adzovia: i know in Ghana the embassy prefers the new one. is more authentic since it has your fingerprint and it makes it easier for them to check it. i will always advice the biometric one.

Thanks taatus and adzovia. My passport will expire in 2014 but i hav decided to do the biometric one just to be on the safer side. Im not willing to risk anything. God's favour be with me

To the ghanaians in the house, pls has anyone recvd visa with the old passport. Sm1 just told me i have to do the new one even though my old hasnt expired. Pls i need an urgent response. Thanks

sami_1983: I have revived my Interview appointment letter through my e-mail but am still not receive through my p.o.box it's means the one I printed is enough to present my interview day.

From what i know they dont send interview letters to post office boxes. You are good to go with the printed one from the dv lottery site

emybaby2: Hurray, i've been given my visa today, am so happy. I woke up early and arrived the place and we were checked in by 6:30am. Passed through the security check and got in. We did the documentation i.e gave my original and photocopied documents. I forgot to include 2 photocopied marriage certificate rather it was one and they wrote it down in my form that one certificate is out. That was the only error i made though i was nervous. Then we waited again. When it was time for the interview, window 16 who is a white lady was so tough with so much drilling of people with questions. The first couple for DV there were rejected by her. Up to 5 people went and she either refer them for the next day or told them that they have failed. A particular woman with a family of 5 children and her husband were denied their DV visa. What i come to know is that if you can't answer or defend your education and also know dates of birth, time you went to school etc, then there will be problems. The woman in window 13 was so nice and was handing down visas like water only denied one man. Who wasn't a DV applicant.
After praying that i should not pass through the white woman, believing God for window 13 when i was called to window 16(the white woman.)

me: yes i did
co: i will give you a visa and you will get it next week thursday.
Me: thank you.
That is how i scaled through the woman, looking her straight in the face and God helped me. Pls i like the black woman of window 13, she gave time to people who are nervous to think.

Excuse me? if i say nairaland is not above errors what is wrong with that? For your information my dad is Nigerian, i grew up in Nigeria and i have never bn tribalistic. Im so shocked at your post. Whats all dis nairaland or cedi land issue. Im a very open minded person and i repeat nairaland is not above errors neither is any individual here thats why on most of my posts i state that its just my opinion. joor o. ma ko igbo si mi lapo. i have stayed in different countries and tribalism is not part of me. adzovia: most of us are asking this woman to file for the boy after she has acquired her green card. meaning there is no mention of the boy in all the forms she will fill including the dsp, the embassy and the us immigration has no record that says this woman has a child. let me say this, there is a place in the form that asks us to fill the name of depended that will go with us or come later. if she does not mention the boy how can she file for him later? the boy will be denied her green card might be revoked for lying to acquire it. this boy is 9 years clearly born before the visa processing i believe we need to look at this critically before we mislead each other

i pray God grants her favour. personally i think its best she added his name but im no expert tho. im with adzovia on this one.

This is a very complicated issue,a friend of mine was denied last year for doing that,he explained his brother filled the initial entrant form on his behalf,the CO saw the loop hole and that was the end.

you are right. its indeed complicated. it may be in her best interest to seek advise from sm1 who is experienced in matters relating to this.

House, I will like to commend Getinger for that brilliant post of yesterday on the single mother! It's better to say things as it were than to write with feelings and emotions. Once again, for the single mother - It's bettter you go to the interview alone and get that visa for you alone! When you get to the US,you may now file for your son to join you after some years. Is that not better than to gamble and go with your son for the interview? It may actually lead to automatic disqualification. Remember, the visas are limited! If you gamble,however, it's at your own peril because you may be unlucky not to meet the "sweet black angel at window 13".... lol. On a serious note, please fill out your forms and return them without including your 9 year old son, because you never included him originally. Some of these white consuluar officers dey Kolo for head. Dem fit shout say, hey this is fraud!! Once again, the visa's are limited!!

i think it would be best to add the boy to the forms. it is stated that you MUST include all your children. If she applies alone and gets to the US, and decides to file for him after some years, how will she explain? i hope we are aware that records are kept and can be referred to anytime even if its in 20yrs. Hiding the kid's existence will only complicate issues for her in future. she can say somebody applied for her. if she lies now she will have to continue lying to cover up the lies. #mypointofview
