By Bright Olorungbotemi Let me take all citizens and residents of the Sunshine state on a very important journey, ahead of the November 16th, 2024 Ondo governorship Election. Abraham Lincoln said; "Nearly all Men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a Man's character, give him power", by now, the good people of Ondo state can testify to the fact that his Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, codenamed Odatiwa Odirorun, has a heart of gold, sunshine mindset and a midas touch. The fact remains that since his days as a former Deputy Governor, till his constitutionally emergence as Governor of the state, from December till now.. There is no form of misrule of democracy, no excessive display of power and no mismanagement of funds. Mr Governor's positive side far outweigh the negative side of a human-being, a personality who has refused to allow either the accolades or the enormous power that goes along with his governorship position to enter his head. He remains true to himself, treats no one with disdain and stays humble. I touch down on the development and infrastructure in the state, and this further affirmed my belief that GLA is prioritizing the well-being and growth of others, including his team members, party and non-party faithfuls, and the community at large, than his own well-being. He leads with a sense of responsibility, empathy, and kindness. Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a leading leader with a good heart and can be described in many ways, including: •A serving leader who prioritizes the needs of others and serves with compassion. •A great personality who understands and shares the feelings of people •A compassionate Man who shows kindness, concern, and care for people. •A humble dignitary who leads with modesty, humility, and a willingness to listen. •A transformational leader who inspires and motivates others to achieve a shared vision; His decisions so far were based on moral principles and values •A Governor who leads with genuineness, transparency, and integrity; To further confirm this, ask a Nigerian Lawyer, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq, and several others. A survey has shown that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a progressive guardian, a Man of faith, and an encourager; so be it, you can also confirm from those who have had one-on-one with him. However, if you have other things to say about this people's governor, please do not hesitate to say them. One thing stands sure, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a good stabilizer; and stability is what Ondo state needs as of today. May the case of the state not be like a federal constituency who throw away ranking for new comer and the rest is history, in order not to allow perfectionism to haunt our present good development and infrastructure to regression, the people must stand with the Man of Bright Chances. ©Bright Olorungbotemi Babatunde Writes from Idanre LGA, Ondo state. tolorungbotemi.tuna@gmail.com

By Bright Gbotemi ...The waste discarded along the roadsides not only creates an unsightly environment but also poses significant health risks by becoming a breeding ground for diseases. It is already a norm for Sanusi Jimoh and other residents of Kelebe Road in Iragbiji Town of Osun State, to be disturbed by odour emanating from dirt dumped on the road around the area. On a Monday morning in June, Jimoh woke up again to this misfortune, a woman had just tossed another bag of trash beside the road. Curious, he took some bold steps, cease his breath and moved towards the bag, he would later discovered a dead pig among the refuse. Subsequently, the stench quickly permeated the area, creating an unbearable and hazardous environment for residents. “We have been struggling with the illegal dumping of refuse beside the roads,” Jimoh recounted. This issue affects our daily lives, creating unsanitary conditions and posing health risks. Despite our repeated efforts to address this problem, people continue to dump waste here.” “We need the government to intervene by installing signboards and enforcing penalties against violators. Only then can we hope to maintain a clean and safe environment for our community.” Kelebe is just one of a few communities in Osun, which livelihood has been jeopadised by poor enivironmental hyigen caused by improper waste disposal. Voice Air Media gathered that this dumping site has led to the closure of shops for a long time in the area; Landlord, nickname 'Mallam' who spoke with Voice Air Media, "two tenants have packed out from their shop and because of flood i had to remove one container from the spot" Another of photo of the scene... Outbreak Of Cholera According to a report released in July by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), the deadly outbreak of Cholera in Nigeria has killed no fewer than 156 people and over 4,809 people infected with the virus across 187 local government areas (LGAS) in 35 states, within seven months from the beginning of 2024. The agency added that the figure indicated an increase in the number of cases recorded in the same period in 2023 ( 2,740). Also, the number of deaths in 2024 (156), representing a CRF of 3.2 per cent, shows an increase in the number recorded for that same period in 2023 ( 83) which accounted for 3.0 per cent. About 90 per cent of the cases were recorded in 10 states of the federation, with seven of them in the southern region. Of the top 10 states, Lagos, Bayelsa, Abia, Zamfara, Bauchi, Katsina, Cross River, Ebonyi, Rivers and Delta contribute about 90 per cent of the cases, seven of them are southern states. Nigerianinfopedia's report has also highlighted Osun State as sixth dirtiest states in the country; the research gathered that Osun state ranked sixth most dirty state in Nigeria, according to data gotten from clean-up Nigeria and the United nations Environmental program (UNEP). Refuse Repercussions On Health and Environmental Impact In recent times, Nigeria has suffered a growing waste management crisis, with the Nigerian Environmental Society reporting that the country generates approximately 32 million tons of waste annually. Ilegal waste dumping is not just a local problem but a global one. Studies have shown that improper waste disposal can lead to severe environmental and health issues, including water contamination, air pollution, and the spread of diseases. It poses severe health risks and environmental hazards. Decomposing waste attracts pests such as rats, flies, and mosquitoes, which are vectors for diseases like malaria, dengue fever, and leptospirosis. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated improper waste management in Nigeria contributes to 20% of the nation's health burden, particularly in urban areas where the accumulation of waste fosters the breeding of disease-carrying vectors like mosquitoes and rodents. The economic impacts are also profound. It diminished property values, loss of business opportunities, and heightened healthcare costs. Addressing this issue requires a multifaceted approach, including enhanced regulatory frameworks, improving waste management systems, and community engagement to promote sustainable waste disposal practices. The Osun State government has recently warned against maintaining dirty environments. Despite Voluntary Efforts, Illegal Dumping Persist The waste discarded along the roadsides not only creates an unsightly environment but also poses significant health risks by becoming a breeding ground for diseases. Residents’ voluntary acts of mitigating the illegal dumping have come to nothing, as perpetrators persistently kept dumping the waste. Ayinde Adebimpe, the chairman of Odo Omu Iragbiji Zone 13, has been at the forefront of the battle against the illegal roadside dumping that led to blockage of the drainage in the area, and water now flowing on the road, especially during this raining season. As the leader of his zone, Adebimpe receives numerous complaints from residents who are frustrated and concerned about the refuse problem. In response, Adebimpe has organized several community clean-up efforts and spent personal funds to remove the trash. Despite these efforts, the problem remained persistent. “As the chairman of Zone 13, I have received numerous complaints from residents about the refuse problem and how it is affecting their health. “People dump waste by the roadside, creating an eyesore and a breeding ground for diseases. We have organized several community clean-ups and even spent our own money to remove the trash, but the problem persists,” he told the VOICE AIR MEDIA. For Mohammed Akinloye, a hotel worker and businessman, the issue of illegal dumping goes beyond aesthetics and health; it also poses serious safety hazards. Akinloye's concerns are particularly acute at sharp corners where illegally dumped waste can lead to accidents. And despite repeated warnings and pleas to the community, the dumping continues unabated. In his words, Akinloye said “The refuse dumping problem is particularly concerning at sharp corners, where it can also cause accidents. There was a time, the waste was dumped on both sides of the road. We have told people many times not to drop refuse there, but they do not listen.” Another resident, Popoola Muhideen, has been vocal about his frustrations with the ongoing issue of roadside dumping. As an active community member, he has seen firsthand how unhealthy practice affects both the environment and public health. With repeated requests for people to stop dumping waste by the roadside, the problem persists, leaving Muhideen and others feeling disheartened and defeated. “The ongoing issue of roadside dumping is not only unsightly but also harmful to our health and the environment. We have repeatedly asked people not to dump their waste here, but they ignore us. It is frustrating to see our efforts go to waste,” Muhideen lamented. Highlighted by Ayo Ade Ibiribigbe, a local businessman. The economic repercussions of illegal dumping are significant; citing that the condition of the roads is already in poor shape, as exacerbated by the illegal dumping of refuse. Ibiribigbe recounted a disturbing incident involving a dead pig that created an unbearable stench and further degraded the area. “It affected us greatly, and we often have to stay outside to monitor the area," he said. The situation has forced residents and business owners to spend their own money on clean-up efforts, yet the dumping continues. Calls for Government Intervention Residents are unanimous in their call for government intervention to address the persistent problem of illegal roadside dumping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjoVoIbc1hE?si=BADiUPBfV_KOp8jU They believe that the installation of signboards and the enforcement of strict penalties for violators are crucial steps that can mitigate the issue. “The government must step in to provide proper waste disposal facilities and enforce strict penalties for those who violate waste management rules. “A signboard indicating 'No Dumping of Refuse Here' would be a good start,” Adebimpe, the chairman of Odo Omu Iragbiji Zone 13, implored. Also, Akinloye suggested that the government should help by putting up a signboard and allowing them to report violations to the authorities. “This way, we can call security officers to handle those who disregard the rules,” he said. Similarly, Muhideen added, "We need the government to take this issue seriously and implement measures to prevent illegal dumping.” Adding “Sign Boards and fines” for offenders could help deter the behavior. Ayoade Ibiribigbe, the local businessman, stressed the need for government action to protect the community, through providing signboards and enforcing strict penalties for illegal dumping to protect their community. “We Are Aware Of The Issue” - State Government Reacts When our VOICE AIR MEDIA correspondent reached out to the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation of Osun State, Mr. Mayowa Adejoorin, in response to these concerns, Adejoorin expressed that they are aware of the issue and are committed to taking necessary action to address it. “We will reach out to the affected areas and implement measures to prevent illegal dumping,” the commissioner stated. Osun Police has arrested notorious cultist and alleged serial killer, Bode Owoeye, also known as Bode Itaapa, for conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms and murder. Owoeye, 32, was declared wanted by the police command for involvement in Aiye Confraternity, which has been outlawed in the state. Announcing Owoeye’s arrest during a suspect parade in Osogbo on Friday, the Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, revealed that his arrest in Ilesa came about as a result of credible intelligence at the disposal of the command. Opalola also disclosed that Owoeye confessed during interrogation to being a notorious political thug whose group was engaged in the services of Sanya Omirin, the Peoples Democratic Party’s House of Representatives member for Ijesa South Federal Constituency. According to the police spokesperson: “On 9th February, 2024, at about 6:20 pm, complainants reported at Iperindo Police Station that, on 8th February, 2024, their children Kelechi Agha and Tega Robinson left homes to their mining sites and they did not return before the case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation. “Credible intelligence revealed that members of the Aye Confraternity were sighted freely moving around with dangerous weapons on that day, which led the detectives to search the hideouts of the cultists, where one Beretta pistol and a black mask were found and registered as exhibits. “Subsequently, the detectives on the rescue mission later apprehended one Bode Owoeye, aka “Bode Itaapa,” who was identified as a member of Aye Confraternity and who was on the wanted list of Osun State. “During the interrogation, he confessed that other members of Aye confraternity were responsible for the abduction and killing of the victims inside the bush. “He also admitted that his group was the political thugs working for one Honourable Sanya Omirin, who usually gives them instructions through another wanted cultist, Adefioye Solomon, aka Solo Iwara, who is responsible for so many killings within the Ilesha axis. “Also, he confessed that they attacked one Honourable Ayodeji Olaolu, the APC candidate, during the election into the House of Representatives in 2023, at the party secretariat and shot him in his head and chest. “He further revealed that the confraternity had over 30 pump action rifles, which were mostly procured before the 2023 election. “Subsequently, the detectives arrested one Samuel David, who was mentioned to be a member of Aye Confraternity and involved in the killing of one Ibrahin Taiwo, aka Omo-Alhaja. “During the investigations, the suspect mentioned his five fellow hitmen under Kehinde Itaapa, who stormed the venue of the PDP rally on 21/02/2023 and killed the deceased. In the course of the investigation, one of the complainants came to report that, she was the mother of late Taiwo Adebiyi, aka “Omo-Alhaja,” and alleged one Shittu Lekan, aka “Araba” to be the killer of her son. “Samuel David later took the detectives to Oke-Eta village, where he kept one pump action gun, given to him by Bode Owoeye to perpetrate the crime and it was recovered as an exhibit. Olabode Owoeye stated further that he bought the gun from Mukaila Lateef, his arms dealer, who illegally sold some guns to him.” Arrested with Owoeye were Mukaila Lateef, 45, and David Samuel, 26. Exhibits recovered by the police from the gang include one blue-coloured unregistered TVS motorcycle, one locally made Beretta pistol with three live cartridges, one single barrel gun and one pump action. ...as Commission set to appoint Electoral Officers The Chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye Esq., has declared the intention of the Commission under his leadership to issue regulations for eligibility to contest local council elections as well as the Commission's readiness to appoint Electoral Officers, Assistant Electoral Officers and other staff of the Commission ahead of Osun local council elections scheduled for February, 2025. In a statement signed by Yemi Badru, Press Secretary to OSSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye hinted that in line with the timetable/schedule of activities towards the conduct of Osun local council elections earlier released in February this year, the time for political parties to conduct their primaries is around the corner, hence, the need to issue eligibility regulations to guide participating political parties in fielding qualified candidates for the elections, as any unqualified candidate fielded by any political party will not find his/her way to the ballots as the Screening Committee of the Commission will be readily on ground to address any eligibility issue. In the exact words of the Chairman, he maintained that "having earlier given notice of Osun local council election in line with the dictate of the law, and having issued timetable/schedule of activities for the conduct of local council elections in Osun State, the time is ripe to issue regulations so as to guide participating political parties in the choice of candidates for the election. "This is within the jurisdictional compass of the Commission. As we all know, there are three categories of politicians who may wish to contest on the platforms of their respective political parties. "We have private citizens, government employees and government appointees. While the constitution stipulates 30 days before the election for an employee in the service of any tier of government willing to contest an election to resign his/her employment, a political appointee at any level doesn't enjoy such a latitude as he/she must resign within the time as may be stipulated by the electoral body. This does not concern a private individual who is not a government employee or appointee. "Other regulatory issues and eligibility criteria include schedule of fees for nomination forms, change/substitution of candidates, campaign modalities, meetings, etc. All these will be contained in the regulations that will be issued so soon". In the same vein, appointment of Electoral Officers, Assistant Electoral Officers and other staff of the Commission will be announced within the next few days. As disclosed by the Chairman, "appointment of Electoral Officers for the local council areas is sacrosanct. They will be the eyes, ears and body of the Commission in implementing the programs and activities of the Commission in each of the local council areas". The Chairman further assured that as earlier promised, the forthcoming Osun local council elections will be a giant leap forward in the history of local government elections in Osun State, as he reiterated his commitment to conducting the freest, fairest, most transparent and most credible local government elections ever in the history of Osun State. Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association has called the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja to call men of the Nigerian Army in Osun state to order over a protracted land dispute between the association and the Nigerian Army which has taken a new turn despite two different court injunctions affirming the association’s ownership of the contested land. While speaking with newsmen on Monday, the secretary of the association, Folorunsho Sulaimon, expressed concern over the alleged continuous harassment and intimidation by the Nigerian Army, reiterating that the association holds the warrant of possession and the state of execution underscoring their legal right to the land. Sulaimon added that the persistent actions of the army were not only in contempt of the court ruling but also a source of undue stress and fear among their members, calling on the authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice prevails. In his reaction, the spokesperson for the Kelebe-Omu Land Owners Association, Alhaji Hamed Loroki, called on both the federal and state governments to step in and mediate the issue. He stressed the importance of government intervention in maintaining peace and harmony in Osun State. Loroki added that the alleged interference of the army on the land dispute was threatening the peaceful coexistence in Osun State, appealing to the government to enforce the court’s decision and put an end to the intimidation faced by their members. Meanwhile, Chief Amodu Akanbi, the Oluponna of Osogboland and Chairman of the Kelebe-Omu Land Owners Association, has urged the Chief of Army Staff to intervene and find a lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict. Akanbi stressed the need for a peaceful settlement to avoid further tensions in the area, saying, “The Kelebe-Omu Land Owners Association remains resolute in defending their rights as the legally recognise owners of the land, as confirmed by the 2023 court injunction. “The association will continue to advocate for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and legal means, hoping for swift action from the relevant authorities to prevent further escalation.” Source...https://voiceairmedia.com/2024/07/09/osogbo-landowners-alert-chief-of-army-staff-lagbaja-says-your-boys-are-calling-for-war-in-osun/

There was panic in a part of Osogbo, Osun State capital on Monday when soldiers stormed a gathering of the Kelebe-Omu Landowners Association. In the ensuing mayhem, one of the drivers of the caterpillar employed by the landowners and a Mobile phone of a member of the landowners association was whisked away by the soldiers. Voice Air Media correspondent who witnessed the incident narrated that the landowners had gathered to enforce the judgement of an Osun State High Court sitting in Ile-Ife. Recall that Justice A. O. Ayoola had on January 10, 2023, affirmed that the association members were the rightful owners of the land in dispute. Without an appeal from the Nigerian Army, the court also gave the association the go-ahead to possess the land through a warrant of possession. The Chairman of the Association, Chief Amodu Akanbi reacting to the development revealed that member of the association has been abducted , also a Mobile phone of one of them was snatched by one of the Soldiers and taken to the Nigerian Army Engineering Construction Command, Ede, Osun State. Amodu called on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Ademola Adeleke and Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja to intervene to avoid bloodshed and unnecessary tension. He said, “After the judgment, we discovered that the Nigerian Army was selling plots on the property. We approached the court with the evidence and it was tendered as exhibits in contempt of court. “We came here again to enforce the court judgment and the soldiers attacked us. Two of our members have been abducted and taken away. Phones have been seized and several of our properties confiscated. “We want Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke to intervene and make the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja see the reason why violence should be avoided. Osun State is known for peace and peace is what we want.” The landowners had in a protest early in the year asked the Osun State House of Assembly to intervene in the matter. THE Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC has announced the postponement of the local government election indefinitely. ODIEC Chairman, Dr Joseph Aremo disclosed this at a meeting with stakeholders held at the commission’s headquarters in Akure. Dr Aremo hinged the postponement on the non compliance of political parties with rules and regulations of the conduct of the election. ODIEC Chairman while lamenting that no political party submitted any candidate’s name said the commission would review it’s activities and a new date will be communicated in due course. Reacting to the development, Chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Prince Olaoluwa Adesanya said political parties deliberately boycotted the process due to the refusal of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to meet with the IPAC leadership ahead of the local government election. Prince Adesanya noted that the state governor had refused to meet with IPAC despite several letter written to him. The Council vowed not to participate in the conduct of the election until after meeting with the governor to ascertain the level of readiness of the state government for the conduct of the council poll. In another reaction, ODIEC Chairman, Dr Joseph Aremo described the action of IPAC as sabotaging the efforts of the commission in the conduct of the local government election. At the political engagement workshop held on June 27, 2024, via Cyberspace, had renowned architect and humanitarian, Gbenga Adene, who call for better leadership in Ondo State. Adene highlighted three key points that he believes are essential for good leadership. Firstly, he emphasized the need for leaders who will put the masses first, citing Dr. Olusegun Mimiko as an example; “infrastructure in Health, Education, and other provisions, that met the people’s need” “A good leader will prioritize the needs of the people, not their own personal interests,” “The former Governor Dr. Mimiko engaged with local communities to understand their needs, and that’s the kind of leadership we need in Ondo State.” Secondly, Adene stressed the importance of leaders with a good head and heart towards the masses. “A good leader should have emotional intelligence, be able to empathize with the people, and have a heart for the masses,” he said. “We need leaders who will not prioritize personal glory or gratification over the needs of the people.” Lastly, Adene encouraged citizens to scrutinize leaders before casting their votes. “We need to look at a leader’s antecedents, their policies, and their actions. We need to ask ourselves if they truly care about our well-being,” “We must not vote based on accomplishments, influence, sentiment or emotion, but on the merit and credibility of the candidate.” The event was hosted by Bright Olorungbotemi OneClass and sponsored by VOICE AIR MEDIA Online News. Adene’s remarks resonated with the audience, that votes count, as the state prepares for the upcoming election, Adene’s call for full participation of citizens during and after voting for a better Ondo state. Our Correspondent gathered that Gbenga Adene’s message is clear: Ondo State deserves a good head as leader, and it’s up to the citizens to demand it. By prioritizing the masses, exhibiting emotional intelligence, and scrutinizing leaders before voting, citizens can ensure that only credible leaders emerge in the state. We owe it to ourselves and future generations.

In a political engagement workshop held on June 27, 2024, in Cyberspace, Gbenga Adene, guest speaker, address participants’ concerns on leadership and governance in Ondo State. The event was organized by Voice for Democracy and Good Governance. When asked about the qualifications of candidates in the upcoming election compared to the past administration, Adene emphasized the importance of a good head over a good degree. “I have seen a Ph.D holder who gets involved in domestic violence with his wife. That is the reality that someone has gone to school does not make them kind,” “We need to look beyond qualifications and focus on a candidate’s antecedents and policies.” In response to a question on abandoned projects, Adene encouraged citizens to hold leaders accountable. “White-elephant projects should be abandoned, but projects that benefit the masses should be completed,” “We need to demand accountability from our leaders and ensure that they prioritize our needs.” Adene also addressed the issue of politicians using the same strategy which is people’s pain points for political campaign. “Politicians use our pain points to get our votes, but they don’t care about our well-being. We need to be entrepreneurs, we need to be self-employed,” They know that many people look up to the government, which is why they leverage that to get our attention. We need to open our eyes, just like those Nigerians who were once fervent in prayer but no longer pray about certain matters since they travelled abroad because they realized that some things do not require prayers, but rather work and good governance,” “We must not rely on politicians for solutions, but take charge of our own destiny.” Adene’s points resonated with the audience, who expressed appreciation for his honesty and guidance. As Ondo State prepares for the upcoming election, Adene urged the citizens to demand for better leadership and hold leaders accountable.

By Bright Olorungbotemi, Idanre born Publisher. As November 16th, 2024 Gubernatorial election approaches faster, it is necessary we begin to scrutinize who the main political actors are and what they offer. In this matter of discussion, I will discuss on their personalities, chances of winning and their party strength, especially the two major contenders in the race with the broom in the hand of the Governor, Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the umbrella in the other hand of the leading opposition the former Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi. Ondo state is unarguably now a defacto two-party state. The APC and the PDP are the true mammoths of the state's political landscape. As November 16th approaches fast, the question everyone is asking is: Is there any difference between the APC and the PDP? Aren’t both parties the same? These questions are not without reason. I mean incidences of either parties members “defecting” everyday to the other has been easier than opening a sachet of noodles. However from observation since the birth of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) in Nigeria, on 6th February, 2013, while in 2015 presidential election, the party takes over power from the People's Democratic party PDP at the federal level, and also in the following year, 2016 the party has been the ruling party in Ondo state, till date. Recalled three years after the APC was founded, in Ondo state, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu became first APC man to win in Ondo State as Governor, He won with 244, 842 votes defeating Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 150, 380, in the November 26th, 2016 Gubernatorial election, and the total number of votes cast was 580,887. While, on April 19th, 2003, late Olusegun Agagu won election for a first tenure with 655,968 votes as a People's Democratic party (PDP) Man, defeating AD Incumbent Governor, Adebayo Adefarati who picked 233,900 votes, while the total number of registered voters in the state was 1,504,181. I have seen that both parties are not the same. They are neither better nor worse than each other, yet they are still not the same. The key difference I see between both parties is in terms of their party structure and decision making process. In the APC, we all agree that there are too many godfathers. And it’s safe to say that a higher caucus comprised of godfathers determine how decisions are taken at the APC; Bola Tinubu decides for the South West, even before he emerged as the number one citizen of the country, Nigeria and a whole lot of other shadow figures. So, decision-making is less chaotic in the APC, but the case is totally different in Ondo state since 2016, Late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was never a product of the 'godfather Tinubu' both in his first and second term as governor under APC in the state. But in the PDP, things are more chaotic. The PDP comprises of the most ambitious politicians Nigeria has ever seen. And each has to vie for power or lose out to the others, from Atiku who claimed the Almighty Man in the PDP at National and Federal at the moment, and Wike who claimed the foundational and founding Chieftain of the party in the Southern Zone; also from Eyitayo Jegede(2016) to Eyitayo Jegede (2020), but again in this 2024 Gubernatorial election, the case is different in respect to the 'traditional' zoning arrangements with the birth of Agboola Ajayi, the PDP seems to be an easier ground for politicians to compete and grow. Now a former Deputy Governor under APC and former ZLP candidate, now he’s a key decider in the affairs of the Ondo PDP. This somewhat “zero-sum game” situation ensures that decision making in the PDP cannot easily be traced to godfather but can be hijacked by big personality. Yet decisions are not being made easily. Decisions are made only after complex negotiations, and usually involve different power brokers. We’ve seen the PDP behave this way in the 2024 decides. However, the deal making and negotiations in the APC has been a key reason why the party is in the fore front of the November 16th 2024 election. Too many cooks they say spoils the meal, as the party had picked the Incumbent Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who happened to be the most experienced incumbency candidate, a former Deputy Governor and a former acting Governor under the APC party, among all others. And with the settling of the APC primary saga whereby, the all time governorship contestant Olusola Oke backs the Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and order his structure to work for the APC candidate, unlike the two-time governorship candidate of the PDP, Eyitayo Jegede who didn't participate in their party primary and he hasn't officially or publicly collapsed his structure in the party for the PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi; Is Ondo PDP resorting to old ways again, where party members voted against their candidate in the 2020 governorship as their Flagbearer lost 15 out of the state’s 18 local government areas, as marriage of campaign and canvasing for votes and politicking tactics are ongoing. C'mon, where else would the winner of the November 16th, 2024 poll comes from; (A). The Incumbent who is the number one citizen of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa with less than six months in office and whose supporters are chanting "Ondo state Dirorun, Ondo state Datiwa", or (A). Ex-candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, with the chanting of "Agbo", who came a distant third in 2020 governorship election by scoring 69,127 votes(12.1 percent), out of a total of 572,745 valid votes in the election. By Comr. Bright Olorungbotemi Tunde (One Class) (Voice For Good Governance And Democracy) Reflecting on the journey that has prepared Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State for his current role is almost redundant, as his extensive experience speaks for itself. His Excellency, Aiyedatiwa has previously distinguished himself in several capacities: He was the APC candidate for Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency in 2015, served as a commissioner of the Niger Delta Development Commission, and occupied the seat of Deputy Governor from 2021 to 2023 under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. These roles have undeniably prepared him for his current leadership position as the incumbent governor of Ondo State. Governor Aiyedatiwa has inherited a legacy of quality leadership and selfless service from his predecessor. While, His achievements in his first 100 days in office are noteworthy. They include; Grant's to young entrepreneurs (₦30M), training 618 young people in tech skills, payment of WAEC fees for secondary school students (₦550M), loans to traders, artisans, and SMEs (₦220M), recruitment of teachers, construction of rural roads across the state (₦3.4B), rehabilitation of 60km of roads across the state, and recruitment of 650 health workers. These accomplishments demonstrate that Governor Aiyedatiwa has indeed hit the ground running. Ondo State, known for its hospitality and peaceful people, continues to thrive under his leadership. Following his initial successes, Governor Aiyedatiwa has distributed Tricycles to farmers, increased grants to young entrepreneurs from ₦30M to ₦60M, proposed the construction of two new technical colleges to promote skill acquisition, intervened in the Ikare Central Mosque saga, distributed 1,200 tonnes of palliative grains to livestock farmers, enhanced lighting in the state capital (Alagbaka to Igbatoro Road), supported efforts to restore electricity to Ondo South, unveiled an e-learning platform for youth training. Also, He has rehabilitated water facilities, recruited 165 ODIRS staff, addressed unemployment and created more jobs, cleared salary arrears of ex-political office holders after seven years, deployed more buses for free shuttle services for school pupils, protected border communities, commissioned a power substation in Ondo South, declared support for a new generation of farmers and boosted the economy with cocoa production, donated relief materials to 300 Akure North residents affected by a rainstorm, commenced the Oda Road dualization project, awarded wage increases to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal, initiated the construction of a concrete walkway and jetty at Obe-nla, Ilaje, and ensured the prompt payment of workers' salaries. Governor Aiyedatiwa has emphasized the importance of attracting local and foreign investments to boost the economy and create jobs, stating, "We'll offer incentives to attract local and foreign investments to boost our economy. Creating jobs is of paramount importance to my administration." With the upcoming November 16th, 2024 gubernatorial election, as the APC candidate, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa appears ready to continue addressing the state's challenges. His efforts signal a renewed hope for economic and social progress in Ondo State. In closing, I leave Governor Aiyedatiwa with the words of former NBA basketball player Michael Jordan: "Earn your leadership every day." This, I presume is fitting for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the new face of governance in Ondo State, Nigeria, as he carves out his own niche.
