800-metre walk not about proving my fitness, President Buhari explains when addressing Representatives of 5 Local Governments in Daura Emirate... President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, in Daura broached the issue of his opting to trek some distance after observing Eid prayers at Kofar Arewa Eid Ground and the humbling hero’s welcome from the well-wishers that lined the street. In a meeting with representatives of the 5 local governments in Daura Emirate, the President Buhari explained that the walk was not about proving his fitness level or scoring cheap political capital. ‘‘This is my constituency, the people came out in their large numbers to see me and the car in which I was being driven had tinted windows. ‘‘They were not seeing me so I came down so they could see me. I didn’t need to convince anyone about my health and the decision to contest for a second term- a decision that I made public in April this year,’’ he said. The President used the opportunity of his meeting with his kinsmen to inform them that he has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and the CBN to review the processes on the issuance of loans to smallholder farmers. "We want to make it easier for them to assess the loans, particularly the underprivileged people in the society. It has become necessary for the government to do this because banks will insist on collaterals which majority of farmers do not have. ‘‘For our agriculture policy to succeed, we must be able to reach small farm holders with loans without collaterals. Collaterals are always a problem with smallholder farmers,’’ he said. The President also highlighted the achievements of the administration on local rice productions which had expectedly led to the reduction of imports by over 90 percent. The President expressed delight that young people are returning to the farms and reaffirmed the Federal government’s commitment to implement policies to promote agriculture. Speaking on behalf of the civil society groups in Daura Emirate, the spokesman of the group, Yusuf Bello Maiadua, applauded the President on his numerous achievements. "You have made us proud, the economy is back on the path of growth and you have laid a solid foundation for the development of the country. Maiadua who hinted the President of plans by the Daura Emirate to organise a massive rally for his 2019 campaign, as soon as the ban on political campaign is lifted, invited him to make out time to attend... https://mobile.twitter.com/GarShehu/status/1033082758099283968?p=v

Press Release Osun Governor’s Office Catches Fire, No Document, Equipment Destroyed The Office of the Governor of the State of Osun caught fire on Monday evening. The fire incident was as a result of power surge which occurred in one of the Air Conditioners inside the office of the Governor. It is heartening to note that not a single document, or equipment was destroyed and nobody was hurt. We reiterate that every document in the governor's office is intact. It is not a serious fire outbreak. The fire mainly affected the office of the Governor alone; no other office is affected. It is regrettable that the electricity suppliers have been persistently unable to regulate the supply of power to meet the necessary standard. Many Nigerians have lost their properties to power surges and other electrical malfunctioning. We urge the electricity supplier to save this situation by conforming with the rules and regulations of electricity supply. MY ADVICE TO OSUN APC MEMBERS AT THIS POINT by Gbenga Ilesanmi Ashaolu (Next Rated) Aftermath of Osun APC primary election, I will enjoy all members of the party as well as followers of various aspirants to please let us regarded what is past as past and work together in unity to win all this important September governorship election. Let me use myself as an example vis-à-vis the just concluded Ekiti election. I am from Osun, registered as a voter in Osun but presently living in Ekiti as a student with considerable influence and persuasive power. When the contest for Ekiti election was declared opened, I joined Engr. Segun Oni team because of my belief in his leadership qualities. Based on feedback we got from our campaign round the state and the kind of reception we were accorded, we entered APC primary will victory assurance. However, when anomalies were observed at the first primary which led to its disruption and cancellation, I took active part in expressing our displeasure with the process which was skewed to favour certain aspirant. In fact, I appeared LIVE on TVC as one of the protesters during that aborted primary. However, when the second primary was held and Dr. Kayode Fayemi emerged as winner, I did not only joined Dr. Fayemi campaign team, I also ensured I work and mobilised more than 30 voters (Ekiti students) from my faculty to vote for him on election day. To me, party is primary while aspirant is secondary. Today, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi is the winner and all APC leaders and members in Ekiti are winners. Please, let's this same step in State of Osun by forgetting the pre-primary rancour and work together to ensure that Chief of Staff to Ogbeni Aregbesola (Gboyega Oyetola p. k.a Ileri Oluwa, APC and all of us will be winners for another 8 years.
