the most wackiest recruitment after immigration is this FAAN. they shortlisted randomly without even considering the qualification, the exam was also a scam i.e some applicants are still yet to write their exams cos of their low bandwidth website. what baffles me most is the omission of some states like jigawa from the list. this recruitment method is another good reason to vote out GEJ.

It is an improvement from the past, it can get better. This is my own view and how to improve.
  I will not agree with INEC's 90% success or efficiency of the Card reader. I will score the use of card reader 50%.

 Check this simple calculation below.

Total registered voters = 68,000,000
Total number of polling units = 120,000
 Total number of card readers per unit = 120,000
INEC allocates 5 hours = 300 minutes

Total number of voters/ polling units
 68,000,000/120,000 = 567 people per polling units

 567/ 300 mins = 1.88 persons per minute
 Approx. 2 persons per minute.
  = 30 seconds per person.

For Card reader to be effective, 30 seconds need to accreditate each of 68,000,000 registered voters.
       But during the test last week an average of 60 seconds per voter was achieved against 30 seconds it's suppose to be.
   
To improve and get the seconds lower per person, I suggest that methylated spirit should be used with cotton wool to clean the index finger before placing on the card reader.
2. Accreditation time should be increased to 7 hours = 420 minutes.
  3. Deploy two card readers per polling unit
4. Discard use of incidence form.

Even with the adjusted figures you presented, its still possible to accreditate each of the 68million eligible voters under 5 hours!!!


5 hrs = 18000 seconds
Total Registered Voters = 68,000,000

Avg Time to verify an eligible voter = 30s

567 x 30s = 17010 seconds needed to verify all 68m eligible voters on election day!!!

On the bold, we have 120,000 polling units representing 120,000 card readers deployed.
17010 seconds needed for 68000000 people will take 4.7 hours approx 5 hours as allotted by INEC.
Which is still 30 secs per person. Is 30secs enough ?

Let me correct certain wrong facts u made in ur post above;
- Firstly, its 6 hours for accreditation.
-A ward having 20,000 eligible voters doesn't translate to that ward having JUST ONE Polling Unit!; A ward like that has more than 40 polling units.

Let's work on that your calculation again based on this new information;

6 hrs = 360 minutes
360 minutes = 21600 seconds

While INEC was demonstrating the Card Reader @ d National Assembly some weeks back, it took about 10-15 seconds to verify a voter.
N/B: One of the unwritten laws of INEC on Election day states that if a Polling Unit has more than 500 eligible voters, a Voting Point will be created somewhere within the same unit, where another set of accreditation and voting will take place!

Therefore; Taking the maximum limit of voters a Polling unit can have (in this case, 500) and multiplying with the average time taken for verification a voter(in this case 20 seconds) you will have 10000 seconds

Wow! That is 10000 seconds to verify all 500 voters! Then dividing this 10000seconds by 60 gives you 167 minutes; diving further by 60 gives you approximately 3 hours to verify all 500 voters in that polling unit!

But this is just an ideal situation, INEC knowing this decided to add 3 more hours to cover for any misunderstanding or glitches that may come up that day

hanks for being objective in your views. On further checks I came up with this new figures.

Can 10 hours help instade of 5 hours

Kayode Fayemi said on channels tv this evening that one ward in Ekiti the card reader test was done has 20000 voters and the card readers takes 5- 10 seconds to accreditate one person, and I did this little mathematics.
INEC allocates 5 hours = 300 minutes for accreditation during elections. 8am - 1Pm
20000/300 = 67 people per minute which means that Less than 1 seconds needed to accreditate each of the 20000 voters in that ward.
Can we really achieve this without disenfranchising some voters which could lead to protest on that election day?
