Taking to Facebook on Sunday, August 27th , 2023, an African Filmmaker and media expert who had been engaged to Olaide Olajide last year and were set to marry this year. According to the social media’s post, the lady is now planning to marry someone she claims nothing is going on with. His Facebook post reads: “So someone asked me today, ‘Isn’t today your wedding day?’ I smiled… The woman I was supposed to marry got married within two months after our breakup! Fear women!!!!! Heartbroken, BUT FINALLY I’M FREE. Many of you knew about my relationship, and some did not, but it’s finally over. I’ve decided to speak up and put an end to the rumors. 🤔😏 For those who speak ill of it, here’s what happened: you should know that our relationship was difficult, but today I’m informing you all that we are no longer together. 💔 I won’t deny that things didn’t go as we thought, so we decided to part ways. We tried to stay together, but it just didn’t work out. I don’t have to explain what went wrong, but I’m happy I chose to end it for the glory of God. My life is better, and I’m living happily. Thanks for your concern, guys. Much love. I am God’s Beloved, and I choose to be happy! Moral lesson: Be wise, don’t force anyone into marriage. Listen to the voice of God and always choose happiness. Proverbs 21:19 Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife. I was fooled for years; I was engaged to a stranger for years. But God saved me and found me. No regrets. I’m so thankful to God that he pulled me out of an unhealthy relationship. Such a woman can definitely cause harm. A woman who got married to the guy she told me had nothing between them when I visited her at her pastor’s house in Lagos. A man who exchanged pleasantries with me, and I had no idea what was happening. She broke up with me because of the guy. Her pastor was shocked, and so am I. Barely two months ago, I proposed, and now another man is married… Lolzz. … Oh dear, life is a lesson, and I’m deeply grateful to God." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q4LNNLk96Q?si=vKTT7cc56GlPqLdW

Nigeria Has Lesser Women In Politics: Here's Why, And What To Do By; Bright Gbotemi, Voice For Good Governance And Democracy (VGD) THERE are few women in political and leadership spaces in Nigeria. Currently, in the Senate, out of the 109 senators, three are female, which was a reduction from the seven in the 9th Assembly. SIMILARLY, in the House of Representatives, sixteen women were sworn in out of the 360 lawmakers, a slight increase compared to 13 in the previous House. THE female lawmakers are from; Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Delta, Imo, Ogun, Plateau, Lagos, Yobe and Oyo. IT is on record that there is no female governor in the whole of 36 states of the nation, and also no female vice president since democracy system of government. IN the recent 47 Ministerial Nominees of President Bola Tinubu, Nine(9) Women were shortlisted. WHY ARE WOMEN SO POORLY REPRESENTED IN KEY LEADERSHIP POSITIONS? THERE are different factors. Some are due to the political party systems and structures we have in place in Nigeria. FOR instance, the high cost of politics prevent women from standing for positions. Often women don’t have enough money to pay for the mandatory Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms required by political parties to run for positions on their platforms. Election campaign costs are exorbitantly high. THERE are also societal factors that impede women’s representation in governance. CULTURAL or religious norms surrounding marriage, the structures that portray women as subordinate to men. EVEN educated women face obstacles. Gender stereotypes that assign leadership to men, sexual assault, unpaid labour, including child care and housework, placing them at a disadvantage. THERE is also a lack of political will and effective action from government. A cross section of the media gives poor coverage to female candidates. It is not the same as the coverage men get. Women candidates are sometimes subjected to gender related electoral violence, threats and hate speech because of the perception that women want to get what is traditionally meant for men. WHY IS REPRESENTATION OF WOMEN IN NIGERIAN POLITICS IMPORTANT? DATA has shown that half of the population are women, their participation will create an equilibrium or balance of power between genders and this is a pointer to development in any society. Over the years, There's a rise in the number of women serving in elected and appointed political position all over the world. HERE are the top five countries with the highest percentages of women’s political power: Spain: 66.7%, Finland: 61.1%, Nicaragua: 58.8%, Colombia: 57.9%, Austria: 57.1% BUT that is not the case for Nigerian women. THE full and equitable participation of women in governance is essential to building and sustaining strong and vibrant democracies. WHEN women are not participating in politics, it’s less likely that policies will benefit them. OSUN State as a Case Study Study revealed that the low representation of women in politics in Osun State is due to certain socio-cultural factors like violence, discrimination against women, people's perception of politics as a dirty game and cultural beliefs. It suggests that representation of women in Osun State is low compared to their male counterparts with an indication that sustainability of democracy at the grassroots level is yet to be sustained. FEW days ago, Governor Ademola Adeleke inaugurated Commissioners who will serve in his cabinet, however only two(2) females made the list of 25 nominees screened by the Osun State House of Assembly. They are Mrs Ayo Awolowo, a former Special Adviser to Former Governor Oyinlola, Mrs Adenike Adeleke, the wife of the late Isiaka Adeleke, who was the first civilian Governor of the State during the aborted Third Republic and the elder brother of Governor Adeleke. THIS has generated a lot of reactions, criticism from Analysts, Women Activists and the Opposition Party in Osun State. THEIR question; Where is the place of women in Governor Ademola Adeleke's Government, Women trooped out enmasse for political activities like campaigns but get nothing out of the outcome at the end of the day. HOW CAN THE PROBLEM OF REPRESENTATION BE SOLVED? TRAINING is very vital; Women need training in the fundamentals of politics. They need to understand grassroot politics and start from there. When people are unknown at the grassroots, they don't go far in politics. WOMEN also need to see that politics is not all dirty. They need to see governance as what affects everyone in a society. FINANCIAL support is important. Some women can’t afford to buy party forms. And when payment for forms is waived for women, they are often made to step down for the man who has paid. Women need financial support that will not impede on their rights to participate or contest for positions. THE media must change their narratives towards political coverage for women. They sometimes project women in ways that are not relevant to leadership, politics or election. There are instances where election violence has badly and specifically affected women. The media have to report these and hold perpetrators accountable. ADVOCATING for affirmative action at the state and political party level is also crucial. Political parties have over the years mandated women to step down from the electoral process. Apostle Gbenga Asiwaju Urges FG To Redirect Subsidy Palliative To Production, Not Insensitive N8,000 Monthly Distribution •Tasks Ondo state govt to fix Electricity in Okitipupa, build a factory over unemployment Apostle Olugbenga Asiwaju, has evaluated the proposed N8,000 monthly palliative by the Federal Government for 12 million households, calling a misplacement of priority. The Planter of EL-OLAM International Christian Centre aka Word Embassy, suggested that the government should use the subsidy savings to fix the transport and energy sector, as 27% of the country’s average household depends on fuel-related expenses, rather than putting it into a wasteful exercise. Apostle Asiwaju stated in a Sunday statement that the palliative, which will be funded through a loan, will add to the country’s loss burden, and that Nigeria is about to get it wrong completely... already has a high debt profile and does not need to incur more debt to distribute palliatives. He said: “the N8,000 is a misplacement of priority.. that is not what we need now. The government is about to run into colossal loss and waste of public funds. The government is about to get it wrong completely.." "I wonder who is advising Mr. President.. The Buhari's administration allegedly claimed to share money.. no accountability and transparent for it because the program didn't alleviate poverty in any way.." Apostle further revealed that Nigeria economy is already on zero level. "Poverty is biting every Nigerian harder, People are groaning and dying of the economic hardship... Nothing is working in Nigeria.... Sharing N8,000 for 12 million families for 6 months is not the answer.. Why not use the money to fix this Electricity dilemma once and for all in the six geopolitical zones.. "Once the electricity is fixed, then people who can produce will go into production.. Then the government can also build factories by this there will be job opportunities and gradually, poverty will b reduce... The government only need to get credible Nigerians that have the nation at heart and saddle them with the responsibility of fixing the electricity for that six month of wasting money by paying 12 million family #8000.. We know what happened to government palliative during covid 19.. it failed completely, so many politicians enriched themselves while poor citizens died of hunger," He said. While charging Ondo state government, Apostle Olugbenga Asiwaju said, "it's quite painful. I expected so much from Akeredolu's administration, but it's completely off. Nothing is working.. I remember that during his first term, he campaigned in the Okitipupa n Ikale area, of the State, that he will fix the electricity, but he hasn't been up till now.. No electricity in okitipupa for over 10 years.. "I will advise if the federal government still go ahead with their wasteful plan, then Governor Akeredolu should fix okitipupa electricity and build factory to open job opportunities for people.. Sharing money for six month is a no-no, the statement reads.

Nigeria's economy has been in the mud for years but recently, the severity of hardship has skyrocketed due to the immediate past government's cashless policy and the subsidy removal by the new administration. In a situation whereby students are struggling to survive at school and those that have graduated are also hunting for job placement. Author: Bright Gbotemi THE current state of "One Nigeria", the giant of Africa has got everyone concerned. Nigerians still continued to allow ethno-religious sentiments and emotion to rule their sense of judgement. Unfortunately, ethnic and religious prejudice on elections are the two-headed dragon crippling the Nation, and it has become one of the factors causing more harm than good lately. For an extensive study of the reality of ethno-religious influence on Nigerian elections, I shall proceed by tracing a brief history of Nigeria. Brief History of Nigeria Nigeria is a country in West Africa with the population of over 200 million people and population density of 149.7 Sqkm. It has a land mass of 923,768 Sqkm. The country is blessed with mineral resources like crude oil, tin ore, columbite, iron ore, phosphate, coal and others. Before the amalgamation in 1914, the entity called Nigeria existed, according to Olukoju (1997), as extensive empires and kingdoms and even peripheral kingdoms and villages. In the words of Obayemi (1981) they existed as mini and mega–states. The mega–states are the Olukoju’s extensive empires and kingdoms that existed in the Western and Northern parts of Nigeria which include: The Jukun, Igala, Nupe, Bini, Oyo, Sokoto, Ife, Kanem-Bornu and others. The mini-states or peripheral kingdoms found in the south included Onitsha and Aboh. Others described as “state-less societies” include Tiv, Ibibio, Izon, Gbagyi and other. Within these societies for Obayemi, there were ecological complementarities and economic interdependence. On The Ethnic Groups And Tribes While some argued that Nigeria has up to 240 ethnic nations; others maintain that they are less than 60 ethnic groups. But the fact seems that there are about 60 ethnic groups which make up about 240 tribes in Nigeria, each possessing her own dialect. In Nigeria, there are three major religions generally recognized: indigenous religions, Islam, and Christianity. Also, there are three major ethnic groups which includes; Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. The Hausa occupy the Northern part of Nigeria, the Igbo occupy the south-east and the Yoruba have the Western part. The indigenous languages are as many as these tribes, though it has a lingua franca – the English language – as a heritage of British colonialism. The height that ethno-religious played in the just concluded 2023 elections is very obvious. Research had revealed that the most populous, politically and religious influential ethnics being Hausa-Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo (Ibo) 18%, Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio 3.5%, Tiv 2.5%. 2023 General Elections And The Role That Ethnic And Religious Factors Played Politics is being played and strategized using religion, psychology and ethnicity to gain support of the populace. According to the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, "Emi lokan"- "Yoruba lokan", "Emi lokan" which means "it is my turn - Yoruba is the next". Historically, this is ethnicity challenge. Also, the controversy from the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi over phone call with a renowned religious leader, Bishop David Oyedepo begging for votes before the general election. Continuing the conversation, Oyedepo said, “We look forward to God's intervention,” to which Obi responded by saying, “Thank you, Daddy. I need you to speak to your people in the Southwest and Kwara. The Christians in the Southwest and Kwara.” Bishop Oyedepo said: “Okay.” Former Anambra State Governor Opens up Peter Obi said: “Do you think I can just pick a phone and say ‘religious war’? No, I was even begging the bishop to help me ask his people to vote, which was what I was doing for six months – is begging. “I wasn’t saying ‘catch him’, ‘kill him’, ‘force it’. I was even begging. That shows that I continued to look for votes by begging. There were so many things we tried to do but they were not okay.” The former Anambra state governor stated that he does not care what his opponents and their supporters make of it while also maintaining that he is not a religious or ethnic bigot. Meanwhile, the Presidential Candidate was reported for regular attendance of church events before election which has been relieved now after loss. The PDP Candidate, Atiku Abubakar Plays ‘Ethnic Card’ During Kaduna Meeting Atiku asked his fellow Northerners to vote for him in the 2023 general elections. According to Atiku, Northerners need to vote for him rather than a Yoruba or Igbo candidate because he was a Pan-Nigerian with a northern extraction that had built bridges across the country. The top Presidential candidates are from other region, that of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, is from the South-West region while the Labour Party’s Peter Obi is from the South-East region. Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Valentine Chukwuma Onaga, the current Catholic Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Nigeria, in his general feeling that the question of Nigerian unity may never be realizable because even the programmes created by the government to solve the problem of disunity seem to exacerbate it. "The problem of ethnic and religious tensions is a great threat to the cooperate existence of Nigeria as one nation." Nwaigbo argues that the rate of ethnic and religious conflicts in many parts of Nigerian society today is alarming. He also states that ethnic and religious conflicts are at the moment worsening the Nigerian economy, and threatening the quest for national unity. Sometimes the conflict results in physical violence and at other times they go in terms of cold war as we often witness in the election or appointment of political officials and even in the case of Federal Character or quota system. Recommendations The former CAN President, Samson Ayokunle Advised Nigerian Government to bring back Inter-religious Education. "Inter-religious Education gives students or people ample opportunities to make informed decision in adulthood of the religion they have the conviction to practice in life. Inter-religious education reduces religious conflicts and promotes mutual co-existence. Inter-religious education gives in the opportunity to see the world from more than one religious perspective and make better informed decisions,” he said in the paper, Premium Times of Also, as part of the recommendations, this Author advised Nigerians to promote Nigeria, but not tribal unity. Meet friends from other cultures, marry from the other ethnic-religion, and citizens should do their best to introduce peace and equality into the country system and culture. The outcome of the 2023 general elections is a proof that tribal interests played a major role, and this to an extent has caused disagreements and civil unrest across the country. Politicians who took advantage of ethnic alliances have brought about sectarian animosity. With this, the president-elect will spend most of his time on tribal balancing rather than on economic management. Going forward, and in the interest of the nation’s democracy, concerted efforts should be made to ensure that political parties campaign rules are founded on development ideas and not tribal issue. ©Bright Olorungbotemi, Publisher of Voice Air Media (Online News) writes.

...A call for her removal from NDDC Board THE sabotaging role Lauretta Onoche played during the February 25 Presidential election and March 18 governorship election has been exposed and hence, calls for her removal from the board of the NDDC orchestrated. This call was made by National Coordinator of Niger Delta Emerging Youths Initiative (NDEYI), Comrade Felix Akpoyibo in an expose' statement stated that Lauretta Onoche never took the interest of the All Progressives Congress, APC at heart during the elections rather, she went about distributing cash in Dollar currency to her constituents and urging them to vote the People's Democratic Party, PDP in her units. "The result of her action gave winning chances to the PDP. But for the loyalty and commitment of party faithful who rebuffed her sabotage, the performance of the APC would have been totally dismal." In the release, Akpoyibo noted that Laurreta Onochie is from Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North L.G.A, and as a card carrying member of APC in Ward 4, her voting unit is Unit 8 she was never present while the Delta APC Campaign Organization campaigned for votes in the area. "During the Presidential election held 25th Feb 2023, the APC polled only 16 votes against the PDP that scored 27, a percentage difference of 13.6 to the advantage of the PDP." "Similar performance was repeated in the Senate and House of Reps elections with APC scoring 24, PDP 42 and LP 13 translating to another 21.2 and 25.3 percent difference in favour of PDP respectively." "In the Governorship election, but for the resilience and determination of the people, Lauretta Onoche held fast to her avowed resolve to sink the APC ship and the results were : APC 33, PDP 47, LP 4 marking another hurting percentage difference of 21 in favour of the PDP." "This is a woman who has no interest for her party, APC except her own selfish interest. She has never sponsored any meeting in her own town of Onicha-Olona." "When she came for the Governorship Election she did not cast her vote in her unit, rather she was going round sharing dollars to people, telling them to vote for PDP against her party APC. "She was accompanied by Dr Iyke Odikpo before they were chased away from the field. "She has no followers and political class. She is only good in social media blackmailing people, such a person who deliberately sabotaged the winning of her unit does not deserve to be the Chairman of the Board of NDDC, a position made possible for her by the APC, and yet she goes about making unspeakable comments and disparaging the APC in social media." The group lamented. Details Here...https://voiceairmedia.com/2023/04/06/lauretta-onochie-units-results-group-exposes-lauretta-nddc-chairs-sabotage-against-apc/
