daveP: Starting Etebo, Iwobi, Musa and Iheanacho would do well to me. I don't wanna see Ighalo till 70th minute.
Musa on left, with Etebo at his back, Nacho and Iwobi will be rotating the CF.
If only Rohr Trusts Simy as well.
Croatia would wana win that match cos if we win and they lose, it means we are facing Australia instead of France. you even wanna see Ighalo...me don't wanna see him at all...let rohr give other players the opportunity to impress..... especially simmy...he is a high profile striker in Italy let's see what he has to offer |

Just leave all these people and their dead analysis. If it is not that some people like misfortune, how will they think there is any wisdom in starting Ighalo? thank you...I was expecting only iwobi to be introduced prior the end of that match.... if need be for the introduction of a striker...simmy should be introduced instead...I still believe lokosa would have even fare better in this tactics of rohr than ighalo...that dude against Congo was hungry.... |

komekn: Ighalo for me created the missing link that was missing all through the game. HOLD UP PLAY
We have a young and inexperienced goalkeeper who more often not than kicks the ball out at any sign of trouble. Which inevitably comes back to us, it is a weakness. This is something he will continue to do and will do more against the Argentines when they high press us.
It is therefore ESSENTIAL that you have an outlet to win that long ball in the air and hold it up and give us attacking options. That's where IGHALO comes in, he is the best at this in our team.
I do not think it's in dispute KC has zero hold up play and can not win the ball against physically imposing CB'S. In addition very limited aerial threat.
Ighalo has physicality, presence aerial ability and creates an ever present threat to CB'S this causes them to be unsettled creating attack options for both Ighalo and any other players coming FORWARD.
Yes his goal tally may not be great but he brings something that nobody else does. Against Argentina I doubt if we will out pass them, but we can hit them on the brake, I also expect Etebo to checkmate Messi.
However thier entire defence line up lacks PACE something that Musa, Ebuehi, Moses, Etebo can capitalise upon. to hell with your hold.up play.... when has your hold.up play win games for the super eagles? same.musa your almighty epl clubs rated lowly scored a world class goal still expecting from your overhyped 3 lions players..... I guess it is down on you now...that majorly Africa players are underrated...no continents have the monopoly of talents...only a blind men see differently. please there is no usefulness of Ighalo in these rohr dynamic tactics...we used on Iceland...he can wait when we start play Africa teams...where he can intimidate and try bully them but not at this world cup. |

TheSuperNerd: It is clear to all around the social media world that Iheanacho is a better goal threat than Ighalo would ever be. Forget even about what John Fashanu said. I don't need him to state the obvious.
Iheanacho don't need to hold much because he has way better movements upfront than Ighalo. Nacho has this beautiful sense of running into space and opening up nicely in behind defenders. It would be easy for an Iwobi and Mikel to pick him out for a shot on goal compared to an Ighalo. I like Ighalo but for the good of this team, my good God... Ighalo is poor in front of goal. you have been makinh sense since ages... but today you made wisdom.... nancho well finishes is way ahead amongst our current strikers in Russia....he should get to start |

Uzoho, Balogun, Ekong, Ebuehi, Idowu, Ndidi, Etebo, Mikel, Musa, Ihenacho, Moses. this kind of line up with iwobi introduction during the second half will.hardly loose against Iceland....not even a draw... a win is a huge possibility |

forgiveness: Rohr : Mikel & Moses Are The Star Players In Super Eagles, Others Stars Of The Future
Published: June 21, 2018
Rohr : Mikel & Moses Are The Star Players In Super Eagles, Others Stars Of The Future Manager Gernot Rohr has explained why there are only a few star players in the Nigeria squad despite the fact that the population of the country is 500 times the population of Iceland.
The German has named former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel and the current Nigerian Player of the Year Victor Moses as the two players that can be classed as stars in the Super Eagles team, and has predicted that the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Tyronne Ebuehi will be stars of the future.
''Why we don't have star players? It's because we are the youngest team of the World Cup,'' Rohr said at Thursday afternoon's pre-match conference before the start of training.
''We have Obi Mikel, who is a very good player, you can tell that he is a star, we have Victor Moses who is well known everywhere but we have so many young players, they will be stars, I hope so, tomorrow.
''What we have is a team for 2022, because when you are so young, with the goalkeeper and all the other people, they will be better and better. ''
Rohr has reiterated that the Super Eagles are the underdogs in Group D, pointing out that their three rivals Argentina, Croatia and Iceland are ranked higher than his team in the FIFA ranking.
''We are in the top 50 in the world, Iceland is in the top 20 (22), Croatia is in the top 12 (20) and Argentina in the top eight.
''When I see that the matches are so difficult and the scores are so close, we have to learn also, it is not finished after this World Cup for us.
''We want to improve, we want to learn. When you are the youngest, it is not possible, perhaps, to be the best already,'' he added.
Rohr, who penned a two-year contract extension earlier this year, refused to comment on his future with the Nigeria National Team in the event that they lose to Iceland on Friday.

Bolowolowo: It seems that from the lineup projections that this team is pretty doomed. I have not seen any compelling argument or explanation for any of the projected lineups. I am left to believe that Rohr still does not understand this team and is currently testing new combinations.
I just weep.... to be honest...if he should go with that line up tomoro it goes to show that rohr is a mediocre coach... I still believe many here are smarter than him....though the opportunity to make an impact may elude them... |

Icon4s: It is your same kind of person that will be quick to jump and say "why didn't Rohr play Mikel where he has been playing before"?
You think players selection for the world cup is like what you do on your PES?
I don't think anyone here in time past has defended Iwobi's abilities as a central AM in the team like I have done.
Some people here have tipped Iheanacho and Etebo as being ahead of Iwobi in that AM role but I argued in favor of Iwobi as second best behind Mikel for that role.
Was it not here we agreed that Mikel has the best killer pass instinct in this whole team?
Let everybody say what ever they want to say. I am not everybody.
Rohr can chose to play Mikel at CM and Iwobi at AM. Or still play Iwobi at the Left or Right AM positions so be it. That doesn't make him analog. He knows the team better than anyone of us here.
and the top class coach who knew mikel better than even rohr...just faulted rohr use of mikel as AM for the super eagles.... oga please dont be rigid...be flexible alittle... that it work for us to play mikel as an AM during the qualifers does not mean that it will work now in the world cup.... as the name implies this is the gathering of world best teams...so don't expect same easy ride we had against Africa oppositions. |

Mujtahida: I visit other football forums where the SE is the focus. Walahi the consensus is that Iwobi fits the AM role more than Mikel.
I was surprised to read baba Icon4s talk about the WCQ in the context of the discussion.
Something that is not working koro koro, with our clear eyes we dey see am. show me a smart man and I will show you a man who is flexible with his approach to issues.... you can't keep repeating things in Similiar fashion and expect a miracle.... even mouriho the coach who knew mikel better than even rohr faulted rohr tactics on playing mikel in the AM role..... this is the world stage...you can't expect the European teams to play like Africa teams who could not contain mikel makeshift role as an AM... |

Icon4s: As if it is not the same Mikel that played AM during the qualifiers.
Note again that Iwobi is not being played as a winger but as a Left or Right Attacking Midfielder.
So if Rohr chooses to start Mikel as the Central AM where would you rather Iwobi plays? oga icon...are we still in the qualifiers...? sometimes you make me fear and see you as a very conservative and analog kind of coach.... you have tried something and it is not working....common sense expect you to make changes.... you can't keep doing somethin same way and expect an improved results..... it seems you are still in the euphoria of the world cup qualifers..... where we played weaklings. now is the gathering of world best teams.. we have played mikel as AM for something now...but still.no results...so let's try iwobi there while mikel provide support from the CM role.... etebo or musa can be deployed to wings..... |
