PoliticsPolitical Detractors Behind False EFCC Story — Former SUBEB Boss, IBK by Honbright(op): 7:45am On May 26
My attention has been drawn to a malicious and politically motivated publication alleging that I am under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over purported financial mismanagement during my tenure as Executive Chairman of Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

In a statement signed by Hon. Fadipe Ibukun Ishola (IBK), Former Executive Chairman, Osun SUBEB and Osun East Senatorial Aspirant, stated, "I wish to categorically, clearly and unequivocally state that at no time have I been served any invitation letter, queried, interrogated or investigated by the EFCC, ICPC or any anti-corruption agency over allegations of fraud, misappropriation or mismanagement of public funds.

The publication in circulation is entirely false, baseless, misleading and a desperate fabrication by political detractors whose only objective is to smear my hard-earned reputation and distract the good people of Osun East from the issues that truly matter.

I resigned from office honourably and voluntarily in line with my desire to further pursue my Senatorial aspiration for Osun East Senatorial District. Throughout my service as SUBEB Chairman, I discharged my responsibilities with utmost transparency, accountability, diligence and fear of God. Every project executed and every public fund committed under my leadership followed due process and government regulations.

For the records, this is not my first time in public office. I served meritoriously as Executive Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government in 2008 under the administration of His Excellency, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, where I left behind developmental strides and a legacy of responsible leadership that remains unmatched till today.

I therefore urge the public, members of the Accord, supporters and the entire people of Osun East to disregard the concocted lies being spread by agents of political bitterness and insecurity.

No amount of blackmail, propaganda or sponsored falsehood can erase years of proven service, integrity and grassroots connection with the people.

I remain focused, peaceful and committed to issue-based politics and the development of Osun East Senatorial District. I also extend my hand of fellowship to fellow aspirants and party stakeholders to work together in unity and common purpose for the growth of our party and the progress of our people.

Truth does not fear propaganda. Character cannot be destroyed by lies", he said.

PoliticsAlleged Diabolical Moves Ahead Of Primary Election Spark Concerns In Idanre by Honbright(op): 1:07pm On May 19
A popular Yoruba song says: “Mabaja, mababinu, ẹni Ọlọrun bá ti ṣe tìẹ̀, edu bájà o. Ẹni Ọlọrun bá ti ṣe tìẹ̀, edu bájà.”
The meaning of the song is simple: no one should fight or envy the person whose destiny and path have already been perfected by God.

This message has once again become relevant ahead of tomorrow’s primary election, as allegations of desperation and diabolical practices continue to dominate political discussions within the constituency.

According to claims circulating among party supporters, some aspirants are allegedly resorting to fetish and spiritual practices in an attempt to influence the outcome of the primary election. Reports alleged that ritual items, including a slaughtered goat, intestines, pap, bean cake, and other sacrificial materials packed inside a calabash, were used for spiritual purposes.

A video clip currently making rounds on social media allegedly links Akinboni Kayode, popularly known as “Kayval,” to the incident. Critics described the alleged act as a desperate move that cannot change what God has already destined.

Observers also alleged that money intended for distribution ahead of the election was allegedly taken to a shrine for spiritual backing before being shared among supporters. Many within the progressive family have condemned the development, insisting that leadership should be based on credibility, service, and the will of the people, not fear or manipulation.

Political stakeholders further recalled that a politician allegedly involved in similar acts in the past recently suffered a humiliating electoral defeat, reinforcing the belief that no fetish or demonic plan can override divine will.

Concerns were also raised over the unfortunate events of February 18, which some residents still describe as a dark moment in the community’s political history. Community members and supporters have therefore called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure that such incidents do not repeat themselves in the peaceful town.

In the same vein, members of the progressive family have been advised to exercise caution and avoid collecting money or gifts from suspicious political actors or their associates, stressing that nobody should become a victim of ritual practices in the name of politics.

Despite the tension and allegations, supporters remain optimistic and confident that every alleged spiritual or demonic plot against tomorrow’s primary election is “dead on arrival.”

As many loyalists boldly declared: “One with God is the majority.”

PoliticsSmall Alhaji Media Debunks ‘thug Disruption’ Claims, Describes Report As False by Honbright(op): 9:44pm On May 17
The attention of the media team of Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye (Small Alhaji) has been drawn to a false, reckless and deliberately misleading publication titled “Chaos Rocks Ondo APC Primaries as ‘Small Alhaji’ Allegedly Leads Thugs to Disrupt Process.”

We categorically state that the report is completely baseless, unfounded and a desperate attempt by political detractors to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye, a peaceful democrat and loyal party man who has consistently conducted himself with maturity, responsibility and respect for the democratic process.

For the record, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye was present at the APC Secretariat strictly on the invitation and directive of the party leadership to continue and conclude the collation process of the primary election. His presence was entirely lawful, peaceful and in line with internal party procedures. It is therefore ridiculous and malicious for anyone to twist his legitimate participation in the process into false allegations of disruption or violence.

At no point did Hon. Adefisoye sponsor, mobilise or lead thugs to disrupt the APC primary process in Akure or anywhere in Ondo State. The allegations contained in the report are built entirely on unverified claims, anonymous sources and hearsay designed to create unnecessary tension within the party and mislead members of the public. It is unfortunate that a media platform would publish such damaging accusations without any form of verification or official confirmation.

We also wish to draw public attention to the fact that the image attached to the publication was clearly AI-generated and deliberately manipulated to mislead readers and create a false narrative. The use of fabricated imagery further exposes the desperation and dishonesty behind the entire report.

Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye remains committed to peace, unity and the progress of the All Progressives Congress (APC). We urge party members, supporters and the general public to disregard the publication in its entirety, as it is nothing more than a calculated smear campaign by desperate individuals threatened by the overwhelming support and acceptance enjoyed by Small Alhaji across the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.

We also call on the authors and promoters of the fake report to desist from spreading falsehood capable of heating up the polity. Necessary legal steps will be taken against individuals or platforms involved in the deliberate dissemination of defamatory and malicious content against our principal.

Signed:

PoliticsAlleged Plot To Use Police Ahead Of Ondo Primaries Sparks Concern by Honbright(op): 8:19am On May 02
There are growing concerns over an alleged plan by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo to deploy police operatives to arrest certain individuals in the days leading up to the forthcoming primary elections in Ondo State.

According to reports circulating among concerned citizens and political stakeholders, the move is perceived as an attempt to intimidate and suppress opposition voices ahead of the crucial exercise. The allegations have triggered anxiety within affected communities, with many warning that such actions could undermine the credibility of the electoral process.

Residents have further claimed that they have observed an increased presence of operatives believed to be from the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in the state capital, allegedly positioning for arrests in the days preceding the elections. This development, they say, has heightened tension across the state.

In response, citizens have issued a strong appeal to the Inspector-General of Police (IG), urging immediate intervention to prevent any misuse of law enforcement agencies for political purposes.

They emphasized the need for neutrality and professionalism within the police force, particularly during sensitive political periods.

Stakeholders have also warned that any attempt to carry out what they described as politically motivated arrests will be strongly resisted. They cautioned that efforts to restrict or confront such operations could escalate into a serious crisis, potentially leading to a breakdown of law and order.

Observers note that maintaining peace and public trust will be critical as the primaries approach. Calls are mounting for all parties involved to uphold democratic principles and ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair, and devoid of intimidation.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the media desk of the minister proved abortive at press time.

Efforts to get the Minister's reaction were unsuccessful as of press time.

PoliticsJournalists Urged To Adopt Peace Journalism In Communal Crisis Reportage by Honbright(op): 5:36pm On May 01
...Bright Olorungbotemi, said journalists must move beyond reporting breaking news that escalates crises and focus on balanced, solution-driven coverage.

Media practitioners in Osun State have been urged to embrace conflict-sensitive reporting and adopt peace-driven narratives in covering communal crises, particularly in flashpoint communities.

The call was made on Thursday at Osogbo during a media and peacebuilding workshop organised under the Preach for Peace Initiative, aimed at equipping journalists with the skills needed for responsible and solution-oriented reporting during conflicts.

In his welcome address, the Team Lead of the Peace Building Initiative, Opeyemi Oladimeji, emphasised the critical role journalists play in maintaining peace, especially in conflict-prone areas. He urged participants to be deliberate, balanced, and professional in their reportage.

“We want all the participants present here to be more sensitive in reporting conflicts across the state and beyond,” he said, warning that careless or sensational reporting could escalate tensions rather than promote understanding.

Facilitator Rasheed Adebiyi explained that the training focused on improving how journalists report long-standing communal clashes, particularly those involving Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun.

“We are here to talk to journalists on how to be more sensitive in reporting conflicts. Our analysis has shown that these crises have lingered for years, and the question is when they will be resolved if we continue to report only violence without exploring solutions,” he said.

Adebiyi stressed the importance of solution journalism, urging reporters to go beyond episodic coverage of clashes and highlight peacebuilding efforts within affected communities.

“Journalists should not only report when violence breaks out; they should also examine initiatives that can ensure lasting peace,” he added.

Also speaking, Ridwan Kolawole of the University of Ibadan described the media as a critical partner in peacebuilding, cautioning against sensationalism, ethnic profiling, and inflammatory reporting.

“What we say in the media shapes public opinion, and it can either promote peace or fuel conflict,” he said, adding that global examples have shown how media narratives can worsen crises if not handled responsibly.

The Executive Director of PEACAD Network, Akinremi Olawale, said the workshop was designed to reshape media narratives toward reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.

“Media practitioners are the voices that shape perspectives. We want them to streamline their reports in ways that encourage peaceful engagement, especially in Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun,” he said.

Olawale added that the initiative, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, had earlier engaged youths and community stakeholders as part of broader efforts to resolve recurring conflicts.

“We have seen that the communities want peace, but what is lacking is a structured process to achieve it. The media have a role to play in championing that process,” he noted.

Providing background to the context of the crisis earlier, Jare Tiamiyu explained how media houses in Osogbo allowed one-sided interviews, sponsored news items, fake news and broadcast unverified reports in days leading to the crisis.

He urged media horses and journalists to take greater responsibility in managing information shared with the generalpublic. .

He urged them to be mindful of how they engage with the media and warned against the spread of misinformation.

“We must put an end to sponsoring people to spread fake news or give misleading reports about incidents. Research shows the crisis started with the media and was escalated in the media for weeks before it degenerated into what it is today” he said, stressing that verified and accurate information is key to preventing further conflict.

A member of the initiative, Koyum Hussain Adekunle, said the programme was inspired by recent communal clashes and the need for sustainable peace.

“Peace is life. Without peace, there can be no development. This initiative is about creating lasting harmony in our communities,” he said.

Participants at the workshop commended the organisers, describing the training as insightful and impactful.

Editor of Voice Air Media, Bright Olorungbotemi, said journalists must move beyond reporting breaking news that escalates crises and instead focus on balanced, solution-driven coverage.

Publisher of Harbinger Online Media, Boluwatife Adedokun, said the training had reshaped her understanding of conflict reporting.

“I’ve learned that my reports should calm tensions, not inflame them. The choice of words matters a lot,” she said.

The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts by the Preach for Peace Initiative to foster dialogue, strengthen community engagement, and promote sustainable peace across Osun State.

CrimeOpen Letter To IGP: Idanre High Chief Accuses Police Units Of Intimidation by Honbright(op): 2:36pm On Apr 30
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

From: High Chief Akinloye Akinboni
Subject: Urgent Request for Investigation into Unlawful Arrests and Police Harassment in Idanre, Ondo State

The Inspector General of Police,
Nigeria Police Force Headquarters,
Louis Edet House,
Abuja.

Sir,

I write to you with a deep sense of responsibility and urgency regarding the disturbing and sustained actions of operatives from the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and other tactical units within the Nigeria Police Force in Idanre, Ondo State.

Over the past weeks, there has been a consistent pattern of arrests targeting indigenes of Idanre. These arrests, allegedly carried out on the instruction of the Honourable Minister of Interior, have seen multiple police units, including the SIU, FID, SWAT, IRT, and others, storm our community repeatedly. Those apprehended are often taken away to Abuja under questionable circumstances, leaving families distressed and the entire community in fear.

This trend has become both constant and alarming. The people of Idanre are law-abiding citizens who deserve to live without intimidation or harassment. Our deepest fear is that known murderers and their sponsors are the ones manipulating your office and using the name of the Police to intimidate innocent citizens and settle personal scores. This, if true, is a grave abuse of your institution and a direct threat to justice.

There is a growing sentiment among the people that these operations are not only unjust but politically motivated. However, we retain strong confidence in your leadership and integrity. Your decisive approach during the recent incidents of police brutality in Delta State gave our community hope that you stand for justice and accountability. We believe you are not aware of the distress and outcry in Idanre, and that some elements within the Force are acting independently and misusing your name and office to justify these actions.

If any individual or group, particularly politicians, is attempting to use the Nigeria Police Force as a tool to influence or distort the integrity of any electoral process, especially that of the President, such actions must be thoroughly investigated and decisively addressed.

I respectfully call on your office to:

1. Immediately investigate the activities of the AIG in charge of the FID and other units operating in Idanre.
2. Issue clear directives to halt all forms of unlawful arrests and harassment of innocent citizens.
3. Ensure that any ongoing investigations follow due process, transparency, and respect for human rights.
4. Identify and hold accountable any political actors, murderers, or sponsors found to be instigating or sponsoring these operations for selfish gains.
5. Verify all petitions and arrests linked to Idanre to ensure criminals are not using the Police as a weapon against innocent people.

Sir, the peace in Idanre is fragile at this moment. The people are tired of what they perceive as persistent intimidation. It is my duty to warn, in the interest of peace and order, that continued provocation risks eroding public trust and may lead to civil unrest, an outcome we all must strive to avoid.

We trust in your leadership and your commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law. I urge you to act swiftly to restore confidence and prevent a breakdown of law and order in Idanre.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
High Chief Akinloye Akinboni

CrimeHon. Aderemi Raises Alarm Over Alleged Kidnap Attempt, seeks Police Investigation by Honbright(op): 7:49pm On Apr 21
Hon. Oyewole Aderemi has alleged that he narrowly escaped a suspected kidnapping attempt at his residence in Idanre, describing the incident as a coordinated attack by individuals posing as police officers.

According to a statement made available to journalists, the incident occurred earlier today when about 17 armed men reportedly stormed his residence. The assailants, who allegedly claimed to be operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), arrived in large numbers and began harassing security personnel and members of his household.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the men fired gunshots at the doors of the residence while attempting to gain entry. Unable to locate Hon. Aderemi, the attackers reportedly turned their attention to his wife, subjecting her to intimidation and harassment. Sources also claimed that the suspects were overheard expressing frustration among themselves over the failed operation.

Preliminary inquiries conducted after the incident have raised doubts about the identity of the attackers. It was gathered that the individuals did not properly register their presence at the Idanre Police Station, as required of official operatives. Further verification through a direct call to the IRT office in Abuja reportedly confirmed that no personnel were deployed to Idanre for any operation, reinforcing suspicions that the attackers were impersonators.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Aderemi called on security agencies to urgently investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also used the opportunity to express concerns over his safety, stating that any harm that may come to him should be attributed to his political rivals, stressing that politics should not be treated as a “do-or-die affair.”

He further urged the Commissioner of Police to take immediate action, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation to uncover those behind the attack and prevent future occurrences.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

CrimeWitness Account Of Incident Involving Oyetayo Olakotan James by Honbright(op): 8:11pm On Apr 10
This report is derived from an interview conducted with a student who was present during the incident and was the first individual to discover what had occurred.

According to the witness, the event took place in February at Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State. On that particular day, he had visited the residence of a fellow course mate. The residence was a bungalow-style structure commonly known in Nigeria as a “face-me-I-slap-you” building. Upon unexpectedly entering the room, he encountered Oyetayo Olakotan James together with another male student in what he described as an intimate situation.

“I was completely taken aback by what I saw,” the witness recounted. “It was not something I anticipated. I left immediately and proceeded to report the incident to the school authorities.”

After the report was made, the situation escalated rapidly. The school management initiated efforts to locate the students involved, while information about the incident spread quickly across the campus.

The witness further explained that other students soon became aware of the development. Some individuals raised an alarm, which attracted attention from both members of the student body and residents in the surrounding area.

“As news of the incident circulated, a crowd began to form,” he stated. “Tension rose quickly, with people shouting and confusion spreading throughout the area.”

Additional accounts from other students, whose identities are being withheld, indicate that the gathering soon became disorderly and posed a significant risk. There were increasing concerns that the situation might lead to mob violence, often referred to as jungle justice.

“It was clearly getting out of control,” the witness added. “Emotions were running high, and the situation could have turned dangerous at any moment.”

It is important to note that, at the time of the incident, same-sex relationships were criminalized under Nigerian law. The Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014, specifically Section 4, stipulates that any individual who engages in a same-sex amorous relationship or publicly displays such a relationship commits an offence and may, upon conviction, face imprisonment for up to 14 years. The legislation also prohibits the establishment, operation, or participation in organizations or associations related to such relationships.

In addition to the legal implications, cultural beliefs also significantly influence public reactions. Within traditional Yoruba society, same-sex relationships are generally viewed as unacceptable and inconsistent with established moral and cultural standards. These societal views often contribute to strong and sometimes volatile community responses.

Amid the growing unrest and confusion, Oyetayo Olakotan James was reportedly able to escape before the situation deteriorated further.

Background information obtained about him indicates that he was raised in a strict Christian household in Nigeria. Sources familiar with his upbringing suggest that his environment was shaped by rigid religious principles that discouraged any behavior considered immoral.

It was also reported that he spent a large portion of his early life in boarding schools, largely due to his father’s strict disciplinary approach. According to these sources, his childhood and adolescence were characterized by fear and limited emotional support, particularly as he privately struggled with issues related to his identity.

Following the incident, and out of concern for his safety—both in terms of institutional repercussions and possible reactions from his family—he reportedly fled the residence and did not return home. It is believed that information about the incident had already reached his family members.

Further reports indicate that he sought temporary shelter with a family acquaintance at an undisclosed location. Arrangements were subsequently made to facilitate his departure from the country.

There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that he left Nigeria within the same month as the incident, traveling to an unknown destination at the time this report was compiled.

Speaking on the political arrangement within the constituency, an elder emphasized the need for fairness, equity, and respect for existing zoning principles.

According to him, Idanre should be allowed to complete a total of 16 years of representation in the House of Representatives to match Ifedore’s already extensive years in office.

He explained that Ifedore had already produced representatives for four terms before the emergence of Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye, which would have amounted to five terms (20 years) if not for the political developments that led to Adefisoye’s victory under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), at a time when an automatic ticket had reportedly been given to Hon. Bamidele Baderinwa (White) under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The elder clarified that before the emergence of Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye, Idanre LG had only produced one term in the House of Representatives, while Ifedore had already completed four terms, further justifying the call for balance in representation.

He further recalled that during the 2019 election campaigns, there was no agitation based on “Idanre lokan” or “Ifedore lokan,” as all aspirants freely contested and campaigned across the constituency without zoning sentiments dominating the discourse.

Highlighting the imbalance at the senatorial level, he pointed out that Ifedore has never produced a senator, urging its political actors to seize that opportunity rather than contesting the federal constituency seat.

“They should allow Idanre to complete their 16 years. After that, leaders from both sides can come together to decide the next direction by 2031. For now, fairness demands that we support Idanre. Anything contrary may be seen as an attempt to shortchange them or ignore political realities,” he stated.

Politics"Truth Hits Hard" - Small Alhaji Media Slams Rasaq Obe's Panic Response Online by Honbright(op): 12:42am On Mar 29
The Small Alhaji Media Team has observed with utter amusement the flood of reactions and coordinated noise-making that followed a Facebook post by Mr. Owowa.

Let it be clearly stated: Mr. Owowa is not, and has never been, a media aide to Small Alhaji. So the desperation to link that post to our principal only exposes the panic within certain quarters.

What is even more revealing is the shameless mobilization of BTO agents who rushed out in droves to defend Rasaq Obe. That level of coordinated defense raises serious questions and, if anything, further validates the concerns raised in the original post. When truth hits hard, panic responses like these are expected.

It is both laughable and disappointing that instead of addressing the issues, they resorted to attacking a man who did not even make a statement. This is the height of political desperation.

We have also seen the sudden calls for debate. Let it be known: we are more than ready. Small Alhaji has consistently called for open, issue-based engagement, and we will not shy away now.

However, let us be very clear — this is not about empty noise or emotional outbursts. Rasaq Obe has held several positions representing this state. The people deserve answers. What exactly has been his impact? What policies did he implement? What tangible value did he add at every stage of his public service?

These are the questions that matter — not deflection, not propaganda, and certainly not coordinated online attacks.

If there are allegations on the table, the honorable thing to do is simple: respond with facts and verifiable evidence. Enough of the rhetoric.

As for Small Alhaji, his pedigree, background, and track record remain unmatched and widely known. He does not need to manufacture relevance or hide behind agents.

Politics is not for the faint-hearted, but neither is it a playground for deception. The people are watching, and they deserve truth, accountability, and substance.

We urge Rasaq Obe to rise above the noise, face the issues directly, and present his record to the public. Anything short of that only confirms what many already suspect.

News Update

THE Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), on Saturday formally declared their support for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, pledging to mobilise voters for him.

The declaration was made at the grand reception of several defecting members of the National Assembly an their supporters into its fold in Osogbo, Osun state capital.

“We have no doubt that your defection into the APC will bring about meaningful contributions to our party in the August 8, 2026 governorship and the 2027 presidential elections,” Lawal said.

He appealed to the defectors to remain committed to the party’s objectives and support future electoral efforts aimed at what he described as restoring the lost glory of the state.

PoliticsLG Crisis: Declare State Of Emergency In Osun, civil Rights Organization Urges FG by Honbright(op): 10:15am On Feb 07
The Centre for Justice and community advocacy, Nigeria (CJCAN) in conjunction with Initiative for local government development(ILGD) have called on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, declare a state of emergency in Osun state over the local government leadership tussle.

Addressing a press conference on Friday at NUJ, the spokesperson for the Initiative for Local Government Development (ILGD), Comrade Adebayo Juliet Kanyinsola, stated that declaring a state of emergency in Osun State will not undermine democracy, saying it will save democracy, and restore constitutional governance, and protect lives.

"We are compelled to speak because the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, has continued in a brazen, deliberate, and dangerous disregard for the judgments of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and the Court of Appeal, particularly those recognizing the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led chairmen and councillors as the lawful administrators of local governments in the state."

The Civil Rights added that Osun state is becoming a landscape where fear rules and the lives of the people are treated with what it termed as “grave experience" as on the continued disregard for court judgement in the state.

"Disobedience to Court Judgments and Collapse of Constitutional Order

"The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is clear. The Supreme Court is the final court of the land, and its judgments, alongside those of the Court of Appeal, are binding on all persons and authorities."

"Yet, in Osun State, we have witnessed a troubling pattern where the government has:
Misinterpreted and distorted clear court judgments,
Refused to give effect to those judgments, and
Continued to interfere unlawfully in the administration of local governments."

"By these actions, the Osun State Government has effectively placed itself above the Constitution. This is not a political disagreement; it is a constitutional breakdown. Section 1(3) of the Constitution is unambiguous: any action inconsistent with the Constitution is null and void. Governance in Osun State is no longer being carried out in accordance with the Constitution."

PoliticsRe: Allegations Against Osun Amotekun Over Motorcycle Incident In Osogbo by Honbright(op): 9:08am On Feb 06
The Osun State Amotekun Corps wishes to categorically refute the misleading allegations circulating on social media alleging that operatives of the Corps recklessly pursued and knocked down a motorcyclist and passenger into a ditch in Osogbo.

To set the record straight, the video currently being circulated online is not a recent incident. The footage is from an event that occurred on December 19 in the Lameco area of Osogbo.

Contrary to claims of reckless driving or deliberate pursuit by Amotekun operatives, The motorcyclist was wrongfully attempting to overtake Amotekun vehicle from the right while the Amotekun vehicle was trying to maintain the right lane. That was when the had collision the operational vehicle.

Immediately after the incident, the sympathizer applea to the operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps and they acted responsibly by promptly conveying the injured motorcyclist and passenger to the hospital, where they received medical attention. The Corps also paid for their medical bills, and the matter was amicably resolved at the time.

The renewed circulation of this old and already-settled incident is therefore unwarranted, misleading, and mischievous. It appears to be a deliberate attempt to misinform the public, undermine the integrity of the Osun Amotekun Corps, and cast a state security agency in bad light.

PoliticsAlgon Tackles Osun Apc, Says Handling Of Lg Funds Violated Lg Finance Law by Honbright(op): 3:13am On Feb 03
THE Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State, says the handling of local government funds by the APC violated the Local Government Finance Law.

Hon. Sarafadeen Awotunde, ALGON Chairman, in a statement stated that the law is unambiguous, saying only Directors of Finance and Directors of Administration are legally recognised as signatories to local government accounts. Contrary to this clear provision, the APC ALGON is using politicians as signatories to operate local government accounts, which is a direct violation of the law.

According to him, the law also clearly specified what local government funds are meant for. Despite this, the APC is not paying the salaries of local government workers. Instead, funds are being used to pay people who were sacked by the court, and whose self-assigned tenure has lapsed.

ALGON stresses that those who have no tenure or who were removed by the court cannot appoint any officials and cannot be paying salaries. What is playing out is illegality built on illegality. Nothing legal can be built on an illegal foundation.

Hence, the APC chairmen without any mandate cannot draw salaries, cannot appoint officials, and cannot pay salaries to so-called appointees. Any action taken by such persons has no legal basis.

ALGON further states that the APC erred by violating the local government finance laws. UBA erred by opening accounts with illegal signatories, and the bank violated the law by paying local government funds to individuals without any legal mandate.
