Neptunz:what i don't understand is his continuous comparison, we're not comparing here because they are both not on the same level Nigeria is less than 50yrs old, America is more than 200yrs old, can you compare the experience/knowledge/technique/life of a 200yrs old man to that of a 50yrs old man? |
In your attempts to dodge the whole thing, you failed to include this definition from the same UN UN definition: A slum, as defined by the United Nations agency UN-HABITAT, is a run-down area of a city characterized by substandard housing and squalor and lacking in tenure security. does those houses in the pics qualify as the above or not? |

Enyimba on course for Super Four title Posted: 2010-08-07 08:39 Enyimba overcame a missed penalty and going a goal behind to put themselves within one point of victory at the Super Four with a 2-1 win over Kwara United on Friday. In the day's early game, 10-man Sunshine Stars claimed the scalp of league runners-up Kano Pillars with a 1-0 win. Enyimba now only need to avoid defeat against Pillars in their final game on Sunday to claim their second trophy of the year. But that did not look a likely scenario when Philip Auta struck a tame penalty into the hand of Kwara keeper Wasiu Ibrahim. The Afonja Warriors were happy enough with the reprieve and duly took advantage through Kabiru Sanusi on the stroke of half time. With defeat looming, Okey Emordi threw on David Tyavkase, Henry Uche and Rasheed Olaniyi and the subs masterminded a siege on the Kwara area. Reward took a while in coming, but it did 20 minutes before the end when Ekene Iwuorie turned in Kenneth Anyanwau's free kick. The defender was on hand to claim the winner when he volleyed home from opposite fullback Ofem Inah's diagonal cross. And Atanda Sakibu had a chance to make the margin of victory even greater, only to fluff his lines from six yards out. |
Sagamite:UN definition: A slum, as defined by the United Nations agency UN-HABITAT, is a run-down area of a city characterized by substandard housing and squalor and lacking in tenure security. This is a dictionary meaning: accept lower standards than usual: to stay in or go to a place that you would usually consider unacceptable (often used humorously) So the pics i posted qualify to be called a slum according to UN/US standard of living. a 1st world country should not have anywhere looking that way bro because IT'S CALLED 1ST WORLD COUNTRY. Sagamite:Lol, you saw them last year? hehehehehe, that's like more than 1yr ago. like i said, if you want to compare, open a new thread for that, i am not going to derail this thread, and no need to tackle any of these issues here, just open a new thread for that ok? ![]() |

What about the scoreline between Kano Pillars vs Sunshine stars? |
Sagamite:One more thing, Isolo, Festac, Yaba are not for middle class, they are for all, i mean every kind of people live in these place. All the same, let's not derail the thread, it says "PICTURES OF SLUMS IN THE USA" so stop comparing. |
Sagamite:When last were you at these places you just named? I am beginning to think twice about the way you reason. |
And she knows |
Sagamite:Nah, the topic reads : Pictures of slums in the USA. Sagamite:Bro, you can dribble round, it's no problem to me, now, back to the topic The UN that said there are no slums are the same one that defined slum as a place with no proper drainage, polluted, substandard area, e.t.c from the 3 below pics, what name are you going to give these places? |

chaircover: honeric01:Till today, i still do not know who rules that home, i still remember the whole thing, it wasn't once nor twice did the scenario repeat itself, there was even a day the man came down angrily yelling and asking me why i was washing there, i reminded him that his wife also acted this same way the other day asking me why i was not washing here, i kept wondering why the man had to always fight for power and control with his wife, ended up discovering that the woman wanted to be in control. One more thing, in a house where 2 masters dwell, the rest inhabitants suffer the scorns of their disagreement/power tussle. Kids that grow in such house/settings won't learn anything about respect rather they're going to learn how to yell, cuss, fight, slap, beat and even break their partners when they grow up. |
Good, now can we play? ![]() |
Sagamite:Bro, you have the right to keep deceiving yourself, it won't hurt me, so ride on, you can as well twist the meaning of slum just to fit your own imagination, but the word still remains and others know the detailed meanings. The pics i posted are of houses some Americans live in and it's not isolated, check out some of them, you'd find cars parked around them, people are in these houses, they're not abandoned houses except you want to pretend you didn't see all these, NOW I REPEAT AGAIN, STOP TRYING TO COMPARE LAGOS SLUMS WITH AMERICAN SLUMS BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHAT THE TOPIC IS PREACHING. if you want to compare, open a NEW thread, then name it "Lagos Slums VS American slums" OK? ![]() |
tpiah:Can you do something better? do you know you can also write on Wikipedia without having to prove that you know a mint of what you're talking about? |
OAM4J:You can keep twisting and turning, but you can't twist turn the truth, the Portuguese only came for business purposes, nothing else in account did they do, the Portuguese didn't put any government in place nor did they send anyone to rule Eko, so how in your own book did they become the founder? The development Bini people brought to Eko was the establishment of a palace, a ruler and also a central control of Eko state/city/town. take it or leave it but it's as simple as that. |
There is no permanent champion anywhere in the world. |
A loss to Kano Pillars, a gain to the academy, it will make them work harder. how do you intend knowing local transfers? |
is this the real googles? if yes, then YESS |
And she refuses to admit |
If she moves out of the forest |
OAM4J:Who founded Nigeria? the British did, because before they came, every tribes, groups were on their own, but when the British came, they established a governing body that brought all these groups together by putting up a structure (central government) (forced together lol) , this can be likened to the issue here, the binis came to Lagos where there were different groups with no structure, they ended up setting up a central structure (politically) and that was what brought about the EKO we all are talking about now. Did the British speak any of our languages? nope, though they left theirs with us, likewise the Binis, they didn't speak Yoruba when they came, but they didn't find it fit to teach the people in EKO their language. It's everywhere, all the places the binis went to, they never found it important teaching the people their language (Big shortcomings). if they had done that, most of the south south and other west African countries would have been speaking bini language by now and you'd be surprised at the extent of the impact the Bini kingdom made. The Bini empire is not just an empire, it was a VERY strong empire that went about conquering and were feared by their neighbors. |
In every establishment, there must be a head, when there are 2 heads, you end up having issues. I once lived in a house where the landlord and the landlady always made different laws, the husband would say "don't wash under the staircase, wash close to the drainage, the wife ends up yelling at you, telling you never to wash near the drainage, rather wash under the staircase, in the end, i got confused and didn't know who to listen to. Just picture what or how the house they both live in is going to look like, just imagine. ![]() |

BTW: My definition is from one of the most respectable dictionaries in the world, Encyclopedia (Encarta) dictionary. Here is another definition: –verb (used with object) 1. to set up or establish on a firm basis or for enduring existence: to found a new publishing company. 2. to lay the lowest part of (a structure) on a firm base or ground: a house founded on solid rock. 3. to base or ground (usually fol. by on or upon): a story founded on fact. 4. to provide a basis or ground for. Origin: 1250–1300; ME founden < OF fonder < L fundāre, deriv. of fundus bottom, foundation —Synonyms 1. organize, inaugurate, institute, originate. |
OAM4J:How help ourselves here, if i decide to put a block on the ground without digging, measuring and then using cement and gravite to erect the blocks, and someone else comes to do the latter, who are you going to say built the house? me that place blocks on the ground without proper foundation or the other person that used gravite and cement? Now, with your definition, can you say the Aworis had any concrete structure on ground that shows that they actually wanted to build a city/town? Apart from the tents and all that they built around the seashore where they fished, what else did they do? |
You should be in hell frying charcoal alongside your boss ![]() |
This is what i got from a dictionary, the meaning of the word "found" found [fownd] (past and past participle found·ed, present participle found·ing, 3rd person present singular founds) transitive verb 1. set up institution: to establish and organize something for the future such as an institution or business 2. provide with basis: to support something such as a conclusion with evidence or reasoning [13th century. Via French fonder < Latin fundare < fundus "bottom, base"] Microsoft® Encarta® 2008. © 1993-2007 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. So which of the 2 did this? the Aworis or the Binis? |
