On players contracts

“Expiring player contracts usually end when the season ends, with a termination date that coincides with the end of the season. With the current suspension of play in most countries, it is now obvious that the current season will not end when people thought it would.

“Therefore, it is proposed that contracts be extended until such time that the season does actually end. This should be in line with the original intention of the parties when the contract was signed and should also preserve sporting integrity and stability.

Sports / Footballers Can Live For Six Months Without Getting Paid Says, Carlos Tevez by Hugo7(m): 10:14am On Apr 03, 2020
Former Manchester United and Manchester City striker, Carlos Tevez believes professional footballers at the highest level should voluntarily agree to a pay cut amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

Just like other football players across the world, the Argentine is on a break after the domestic season was suspended owing to the pandemic.

Barcelona’s squad has all agreed to a 70 percent wage cut to ensure the Spanish club continues to operate during the lockdown, same as Juventus players who also agreed to a pay cut.

Football players such as Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandoski, Kylian Mbappe and many others have supported charities and set up goal funds to support the fight against the spread of the COVID-19.

Same can’t be said of Premier League clubs as Newcastle United, Tottenham, Norwich City, and Bournemouth have put non-playing staff on furlough to take advantage of a scheme recently introduced by the British government, while discussions between the top flight, the English Football League (EFL), League Managers Association (LMA) and Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) are continuing over whether players in England should take a wage cut.

Sports / Cesc Febregas Why I Left Arsenal by Hugo7(m): 2:28pm On Mar 25, 2020
Especially in the last two or three years, I felt Robin and Samir were the only players – it’s not an arrogant thing to say, it’s how I felt at that time – were the players who were at my level mentally and technically.

The Spaniard said he left the Gunners for a number of reasons from not be able to cope with the pressure as captain, the team's inability to sign players and poor relationship with his team-mates.

Cesc Fabregas joined the Gunners at a very young age from Barcelona where he later moved on to London club Chelsea, the world cup winner currently plays in league 1 for Monaco.

In an interview with Arseblog, the 32-year-old spoke openly about his decision to leave Arsenal in 2011.

“I was the captain, I always felt so much pressure on myself,” Fabregas said. “I had to lead this team to win something. I gave everything. Sometimes, I used to go home after we lost and I used to cry.

I used to suffer, I used to spend sleepless nights suffering. And then you lose a game, you’re on the bus like this, destroyed, and then you hear some players laughing, thinking about where they will be going out later.

“This was going on for a few years. We were playing beautiful football and I enjoyed that side of things but I was putting pressure on myself to lead, to do everything and at one point I felt kind of lonely.

“Especially in the last two or three years, I felt Robin and Samir were the only players – it’s not an arrogant thing to say, it’s how I felt at that time – were the players who were at my level mentally and technically.

Many things came in my head, I have to admit I was a bit empty, I was drained mentally, physically, in my soul knowing I’m giving everything, knowing a few signings the club could have made but didn’t happen.

“Seeing some behaviors from certain players or something like this made me feel I wanted to check something else. If it was not because of that, I would not have left Arsenal at that time.”

The former Barcelona Midfielder made 303 appearances for the Arsene Wenger Managed team after nine years.

Ronaldinho spent his time on the pitch dodging defenders and his post-football career evading the law.

But the Brazilian superstar will spend his 40th birthday in a Paraguayan prison today with the biggest challenge of his life threatening to shackle him to a six-month jail sentence.

The former PSG, Barcelona and Milan playmaker won the 2005 Ballon D'Or, the 2002 World Cup – after beating David Seaman with a famous free-kick – and the 2006 Champions League final against Arsenal.

He is arguably among the three best Brazilian players to follow Pele along with Ronaldo and Neymar. But Ronaldinho was the undisputed best at Samba-style partying.

His lawyer Adolfo Marín claimed: “He could have entered Paraguay with his Brazilian papers. He thought he had received special Paraguayan documents. He didn't know he was committing a crime, because he didn't understand he'd been given false documents. He's stupid.”
