Elliotwiz1: jesus christ did not pay tithe, yes because tithe is to be paid to someone who you consider a spiritual father and no one was about Jesus when he was on earth, hence no need to pay tithe. And did his followers pay tithe to him since you claimed he didn't pay cos he was the spiritual leader? After his ascension, did his apostles receive tithe from any of the early christians either? |
Elliotwiz1: and who said paying tithes is compulsory? Did you read my posts?hmmmYes, they make it compulsory, thats why they have tithe cards, envelopes and register for it. Some churches use your record to attend to you when their attention is needed by you. The every sunday 'lashing' and 'threat' is what? Is that not compulsion by threat and nagging/force/blackmail/brainwashing? |
tunapa2009: It was recorded once for Abraham abi. What prompted him to give the tithe (spoil)? If its relevant to salvation and christianity as some pastors make it seem, don't you think Jesus and the early Christian would have made mention of it at least once? |
Elliotwiz1: so why did you quote those verses? You dont even have a reason for doing what you do, tithe is giving! But in a special form, what i'm telling you is that giving is biblical!Sorry but who's against giving? Tithe in any form is a compulsory giving and has no reward in heaven according to Jesus in the parable of the poor widow. Only willful giving is appreciated in heaven/attracts blessings. |
Culled: Full Question I was born and raised in the Mormon Church, went on a mission, and did everything a good Mormon should do, including tithing. Since my wife and I converted to the Catholic Church we still have nagging doubts that we should be tithing to our parish (as we did when we were Mormons: ten percent of our gross income), except that it's much harder to do so now that we have several children. The Mormon Church taught me that tithing is mandatory. What's the Catholic Church's position? Answer Although the Church teaches that offering some form of material support to the Church is obligatory for all Catholic adults who are able to do so, it doesn't specify what percent of one's income should be given. Remember, tithing was an Old Testament obligation that was incumbent on the Jews under the Law of Moses. Christians are dispensed from the obligation of tithing ten percent of their incomes, but not from the obligation to help the Church. The key to understanding how God wants us to give to the Church is found in 1 Corinthians 16:2, "On the first day of the week [Sunday] each of you should set aside whatever he can afford," and in 2 Corinthians 9:5-8, So I thought it necessary to encourage the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for your promised gift [donation], so that in this way it might be ready as a bountiful gift and not as an exaction. Consider this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each must do as already determined without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. To paraphrase: God doesn't demand a fixed amount of money from us; he wants us to give from the heart. If people are forced by their church to give a certain percent of their income, that's extortion. If they give freely and cheerfully the amount they are able, that's a gift. |
jambogini: Please list the churches or congregations aside from Jehovah's Witness that dont pay tithe, i do like to visit such congregations.I think the catholics don't (someone said so on this thread) Latter rain assembly don't preach tithe either |
Tom29: devil don dey capture dis one. devil knows d bible more than any human being. we must resist him and spot all d anti christ like dis one. 95% of dis site members are anti christ. all must shine dier eyezSorry but who is this and how does your comment contribute anything to the discussion on ground? Paying or not paying tithe is now what's being used to gauge who is of christ or anti? You have no knowledge of the word, go seek the word now that you still have the chance to. My last word to you... |
Elliotwiz1: is that the only point you read? I'm not here to argue about this, i just discovered i'm wasting my mb by replying You'...I've told you the truth, if you like accept, if you like refuse it, It's your choice.....you like quoting only the versions of the bible that favours you, you look blindly at the real things and focus on what favours You'...It's your choice... mal3:11="....if i will not rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil...." does this ring a bell? ....tithe is being paid to someone who is spiritually higher than you, or who you consider a spiritual father...was anyone above Jesus when he was on earth? No, no one was...above the apostles?? I dont know of any, Paul did not pay because he was not a worker...he was a stern evangelism who feeds from what others give...bible passages shows that people paid tithe or what looks like tithe during the days of the apostles, the story of ananias and his wife is a clear example....you know the truth, but You've refused to accept it, You've blinded your mind from the truth, if you dont want to pay your tithe, feel free but dont preach it as a doctrine of christ....!...Walks out of the thread* |

Kindly help with bible reference too and pls stop quoting malachi for questions pertaining the new testament. YOU MEAN THE STORY OF Annaias & Sapphira WAS ABOUT TITHE? Anything to support what you can backup? How does this concern tithe? Acts 5:1-11 New International Version (NIV) Ananias and Sapphira Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. 3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” 5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.” 9 Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” 10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events. |
Elliotwiz1: please scroll up and read all the previous messages i posted....if you still dont understand, then ask again.... Hints:false.prophets* not.compulsory* you.dont.need.it.to.enter.heaven* It's.not.a.sin* it.serves.as.a.shield.of.protection*Paying tithe serves as protection? Wonders! did any of the founders of christianity pay tithe? If yes, who and who with references. |
Elliotwiz1: false prophets are everywhere, they preach about wealth and not salvation, but because they always preach about tithe does not mean It's wrong, you have a choice, you either pay it or you dont, they wont force you to sign a cheque!Oga, kindly address my questions, what comments aren't contributing to the growth of those who need clarification on this issue. |
Elliotwiz1: it is not compulsory, if you dont want to pay your tithe, suite yourself. If its not compulsory, why do the pastors preach about it every sunday with curses attached to it if you don't pay? Are those not paying tithe eating from hand to mouth? Why the 'noise' on tithe by the pastors? What is the place of tithe in making heaven? What is the role of tithe in salvation Jesus came to give freely? |
Where is the sense in giving "God' 10% of what God gave you so he can open the windows of heaven to pour more unto you so the circle can continue? Would a father expect his children to give him 10% of the 'pocket money ' he gives them so as to give them more? Jesus preached mostly on generous giving and frown on compulsory giving. Any compulsory giving lacks dignity and no blessing is attached to it says our lord Jesus Christ. |
Cece winnas Donnie mcurckie Michael W Smith. All these people's songs. |
^^^^ so its only you that have someone in ASUU abi? You are funny, you're not worth my precious sunday. |
Demdem: His reputation is wellknown here. Their kind dont relent in their evil deeds. Its a shame. A big shame. You dey mind am? |
wesley80: What is the lie? That lecturers were not paid or they didnt resolve to call off the strike when they receive 50% of their outstanding allowance? What exactly am I lying about? I'm waiting for you guys to prove me wrong. I've thrown down the gauntlet, go make enquiries and tell me Federal lecturers didnt receive their pay on friday, till then you and the rest may as well keep quiet like the paper intellectual that tried those cheap lines before you. You should be thankful someone is feeding you with internal scoops.Feeding me with what? A cat telling a dog it should be happy its giving the dog 'milk' to drink ba? They'll call off strike if they get their salaries, trying to make the world believe ASUU is only fighting for their salary. This won't work. We all know your stand with this govt, you can't be caught saying or spreading anything against this govt. Do tell us something new. |
AjanleKoko: Slow isn't the end of it. He is persistently caught in possesion, and not breaking up play as expected. He plays differently, so i don't expect him to trap balls like busq. Bartra is growing very fast and i'm loving this. The team did absolutely well and i'm glad with the scoreline. |
CFCfan: According to wiki, it's capacity is 25,000.That stadium can't be 25k, merely looking at it alone is enough to tell you it should be less than 15k |
CFCfan: @ honeric: The renovation work on the Abuja stadium has been completed since last month?m, but the NFF had some concerns about the pitch's drainage system. To me, its not completed, a stadium of that magnitude not having a standard drainage system is not complete. |
AjanleKoko: Song is awful in this game.Maybe match rusty. He's now slower. |
AjanleKoko: Why tight? Now you can see why i typed what i type.. Lol experimentation Keshi style from tata |
When you find one, let me know! |
My dream group should be Spain Nigeria England Japan! |
Its gonna be tight but i think a 2:1 is feasible to me. |
Seeing Wesley80 as the op, i automatically knew i was going to end up reading lies similar to that of Abati and labara motiku. Lol |
Have we lost any competitive match at the Abuja nationa stadium (Senior)? Imo, i really do not fancy calabar stadium, never liked that stadium, too 'ordinary' to rep the whole of Nigeria. I think TBS should be grassed with natural grass or we move back to Abuja if completed. |
