you’re here to serve, not to exploit. The “lokan” gimmick won’t work this time—it can’t work. We deserve better, and we demand better. To my fellow constituents in Idanre and Ifedore Federal constituency, let’s hold these politicians accountable. Let’s reject lazy politics and demand leaders who will deliver. The future of our constituency depends on it. Wale from Ijare #IfedoreDeservesBetter #NoMoreLokan #CompetenceOverSlogans

Abiola Makinde's Giant Strides And Vision To Lead Ondo Central Senatorial District In 2027 As of recent in 2025, Hon. Abiola Peter Makinde has not explicitly outlined a specific mission and vision statement tailored exclusively for the Ondo Central Senatorial District for the year 2027 in publicly available records. However, based on his track record as a federal lawmaker representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency, his political activities, and his expressed commitments, we can infer and construct a detailed exploration of what his mission and vision might entail should he pursue a senatorial ambition for Ondo Central in 2027. This analysis draws from his demonstrated priorities, leadership style, and the developmental needs of the Ondo Central Senatorial District, which includes areas such as Akure North, Akure South, Ifedore, Idanre, Ondo East, and Ondo West. CONTEXTUAL BACKGROUND Hon. Abiola Makinde is a seasoned politician and financial management expert currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Known for his grassroots approach and populist ideology, he has earned the nickname "Father of Empowerment" due to his focus on uplifting the poor and creating opportunities for the youth. His political journey includes significant roles such as Caretaker Chairman of Ondo West Local Government (2013–2015), National Board Member of the Nigeria Literacy Commission (2014–2015), and Director-General of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s successful 2024 gubernatorial campaign. His legislative achievements, such as facilitating the upgrade of Adeyemi College of Education to a university and advocating for infrastructure projects like the dualization of the Akure-Ondo-Ore express road, underscore his commitment to education, infrastructure, and economic development. Given this background, Makinde’s potential mission and vision for Ondo Central in 2027 would likely build on his existing "WEALTH" agenda (Water, Education, Agriculture, Light, Training, and Health), which he expanded in his second term to include Entertainment as a driver of employment and commerce. For the senatorial district, this vision would be tailored to address the unique challenges and opportunities of the region, which includes the state capital, Akure, and surrounding areas with a mix of urban and rural dynamics. MISSION: Empowering Ondo Central for Sustainable Progress Makinde’s mission for Ondo Central Senatorial District in 2027 would likely center on empowering the people through inclusive governance, economic opportunity creation, and sustainable development. His approach would emphasize bringing governance closer to the grassroots, ensuring that the diverse needs of urban centers like Akure and rural communities like Idanre are met. This mission would be rooted in his belief that collective effort and inclusivity are the bedrock of progress, as seen in his consistent calls for unity within the APC and his emphasis on stakeholder engagement. KEY ELEMENTS OF THIS MISSION MIGHT INCLUDE: 1. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT: Leveraging his experience in financial management and empowerment programs, Makinde would aim to tackle unemployment and poverty by fostering job creation through initiatives like the Ekiwood Movie Village, which he pioneered in 2024 to boost the entertainment industry and employ youths. For 2027, this could expand into a broader economic strategy targeting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agriculture, and tourism, key sectors in Ondo Central. 2. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT: Building on his success with the Akure-Ondo-Ore road dualization, Makinde’s mission would prioritize improving connectivity and access across the district. This could involve advocating for more federal projects, such as upgrading rural roads, expanding electrification, and enhancing water supply systems—core components of his WEALTH agenda. 3. EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: With his history of upgrading educational institutions and sponsoring indigent students abroad, Makinde’s mission would likely focus on transforming Ondo Central into an educational hub. This could mean pushing for more tertiary institutions, vocational training centers, and scholarship programs to equip the youth for a competitive future. 4. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: His grassroots approach suggests a mission to amplify the voices of constituents, ensuring policies reflect their needs. This could involve regular town hall meetings, empowerment workshops, and partnerships with local leaders to address issues like healthcare access and environmental sustainability. VISION: A Thriving, Progressive Ondo Central by 2027 Makinde’s vision for Ondo Central Senatorial District by 2027 would likely paint a picture of a region that is economically vibrant, socially cohesive, and of infrastructural advancement. This vision would align with his progressive ideals and the APC’s broader goals for Ondo State, while addressing the specific aspirations of the district’s diverse population. KEY PILLARS OF THIS VISION MIGHT INCLUDE: ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION AND JOB CREATION: Makinde would envision Ondo Central as a hub of economic activity beyond its current reliance on agriculture and civil service employment. By 2027, he might aim to establish the district as a center for creative industries (e.g., expanding Ekiwood into a national brand), agribusiness innovation, and technology-driven enterprises. This would reduce youth unemployment and stimulate local commerce, reflecting his commitment to empowerment. WORLD-CLASS INFRASTRUCTURE: His vision could see Akure and other parts of the district boasting modern transportation networks, reliable electricity, and clean water systems. Inspired by his infrastructure advocacy, Makinde might push for federal and state collaboration to dualize more roads, such as those linking Akure to Idanre and If (e.g., Akure-Idanre road), and ensure rural communities are not left behind. EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE: By 2027, Makinde might envision Ondo Central as a leader in educational attainment, with institutions like the newly upgraded Adeyemi Federal University of Education serving as a model. His vision could include digital classrooms, skill acquisition centers, and international partnerships to prepare students for global competitiveness. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: Recognizing the environmental challenges in Ondo Central, such as deforestation and erosion in rural areas, Makinde’s vision might incorporate sustainability initiatives. This could involve promoting renewable energy (e.g., solar power, a past focus), reforestation projects, and climate-resilient agriculture to protect the district’s natural resources. SOCIAL HARMONY AND INCLUSION: Makinde’s vision would likely emphasize a united Ondo Central where ethnic, religious, and social divides are bridged through inclusive policies. This could mean targeted programs for women, youth, and marginalized groups, ensuring no one is left behind in the district’s progress. IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY TO REALIZE THIS MISSION AND VISION. Makinde would likely employ a multi-faceted strategy such as: LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY: As a senator, he would use his position to secure federal funding and policies favoring Ondo Central, building on his track record of successful motions in the House. PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS: Collaborating with private investors, as seen with Ekiwood, to fund large-scale projects like industrial parks or tourism hubs. COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION: Leveraging his grassroots popularity to rally constituents around shared goals, ensuring buy-in and participation in development projects. YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: Expanding his empowerment programs to include mentorship, microfinance, and leadership training, targeting the district’s vibrant youth and female populations. CHALLENGES AND CONSIDERATIONS Makinde’s ambitions for 2027 would not be without challenges. Political competition within the APC and from opposition parties, funding constraints, and the need to balance urban and rural priorities could test his resolve. However, his proven ability to navigate party crises (e.g., his defection to ADC in 2019 and subsequent return to APC) and deliver results suggests he is equipped to overcome these hurdles. CONCLUSION Hon. Abiola Makinde’s mission and vision for Ondo Central Senatorial District in 2027 would likely revolve around transforming the region into a beacon of empowerment, progress, and inclusivity. By expanding his WEALTH agenda, focusing on economic diversification, infrastructure, education, and sustainability, he could position Ondo Central as a model senatorial district in Nigeria. While this projection is based on his past actions and current trajectory, his official stance for 2027 would depend on evolving political dynamics and his formal declaration of intent. Nonetheless, his history suggests a deep commitment to the people, making his potential senatorial bid a promising prospect for Ondo Central’s future. #THINKHAM Ondo State Central Senatorial District. DAMILOLA Omosebi popularly known as NINODI will finally release his first Single titled; HOLY SPIRIT on Friday, March 28, 2025. NINODI who has many unreleased songs to his credit decided to seek the Holy Spirit as his first companion before others will follow. He told Journalists how he started his music in the heydays while following his father to the choir practice at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Lagos. NINODI who told our Correspondent that his style of music (genre) is gospel and inspirational songs hailed from Ilutitun-Osoro in Ondo State. "Oluwadamilola, known artistically as Ninodi is a Nigerian-born gospel and more; singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Lagos but originally from Ikale in Ondo state. Nino’s love and passion for music began at a very tender age as his father who was a choir master in a C.A.C church took him to church every Saturday evenings for choir rehearsals. Though sometimes bored because his mind was mostly on the football pitch, he later fell in love with music. Nino grew up listening to both gospel and secular artists. Songs of artists such as Yinka Ayefele, Lanre Teriba (Atorise), Beautiful Nubia, Commander Ebenezer Obey rocked his father’s radio day and night that he could remember every lyric of these songs and sing them sometimes while asleep. Music Style Nino’s music blends traditional gospel with contemporary styles, creating a unique sound that resonates with listeners worldwide. His soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics aim to inspire, uplift and bring people closer to their faith. My journey to ‘Holy Spirit’ My debut gospel single, “Holy Spirit”, is a reflection of my spiritual journey and personal growth. The song was inspired by my experiences with faith, love and perseverance. I wrote “Holy Spirit” during a challenging time in my life, and it became my beacon of hope and strength. Musical Influences My music is inspired by lots of gospel and contemporary artists. I grew up loving innocent Idibia 2face now 2baba and lots of Afrobeat artists. So, I started as a secular artist before I eventually found the light, I even released some secular songs including a cover for a popular song “woju”. Now I feel fulfilled creating music that inspires, uplifts, and connects with people on a deeper level. Right now, my style of music is influenced by Timi Dakolo… I want to be able to sing about gospel, love and life. In fact, I want to sing about all of the things that God stands for. On February 23rd, 2023, in a surprising incident involving two young women has unsettled the community of Ile Ife in Osun State, Nigeria. The incident, which took place on Thursday at Gity Royale Suites, has led to the local declaration of the women, identified as Oyedepo Deborah and Olaniyan Folake, as wanted over alleged homosexual activities. Hotel staff reportedly discovered the women engaged in what was described as “erotic activities,” including kissing and handling, and subsequently notified community elders and the police. These actions, which are considered taboo in Yoruba culture and criminalised under Nigerian law, prompted immediate local and legal action. The Nigeria Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013 criminalises any form of same-sex marriage, civil union, or public display of affection between persons of the same sex. The law prescribes penalties for involvement in, or witnessing of, such relationships. In reaction to the incident, Oyedepo Deborah and Olaniyan Folake, both in their mid-20s, have reportedly fled the community to avoid arrest and legal consequences. The situation remains under investigation as authorities continue their search for the women. By: Ayomide Mubarak "Under their watch, the Sunshine state has become colourless, so much that, in the history of election in the state, this is the first time , members of the ruling party would defect to the opposition party en-masse and on weekly basis too" Before now, Ondo State enjoyed a very high commendation, as one of the state's in the country, with a standard health delivery system. Time was when the state won laurels upon laurels, over it's solid and enviable health delivery mechanism. But as usual of the All Peoples Congress (APC), what used to be a bragging right for the state has now become a source of scorn for the supposedly Sun Shine state, whose light has drastically dimmed, in the hand of it's present driver, Governor Luck Aiyedatiwa. Indications that the state may have become a victim of a bad administrator emerged with the collapse of the Mother and Child health care program bequeathed to the APC government by the preceding People's Democratic Party. One of the few legacies of the PDP, which many believed would survive the amateurish and docile government of the APC in the state, was the global standard health facilities, located in Ondo city with complex in Akure, the state capital. Recent development in the state, especially under the headship of Aiyedatiwa, has however proved that, the situation with the state's health system, as it is with other areas of service may have been bastardized beyond redemption. A father who just lost his son in the Akure facility of the State's teaching hospital equivalent, has written a strongly worded and emotional petition over the death, indicting the management of the facility and the state over it's poor handling of institutions in the state. Demanding justice over the death of his son, the father of the 300-level student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in his petition, described the mess that has become of what should ordinarily be life saving institutions, but have suddenly become killer institutions, midwife by a trial and error governor. Taking the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure (UNIMEDTH) where his son died, to the cleaners, the father, Prince Bola Adebobola, alleged negligence of a consultant doctor at the Ondo State government owned.hospital , as well as other unimaginable occurrences leading to the death. In the petition, addressed to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr Adesina Akintan, and copied to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Banji Ajaka and the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Adebobola demanded justice. Registering the gravity of the loss on him, the mourning father expressed his pain and heart brokenness, as he narrated that the consultant assigned to treat his son for malaria didn't show up until the fourth day of his son's admission. Even when he eventually arrived, the consultant discontinued the treatment being administered on the son by a makeshift personnel who took up his case when the boy's laid in the hospital unattended to, and had some non professionals administered blood on the son at night with their phone touch light when the electricity supply to the hospital went off at night , the solar power panel in the hospital has also run down while there was no diseal available to power the complex Mikano generator and they have to proceed with the blood transfusion on the young man with their phone touch light (Sad). Adebobola narrated how the consultant in charge of his son demanded on request, that he ( the father ) had to arrange for vehicle to attend to his son. The bereaved father said he had to actually arrange for a Uber driver for the consultant to be conveyed to the hospital, to treat his son. Added to the ridiculous case of the consultant, was the non functional laboratory gadgets of the hospital and nonavailability of oxygen equipments needed to accelerate the son's recovery as they told the father of the boy that all the oxygen in the hospital has been exhausted and no replacement yet in the hospital as at the time the boy needs it to survive . As the ailing boy's situation was becoming hopeless, he was moved to Mother and Child hospital on referral, also in Akure where the son got one but after all these , the young man eventually died at the UNIMED hospital facility because of lack of medical attention. Indications have since emerged, that the case above, is just one out of many of such avoidable deaths, that have occured but were not amplified because the victims have no voice. It is appalling that with the humongous fund available to the Ondo state government, it could not maintain its health facilities, while insecurity reign supreme, good educational system, transportation, infrastructure are lacking. Whatever happened to the beautiful city and clean hygienic environment bequeathed to the APC, needless one mention again, that equipping health facilities in the state has never been on the mind of the present APC government in Ondo State. It is important to mention that whatever mess and neglect, institutions in the state may be experiencing now, it only mirrors the lack of idea and sense of service on the part of the administrators. Under their watch, the Sunshine state has become so colourless, so much that, in the history of election in the state, this is the first time , members of the ruling party would defect to the opposition party en-masse and on weekly basis too. The message is clear that the Aiyedatiwa led goverment is a disappointment. That it's valueless and will be shameful on the part of the people , to continue to follow one, who does not know what it takes to represent and serve the people. Note : The pix of the young boy is attached with this report.

His words; “We have to hold the LG chairman accountable and that is why Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) are invited, because a good leadership start with credible election”. “What is important is that we want to have what we call a civic engagement, young people holding their leaders to account, young people has been asking questions about development, about the funding, about their accountability “At the grassroot, so from there we will be able to have effective leadership at the local government level, then that one will translate into development at the state and at the National level. “But in recent times, we realized that development has died in the Local government level and then that’s why people call the attention of the state government for duties that are constitutionally under the local government. They call attention of Law makers, when you call the attention of federal Law makers, you’re by extension calling the attention of Federal Government to come and do issues like, bole hole, transformers, like roads and all of that. ” Then we have to hold the Local government Chairman accountable and at this forum we bring the OSSIEC, because good leadership start with credible election, when the election is not good, there’s no way people will have the trust and the confidence in the kind of leadership any manipulative election is going to produce. “So we’re asking the leadership of OSSIEC, what are they trying to do and we are also bringing in the ICPC on how are we going to be tracking the money. And we have also trained people apart from the 66 advocate that we have trained, the participants here have also been trained about how they, themselves can check the local government funds, evey month and knows what comes to their local government.” He emphasized. Speaking at the town hall meeting, Comrade Waheed Lawal revealed that there is need for a new constitution in the country. "The federal government and the national assembly should work on a new constitution for the country, what we are using is the one for the military era "There must be transparency and accountability at the local government levels, we will need to ask them questions, but in Osun State the Council elections will hold by February, 2025... Then we will engage them to activate grassroots development." A member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, in his take-home address encourage everyone to participate in the forthcoming LG election and because everyone has a role to play in the development of our local communities. “This is a very fantastic program and i must commend the organizers once again. “The take-home is that everyone has a role to play in the development of our local communities and the fact that has been established, for a Nation to develop, it has to be a bottom-up approach and at the bottom in this regard is the Local Government. “Especially because of the supreme Court judgement that has just allowed more sensation at the local government ,So more youth should get involved not only at the state or federal level, They should get involved in the administrative work in the governance work at the local government. He advised. In an interview with Newsmen, OSSIEC Chairman,Hashim Abioye who was represented by Pastor Bunmi Obiloye, re-assured that OSSIEC is ready and prepared to give people a free and fair election. “My message, and especially the message of the Commission to the people, is that they should have confidence in us here, that we are more than prepared to give the people of Osun State at the FDA level a free, fair and credible election. “They may have experienced some naughty things in times past, but with the current team that we have on board, we are ready to do justice to what we are expected to do. He added. Earlier, while speaking, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Commissioner in Osun, Comm. Hassan Hafiz Mohammed, said that ICPC is creating a structure platform for monitoring of local government finances and to try as much as possible to remove the opacity around the budget process within the LG and the admission of the LG. He said, “First, more robust engagement with the citizens, will enlighten the citizens to make sure that they follow the money. “The ICPC will try as much as possible to remove the opacity around the budget process within the local government and the administration of the local government. “The ICPC will monitor the expenditures of the local government more strenuously. ...All of the PHCs visited in Osun State fell short of minimum standard as PHC should at first cover a minimum land area of 4,200 square metres and should have a detached building of at least 13 rooms, access to clean water possibly sourced from a motorised borehole, and functional separate male and female toilet facilities, and at least 24 workers on its staff, including a medical officer, four nurses or midwives, three Community Health Extension Workers, a pharmacy technician, an environmental officer, a medical record officer, a laboratory technician, two health attendants/assistants, two security personnel and one general maintenance staff, among others. May 18, 2024 In 1978, Nigeria and other members of the World Health Organisation (WHO) adopted the Alma Ata Declaration which recognised that PHCs are a basic structure and functional unit of public health delivery systems. Since then many countries got grants to develop their PHCs. Unfortunately, it was alleged that the contracts were awarded to party loyalists who did not deliver to the standards recommended for PHCs in Nigeria. Minimum standard for PHC According to the report of the Alma-Ata Conference on primary health care, PHC evolved from experiences with Basic Health Service (BHS) provision and delivery in several settings over the last couple of decades. However, it says PHC is a lot more than the provision of BHS. WHO further identified four categories of indicators; namely, health policy, socio-economic factors, health service provision and quality of life indicators. The Alma-Ata Conference also specified eight minimum health service areas that have since been referred to in many places as the minimum service components of PHC. These are education on prevailing health problems and how to prevent them (health education); provision of water and basic sanitation (environmental health); adequate food supply and good nutrition (public health nutrition); maternal and child health including family planning (reproductive and family health), and immunisation against the common communicable diseases. Others are control of common endemic diseases (epidemiology and disease control), treatment of common diseases and injuries (primary medical care), and provision of essential drugs (community pharmacy practice). NPHCDA recommendation vs Osun PHCs In Nigeria, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), established in 1992 following a recommendation by the World Health Organisation (WHO), is tasked with ensuring a proper and functional PHC system in the country. Its role includes stipulating infrastructural standards for PHC in Nigeria. NPHCDA has a clear-cut specification and standard for establishing and constructing PHCs. According to the agency, a PHC should at first cover a minimum land area of 4,200 square metres and should have a detached building of at least 13 rooms, access to clean water possibly sourced from a motorised borehole, and functional separate male and female toilet facilities. NPHCDA also noted that a PHC must be connected to the national grid and other regular alternative power sources, have a sanitary waste collection point and a waste disposal site, be clearly signposted – visible from both entry and exit points – be fenced and have a generator and gatehouses. Also, staff accommodation of 2 units of 1-bedroom flats should be provided within the premises. The agency also recommends that a proper PHC structure comprises a building that has sufficient rooms and space to accommodate; Waiting/Reception areas for Child Welfare, ANC, Health Education and ORT corner, a staff station, 2 consulting rooms, an adolescent health service room, pharmacy and dispensing unit, two delivery rooms, maternity/lying-in section, in-patient ward section, laboratory, medical records area, injection/dressing area, minor procedures room, food demonstration area, kitchen store, among others. According to the NPHCDA, an ideal PHC should have at least 24 workers on its staff, including a medical officer, four nurses or midwives, three Community Health Extension Workers, a pharmacy technician, an environmental officer, a medical record officer, a laboratory technician, two health attendants/assistants, two security personnel and one general maintenance staff, among others. NPHCDA’s recommended equipment for PHCs includes consulting cubicle, artery forceps, bedpan, stainless steel, stainless bowls with stand, covered bowl for cotton wool, delivery couch, dissecting forceps, and dressing trolley, among others. Sadly, all of the PHCs visited in Osun State fell short of these minimum standards. However, these shortcomings are not peculiar to PHCs in Osun. Their abject conditions reflect the situation across Nigerian PHCs and hinder effective healthcare service delivery across the country. In 2022, a heart-wrenching incident occurred in Odeyinka, a small community in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State in south-west Nigeria. A pregnant woman, Bidemi, was admitted to the Odeyinka Community Health Centre, a primary healthcare centre (PHC). That same day, she delivered a baby boy, but because the centre lacked adequate medical facilities to manage the excessive blood loss she experienced during childbirth, she was referred to another hospital in Ikire town. Still, the family was dissatisfied with the handling of her case in this second hospital. Her husband decided to take her to their hometown, Cotonou in Benin Republic, for further medical attention. But the woman unfortunately died on their way to Cotonou a week after her delivery. Three days after the woman’s death, her son also died. Eunice Ogundele, the only health worker in the PHC in Odeyinka, said the report she got indicated that the woman lost a lot of blood and never got well until she died. She also said the baby became ill and did not recover. “I was told that the child began to show very serious signs of illness. They took the baby to the hospital but I guess it was too late. The woman’s husband came back to pack their things and left for Cotonou after the child died,” Mrs Ogundele, a health technician. Osun government speaks The Osun State Commissioner for Health, Sola Akintola, said the state government led by Governor Ademola Adeleke has embarked on the renovation of the 332 PHCs that were not done well by his predecessor. He said: “We want to renovate 332 PHCs, and I am happy to inform you that we have started with 50 and Odeyinka you mentioned is one of the 50 and it is at 60 per cent completion now. We are renovating and upgrading the PHCs, we want to dedicate it to be functioning 24 hours. “At least there must be boreholes and electricity supply 24 hours. So we are giving solar to each of the 332 PHCs and functioning boreholes.” Mr Akintola said the new administration noticed that apart from the fact that the PHCs have a shortage of personnel, there was also no provision for recruitment of staff for them in the budget inherited. “So as regards that, the first thing we did was to have budgeting provision for that in the 2024 budget which has been approved. We will also be releasing the 40 per cent fund for the renovation. So before April runs out we are going to start the recruitment process. And we are releasing money for the second phase of the PHC,” the commissioner added. He said what the previous administration did in the name of renovating the PHCs was just window dressing. “You see there is a difference between actual renovation of PHCs and political renovation. You know we have to move around to see what they said they did and thank God the Odeyinka you went to is part of the one they claimed to have renovated. “And what you met at Odeyinka is not different from the other 332 PHCs we are talking about. So what they did was just window dressing. So we want to renovate and upgrade now,” he said. But contrary to the commissioner’s claim, when this reporter reached out to members of the community in April, they said the facility in Odeyinka was still in bad shape and there was no recent renovation, although some government officials visited the PHC at the end of February. “No, nothing has been done here, maybe the model, but not at the PHC here. They only came around February ending and since then nothing has been done. In fact, we are currently cutting the grass around the facility and someone has been paid N4,500 to handle the thickly bushy areas within the premises,” a resident said.
