DonUjay: 1. Nigerians are very Passionate about Football:
Are we really that Passionate about football? If your answer is yes then why do we find it so hard to get supposed passionate fans into stadiums whenever the Super Eagles or any of our National teams Play? Why are our so-called Passionate fans not willing to buy tickets (Part with money) to watch their National teams Play? You'ld only find sizeable crowds at the stadium when the gates are thrown open.
Even more disturbing is the fact that these fans go to stadiums to support the national teams without wearing the National team colours, thus, resulting in a sea of Rainbow colours at the stands which make for distasteful viewing for Television audiences and also make the away team feel less intimidated.
2. Our Super Eagles are no more Super
We keep referring to auld Lang syne when our national team was a force to reckon with in world football. This begs the question: were our Super eagles ever Super? The only successes we've achieved in football were at the age grade level and continental level (for both male and female teams). Let's be factual, even the so-called USA '94 squad which is touted to be our best ever team was not much of a success on the global stage. We Lost to the two Big teams we came up against at the 1994 World Cup (Argentina and Italy); Senegal secured a World cup berth for the first time at Korea/Japan World cup (2000) and ended up beating 2 Big teams (Former world cup winners) in France and Uruguay but eventually crashed out at the Quarter finals (Emphasis on Quarter finals).
3. Talented Footballers abound in Nigeria:
Maybe in the past this would have been correct but as it stands right now I don't even think the talents abound anymore. I think we saw the Last of our truly talented footballers when Austin 'Jay-Jay' Okocha and Nwankwo 'Papilo' Kanu retired.
If you have a divergent view on this matter then I think you should ask yourself the following questions: How many of our Super Eagles Players can break into the first team of any of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, P.S.G or Mancity
How many of our Nigerian Players Play first team football in a Bug club in any of the top five Leagues in Europe?
When Last did a Nigerian Footballerr win the African Footballer of the year award?
4. We Have The Best Supporters Club in the World:
Have you noticed how dull football Matches may seem when the Nigerian Supporters club are in the stands Beating their drums and blowing those trumpets in a bid to Lend the needed support to the National team, Now compare this to what you get in football matches involving European teams, South/North American teams and even Asian teams...Like seven-up the difference Is clear right? Can't forget the South-Korean fans at the Korea/Japan World cup (2000), those fans brought a whole new dimension to football supportership
5. Feel free to add yours... For your Info Mr man. KELECHI IHEANACHO is playing in Manchester City's first team John Obi Mikel playing in Chelsea first team Moses playing in West Ham's first team Iwobi playing in Arsenal's first team. Just keep out of football since you don't find it fun. I can die for the love of football. |

Crime › Re: NDLEA Intercepts Letter With Heroin In Lagos (Photo) by HRich(m): 6:08pm On Mar 28, 2016 |
olokfor: https://thenewsnigeria.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/yunusa-amusan.jpg
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday said it had intercepted a letter laden with heroin in Lagos.
Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, the agency’s spokesman, said the letter was sent from Bangalore, India, via Express Mail Service (EMS). It was addressed to one Mr Yunusa Amusan, 33, in Mushin, Lagos.
“Upon interception by the NDLEA, about 480 grammes of powdery substance that tested positive for heroin, was found inside the letter.
“The thin parcels of heroin were carefully hidden in the letter in a manner that makes it difficult to detect.
“This is the first case of heroin letter discovered by the anti-narcotic agency this year,’’ he said.
Chairman of the agency, Mr Muhammad Abdallah, said that the arrest was recorded following the diversification of the agency’s operations.
The NDLEA boss added that investigations revealed that the suspect, already in custody, allegedly connived with his uncle, who lives in India, to import heroin disguised as letters to Nigeria.
“The operations of the agency have been diversified to cover mail services. Drug control is an intelligence-led operation and the NDLEA, under my dispensation, will spread its tentacles to all possible areas of narcotic smuggling.
“We will not relent in taking deliberate and sustained efforts towards preventing drug trafficking under any guise in the country, be it by air, land or water,’’ Abdallah stated.
“Their criminal plan did not materialise due to the superior intelligence gathering capacity of the agency.
Mr Mabo Olugbenga, NDLEA Director of Operations and General Investigation, explaining that the suspect was apprehended following surveillance report on his illicit drug activities.
“The illicit smuggling of narcotic drugs under the guise of letters was reported and closely monitored by the agency.
“It was confirmed that Amusan was recruited by his uncle who lives in India, to take delivery of heroin concealed in letters, to avoid arrest by law enforcement agents.
“The suspect was arrested after collecting the letter and further investigation is ongoing,’’ he added.

That is why their coach wants to attack and attack to put more pressure on us. One good thing about this match is that they will come out from their shell and we will hit them on fast break. Nacho will cause a lot of trouble to them and they're likely to commit lots of fouls.
After defeating the Egyptians, we'll leave Alexandria immediately to avoid further fights. NFF should be alert too for any crowd troubles. Nigeria won't beat Egypt. Thank you |

Crime › Re: Nigerian Arrested In India With Cocaine Worth Of $720k by HRich(m): 3:30pm On Mar 28, 2016 |
247frolicboss: https://thenewsnigeria.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/441791-nigerian.jpg India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in a joint operation with the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai police, has arrested a Nigerian, who belongs to an international drug racket, using postal services to smuggle drugs and contrabands.
The arrested Nigerian, Frank William was found with 600gm of cocaine imported from Latin America.
The cocaine, worth between Rs 4 crore and Rs 4.8 crore( $640,000-$719,500), was concealed in the axle of a vehicle that was sent via post from Latin America.
Sources said that the NCB received a tip-off that a parcel containing drugs was to arrive in India. The NCB tied up with the postal services and ANC and trailed the consignment for nearly a week as it passed through two to three countries. When the parcel reached a post office at Khoparkhairane in Navi Mumbai, the officers laid a trap and arrested the Nigerian, when he came to collect it.
“We could have stopped the parcel at the Foreign Post Office as all post parcels are routed through it. We played along so we could reach the recipient,” said an official, adding that the demand for cocaine is increasing in the city.
The officer said international drug peddlers send parcels through postal services or courier companies and provide the wrong KYC and address of the recipient.
“They then track the parcel online. When it reaches its destination city, it lies at the post office as the address is wrong. The recipient then picks it up from the post office,” said Sanjay Jha, zonal director of NCB.
Sources said that the NCB had recently written to the postal authorities and even private courier services asking them to insist on verifying the KYC of the parcel sender and receiver.
“We have apprised the postal department to instal CCTV cameras and collect carbon copies of the ID proofs and KYC of the sender and receiver,” said an officer.
The customs department said that it is not possible to scan all parcels sent to India through courier services. “The sheer volume makes it difficult. So, we carry out random checks,” said an official.
