A business man in Irele, Ondo state, Mr Omololu Olowosoyo who was accompanied on a business journey to Osogbo with his driver, Mr Idowu has been reportedly killed along Ore- Irele road, Irele.


In a petition written by the deceased family lawyer, A.K Akinbuluma, Esq, has called for justice and discreet investigation.


According to the petition, the accomplice, one Mr Idowu who claimed that another, Mrs Dolapo was allegedly picked in Ore on their return to Irele are prime suspects. Both are said to be personally acting innocent and thereby accusing each other.


Voice Air Media learnts that the driver, Mr. Idowu had earlier duped the deceased the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (#150,000.00). Apart from that, the accomplice is said to be in question for many evil things.


As the police are still making their investigations, the Olowosoyo family of Irele, Ondo State represented by Mr. Ilesanmi Olowosoyo (08161128132), Mr. Adegbaye Olowosoyo (08151596098) and Mrs. Funmilayo Olowosoyo are also calling for justice.

“Some of us escaped from the attack and I am sure that they attacked us because they were intimidated with the crowd that came out for the meeting and rally that we held. I think, their intention was to kill Dr. Amidu Tadese because I heard them shouting where is he during the attack”, the source added.




Confirming the incident, the APC Osun West Senatorial Candidate, Dr. Amidu Tadese, said the attack occurred around 5:30pm.




According to him, the hoodlums who were more than 30 in number ransacked the entire community after they destabilized the meeting and attacked members of the APC.




“Our supporters had already erected canopy and assembled at Ward 10, Ikire before the incident occured. We were about starting the meeting when we saw the hoodlums shooting sporadically shortly after someone offered the opening prayers at the meeting.




“They were more than 30 in number led by Akogun Lere Oyewumi, the PDP Osun West Senatorial Candidate. They were shooting from Naira and Kobo area and before we know it, they were already at the venue attacking people and destroying property including our vehicles and commercial mini-buses and tricycles passing by at that material time.




“A lot of properties were destroyed. I saw Oyewumi himself leading the hoodlums. When they destabilized the whole thing and people scampered for safety, they retreated to Oyewumi’s filling station.




“Though, we had the police permit to hold the meeting and I see no reason such could have happened. But we thank God for His protection and safety”, he added.

THE Osun state governorship election Petition Tribunal has fixed Friday, January 27th to deliver judgement in the suit filed by former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola challenging the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke in July 16, 2022 Gubernatorial polls.

This was made known in a court paper signed by the Election petition Tribunal secretary, Address to the petitioner, dated 24th, January, 2023, and obtained by our Correspondent on Tuesday.

The judgement will be heard at 9am on Friday.

This newspaper Recall that Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had on August 5, submitted a petition before the tribunal in Osogbo.


Oyetola and APC were challenging the election results from 749 polling units across 10 local government areas of the state for various alleged electoral malpractice, especially over-voting.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Adeleke as the winner of the governorship election, having polled 403, 271 votes against 375,027 polled by Oyetola.

THE pioneer Director General of Osun Amotekun Corps and the Field Commander, Comrade Amitolu Shittu have resigned, Voice Air Media reports.


This was disclosed on Friday by the Corps Spokesman, Yusuf Idowu.

According to Ìdòwú, Amitolu tendered his resignation letter at the office of the Secretary to the State Government.

Michael Chika Kwazeman Egbujuo Nwachukwu (Mpi Dike, Egbulu Obube) is the flag bearer of the Accord Party for senate Owerri Zone come 2023. He hails from Umuokpaa Egbulu Obube in Owerri North LGA of Imo State.



Making a comparison of all the contestants for this enviously elevated position, it is not a gainsaying that Mike Nwachukwu is who the cap fits.

THE JOB
1. It is the responsibility of the National Assembly to make laws for the good governance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

2. It is the responsibility of those that we send to the National Assembly to represent us to participate in that process of law making, but from the prism of the interest of his / her Constituency.

And so any law that will have a positive or negative impact on his Constituency must be of concern to him.

3. As I have often said in the course of my engagement with nde Owerri Zone at various fora, the single most important law-making function and responsibility of the National Assembly is the consideration and passage of the annual Appropriation Act (or Budget, as we lay men often call it).

4. That Appropriation Act is the Act / Law / Document that defines how the resources accruing to the Federal Government in any given Fiscal Year is distributed among the competing units and problems of the Federation.

5. The Fiscal Appropriation process usually commences in March of every year with a Circular from Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to the various MDA’s (i.e. Ministeries, Departments and Agencies) calling for their proposals for the coming years’ Fiscal Appropriation.

6. Therefore, between March and June / July the MDA’s will put together their respective expenditure proposals - Recurrent & Capital and submit same to the Federal Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

7. Between June / July and September / October, the Federal Ministry of Finance will aggregate and articulate these proposals in the way and manner that Mr. President will place same before the National Assembly.

In between, they would have explained to Mr. President the highlights of the proposed Appropriation, detailing such matters as the total Recurrent & Capital Expenditure, critical Capital Expenditure Heads and more importantly the availability or otherwise of funding for the implementation of the Appropriation.

If there will be a deficit, then they’ll explain how that deficit will be funded etc.

8. How is this process of concern to our Senator / Representative in the Red Chamber / House of Representatives respectively?

9. The primary responsbility of the Senator / Representative of Owerri Zone / Owerri Federal Constituency is to:

i. Identify and Understand the problems of his / her Constituency.

ii. Aggregate, Articulate and Dimension these problems in a “bankable” way and manner.

iii. Present these problems that have been aggregated, articulated and dimensioned to those who have the levers of power and are involved in the annual process of distributing and appropriating the resources of the Federal Government of Nigeria among the competing units and problems of the Federation!

10. Under the circumstance that we, nde Owerri Zone find ourselves, you will agree with me that our SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM IS THE SORDID STATE OF OUR ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE ACROSS EVERY NOOK AND CRANY OF THE ZONE!

Should I be elected Senator for nde Owerri Zone, addressing this sordid road infrastructure deficit issues will be the focal point of my sojourn in the Senate!

11. This explains why I have recently traversed the lenght and breadth of the 104 Electoral Wards that make up Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial District to do a re-assessment of the state of our road infrastructure.

I had done this exercise in 2018 in the run up to the 2019 election.

But four years is a long time and so I and my team needed to do a repeat assessment.

12. And so how will this exercise be of value to nde Owerri should I, by the Grace of God be elected Senator?

I and my team will gradually and painstakingly in a phased way and manner front-load these road infrastructure deficit issues into the Fiscal Appropriation Proposals of the relevant MDA’s that will come back to the National Assembly as part of the overall Executive Branch Appropriation Proposal of the Federal Government.

13. There are about ten Road Infrastructure Construction & Rehabilitation MDA’s viz (in no particular order)



i. NDDC
ii. Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs
iii. Federal Ministry of Works
iv. FERMA
v. Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
vi. Border Communities Development Agency
vii. Ecological Projects Office
viii. Federal Ministry of Environment
ix. Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority (Federal Ministry of Water Resources)



We shall on actively and robustly engage these MDA’s and build relationships with their key officers, with the intent of front-loading through them the projects that are of interest to nde Owerri Zone into their annual Appropriation Proposal.



15. Once the projects have been front-loaded and become part of the Appropriation proposal, we sit back in the National Assembly and await the presentation of the Appropriation Proposal by Mr. President.

16. Because I and my Team have a clear strategy and pathway to “deliver the goods” for nde Owerri Zone, I shall by all means possible find myself in the Senate Committee on Finance & Appropriation amongst other key Committees - this will be helped tremendously by the fact that I am a retired Banker. And so we will be in a vantage position to chaperone all that we have managed to put in the Appropriation Proposal of the appropriate MDA’s and in this way ensure that they remain there by the time the Appropriation Act is passed and commences it’s journey back to the Presidency for Presidential Assent.

Let me also note that in practice the National Assembly hardly removes anything that comes from the Executive Branch. On the contrary, they seek to add (or is it pad?) and this is especially the stock-in-trade of those Legislators who do not know what we know and are therefore not prepared.

17. Once the Appropriation Act is passed, we’ll turn our attention to the Federal Ministry of Finance and Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) as they are in possession of the key to where the money to fund the budget is! The idea is to ensure that we secure the funding required to execute the projects we have put into the Appropriation Act.

If in a given Fiscal Year we achieve 25% to 30% to 40% success rate, we close that one up, and repeat the same process the next Fiscal Year.

In this way, we shall over the period of one term, turn Owerri Zone into a huge construction site with various projects at various locations and at various levels of completion!

We will in this way keep WINING for nde Owerri Zone until our four years is due.

If we have delivered in our first term and are found worthy for a second term then head back into the ring!

The above Sir, is what representation in the National Assembly is all about! It is about;

i. Identifying and Understanding the problems of your constituency.

ii. Aggregating, Articulating, and Dimensioning these problems in a “bankable” way and manner.

iii. Presenting these problems that have been aggregated, articulated and dimensioned to those who have the levers of power and are involved in the annual process of distributing and appropriating the resources of the Federal Government of Nigeria among the competing units and problems of the Federation and engage them in a way and manner that will enable you to secure the resources to deal with and solve these problems.

18. And so If I am privileged to become the Senator representing nde Owerri Zone in the Red Chamber, I will not pretend that I am going there to become the mouth piece of Nde Igbo or Nde Imo State. I shall focus my attention on solving the infrastructure (particularly road) deficit issues prevalent in Owerri Zone!

19. As for Empowerment, we shall effectively work with such Agencies as Small & Medium Enyerprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) and Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) to drive Empowerment Programmes that are geared towards Human Capital Development.

Yes! Occasionally Rice and Beans, Motorcycles, Keke Napep’s, Maize and Egusi Grinding Machine’s, Agwada’s for frying Garri, Hair Dressing Equipment, Sowing Machine’s etc will be distributed to deserving persons but quite frankly such gestures do not define representation at the level we are talking about!

Indeed representation at this level requires a CERTAIN LEVEL OF INTELLECTUAL RIGOR that is not picked on the streets of Owerri or Lagos or Abuja or PortHarcourt!

THE water project which was commissioned by the founder and Director of Pega & Friends Foundation, Prince Ekunola Gbenga Abraham (PEGA) accompanied by members of the foundation, the Hospital Matron Mrs Oliyide Basirat Olamiji and staff of Gbogidi health Centre, and other community leaders and indigenes in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State.




Also Pega and Friends Foundation, has offset the medical expenses of a patient suffering from Testicular Hydrocele in Ilaro with medical outreach in some villages including Pahayi-Yewa.




Pega and Friends Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Prince Ekunola Gbenga Abraham (PEGA), a Nigerian from Ogun state. The Foundation has a reputation for bringing together great people of like mind with the aim of channeling all available resources to help less privileged persons in society.




The hospital matron Mrs Oliyide while appreciating the Foundation for the gestures commended the Foundation for adding value to the health centre by the provision of the water and prayed that more developments will come to the community through the Foundation.




The staff, patients and members of the community were excited about the water project and also prayed for the prosperity of the Foundation and urged other good spirited organization and individual to emulate the gesture of Pega and Friends Foundation.




The Director of the Foundation, Prince Ekunola also encouraged the management of the clinic and community to maintain the water project, tasking them to take ownership and see the project as theirs and therefore protects it from been abused or damaged.




Speaking earlier at the palace of Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olu Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Ekunola said his decision to reconstruct and commission water project in Gbogidi health center is “divine and timely” adding most health centres in ogun west need massive state government interventions.




Responding, Oba Olugbenle said he was excited at PEGA’s gesture and prayed that God will further enable the foundation to extend her milk of kindness to the community beyond the water project and other loudable projects they have been doing across the nation.




As part of its commitment to philanthropy, the Foundation, has visited the Nigerian Correctional Service in Ilaro, Ogun State, where it donated food items, toiletries, groceries, clipper among other items and also sponsored NECO & NABTED of some inmates.




Speaking at the Correctional Center, the Founder of the foundation, Ekunola, explained the motive behind the outreach to the prison; in his words: “The major reason we embarked on this project is because there are so many people there who do not have anyone to support them in one way or the other. They have been forgotten by their family, friends and relations, we had to do this to keep their hope alive and make sure they are still happy even while serving their terms at the correctional centre. In all, love is what we stand for.




Thanking the foundation for the donation and other interventions, the officer in charge, the deputy controller of correctional Mr. John Ilesanmi Itannrin said: “On behalf of the staff and inmates of Ilaro Custodial Centre, I sincerely wish to thank you for your noble minded contribution to ameliorate the plights of the inmates of the custodial centre., he further appreciated the foundation of the water project which was commissioned by the foundation four years ago at the centre which the centre still benefiting from till date.




“We sincerely pray that the Lord Almighty, in His infinite mercy, will continue to shower His blessings upon your enviable organisation.”




Similarly, The Pega and Friends Foundation has concluded the donation of hospital items in some hospitals across Yewaland includes: Idogo Health Center, Oke-Ela Health Center, Library Health center and the General Hospital, Ilaro.




The handover activities were concluded at the centres where bed sheets, Pampers and other items were received by the hospital administration.




Our aim is to ensure that we improve the state of healthcare in the country, these hospitals had a need and when our intelligence team informed us about this, we did not hesitate to provide the hospital items. These will go a long way in ensuring the hospitals continue to serve more people with improved items,” says Prince Ekunola while handing over items at Hospitals.




Speaking after the charity obligations to its beneficiaries across the country, the founder and the director of the foundation Prince Ekunola Gbenga Abraham (PEGA), noted further that the foundation was focused at enhancing the quality of life of Nigerians by promote health, socio-economic development and status of vulnerable and disadvantaged women, children, youths and men in community and welfare, character management & rehabilitation programs for inmates.

Mbaise Nation Rejoices With C.C. IBEH On His Call To Bar

Yesterday, the 7th day of December 2022, another history was made in the family of Late (Arch) C.O Ibeh and the entire Mbaise Nation as one of their noble sons - C.C. Ibeh was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.



This has stirred eureka joy as it has been his dream and the earnest expectation all around him.



While making this public, he wrote:

My dream, goal and hardwork for the past 7 years in the University cum Nigerian Law School, indeed has come true this day; as I will be Called to the Nigerian Bar at the Body of Benchers Hall Jabi Abuja this morning, as a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.



This dream of mine came into existence during my primary four (4) level in Alvan Primary School Owerri; when I always meet our family lawyer, who always had Court discussion with my Dad.
He will speak all kinds of grandiloquent words and I will watch with high admiration.



The passion grew when my brother's friend who always came around will be seen speaking law, in less than 3years my brother followed suit; their dressing, attitude and disposition on matters stole my full attention.



I left secondary school and applied to be admitted into law in ESUT & UNIZIK but was given a different course which I rejected. The next year I furthered my application to study law in my state Imo, made one of the best grades in the post-utme and aggregate score for law but was given political science because law faculty lost accreditation; I was encouraged by my parents to continue with political science.
In political science, I didn't buy a textbook, was so worried that I didn't have my law course but as God may have it in less than 2 months in political science, law faculty was accredited and all that merited the admission were invited for clearance.



My Nigerian Law School experience is another day's discuss.



My late Dad desired to have a lawyer in the house; but today he is no more to see his two sons as lawyers.



I dedicate this day to my hero - Late (Arch.) C.O. Ibeh.

When a man disappoints his kinsmen in the public, they lock him indoors to avoid further disgrace.


This is the case of Samuel Otuibe and Ahiazu Mbaise people.


Recall that Otuibe received the mandate to represent Ahiazu Mbaise Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly through the People's Democratic Party (PDP) before leaving for All Progressive Congress (APC) where he is leveraging on corruption to deny his people government presence.


It is worthy of note that an agreement has been existing between Ahiara and Ekwereazu in the PDP to produce a House Member every four years, but APC is empowering Otuibe to breach that by intending to run for a second tenure.


A House Member who can not boast of noticing those who suffered to enthrone him; who has never held a constituency briefing; who diverts and sells resources giving to him for his constituency; who has records of paying non workers; is not worthy of a second chance in the Imo State House of Assembly.


This time around, Ahiazu Mbaise is insisting on Engr. Rex Okoro as a reliable candidate to represent them in the Imo State House of Assembly come 2023 through the People's Democratic Party.


In this new era, through Okoro, Ahiazu Mbaise people will have a Widows Foundation, be sure of constituency briefing, stick to the four years agreement between Ahiara and Ekwereazu, et cetera.


This will certainly be a different experience from that of a folk who collected a 'Ghana Must Go' full of money to betray his people in January 2020.


Otuibe has commissioned no single project in Ahiazu Mbaise neither has he delivered any iota dividend of democracy for his constituency.


Real Ahiazu sons do not sell out their people for any thing.


Suffice to say that betrayal runs in his DNA.

He numerated the high level of unemployment, insecurity, poor road network, lack of adequate medical facilities et cetera, as some of the problems facing Imo state today.

According to him, the current situation in Imo needs someone who has great knowledge in human and resources management, someone with great fiscal abilities and appreciate the surmountable problems of the State.

He further said that while fixing the depleted infrastructure in the State, he will tackle crimes and criminal activities through job creation.

The best way to reduce or eradicate crime in Imo State is to ensure that the youths are gainfully employed and positively productive, and that he will ensure when he assumed office come January 2024.

The elated Mbaise people who attended the occasion in unison declared their support for their great son and asked him to continue in this laudable task of reclaiming Imo State from the hands of desperate hawks.

In his solidarity message to Sir Maduka, Notable Men and women of Mbaise Nation listed some of the mind-blowing contributions of Sir Maduka to the development of Mbaise land and Imo state.

These contributions centers on human capital development, infrastructural development, job creation, youths and women empowerment, which he described as second to none.

He further stressed that with the entrance of Sir Maduka into the governorship race in Imo State, other Governorship Aspirants will be silenced and well positioned to record an overwhelming victory in the coming polls.

They concluded by encouraging Sir Basil Maduka not to relent on his ambition because the coast is well clear for him to emerge the next governor of Imo State.

Also in attendance were traditional rulers, religious and political leaders, captain of industries and opinion leaders in Mbaise land who prayed for him and offered their blessings in good faith.

The state of Imo today is near epileptic as the current governor have shown that he lacks the prerequisite knowledge to pull Imo out of the sinking ground.
