I noticed that two monikers on this thread were expecting a goof soon from MetalJigsaw and crazily enough, he has just proved them right again. I think he should not be so quick to just quote anyone in discussions. He should think it through first... Just saying. Anyway, that is by the way. chrisooblog: This same yobo was there when angola beat us to qualify for the world cup in germany 2006
This same yobo was also there when we were embarrassed at 2010 world cup against the likes of south korea and greece
The same yobo was there and played a prominent role in the AFCONs we failed to win. It was only when keshi gave him seat belt on the bench that we were able to win the 2013 afcon
If my memory serves me right mr yobo's last meaningful contribution to the super eagles was scoring an own goal against us for france. So please leave us to manage our so called less quality defenders and something tells me the reason he mentioned yobo is because he was then plying his trade in England... |

TheSuperNerd: Hey guys plsss come on... Give Etebo a break aiit... We know his recent games in the GWG was nothing close to spectacular but don't forget how good he came against Algeria in Uyo. Please.
Etebo's problem is that he is a Jack of all trades and master of just 2 (CDM/box2box and LM). In other roles, we only get to see a below average Etebo who may make some of us ask what the f**k he is doing wearing our national team jersey.
Etebo is a special talent aiit... A lad with 8 lungs (Sir Terzurum5 think I said 10... Well maybe it is 10 afterall)... Onazi got 4 lungs... Ndidi got 7... Lol... Fact is Etebo is a true life power force and a super bull. Buuuuuuuutttttttt.....
But the thing is this.... WE GOT TO FIND THE BEST WAY TO PLAY ETEBO IN THE SUPER EAGLES... AND THAT I THINK WE HAVE FOUND ALREADY. Dude is more of an LM (Olympic games experience) and a CDM (his most effective role in the Super Eagles so far). His experiment in the AM role was a failure. He doesn't have the creativity for the role. He is limited there.
In the LM/LW role (which he also featured in for Feirense in Portugal), we have options in Iwobi and co... So that leaves him with the CDM role(s) as a CM as part of a double pivot or as a box-to-box MF.
So plsss guys and ladies, cut Etebo some slack and understand that his playing in LA liga is actually an added advantage for our team if he makes the plane to Russia. I use "IF" coz I maintain for now that only Mikel, Ndidi and Onazi are sure bets for Russia in the midfield dept. The other 2-3 slots are still up for grabs among the likes of John Ogu, Etebo, Mikel Agu, Joel Obi and who again?
We hope Rohr limits Etebo to the C/DM role and make the best of him there as his boundless Kryptonian energy and endurance levels will be well channelled into our midfield as a solid back-up option to the undisputed starters. The LM/LW role is occupied. No space for him there in a 4-2-3-1 or even in a 4-4-2.
So that's it. Etebo is in with a shout to Russia based on his strong performances in LA liga but let the friendlies do the most talking.
Like a lady here wisely put it... Your club performances may get you invites but it is your performances in the GWG that earns you a shirt in the team in the long run
SO FREE ETEBO... He is doing well and we hope he brings that to the Eagles when given the chance to play again in the friendlies to convince us further of his relevance to the team. Thank you. how I wish this etebo was a goal keeper...that would have made more sense and solve our goal keeping issues... |

Idowu, we will see him in the next friendlies but Rohr has all but given him a slot considering the home advantage thing, his involvement as the unofficial translators of the team. If he adds a good play then he has made his selection a foregone issue. and elderson? do you that getting aina to play @ the world cup....gonna help the nff project in the long run. the project is aimed at getting some of those Nigeria born footballers in the UK to pick Nigeria over their country of birth this is because Nigeria will offer them a much realistic avenue to put themselves in the limelight than England.... |

ChrisKels: I love Shehu as much as I love his peers but has he really given us what we want at the right back?
Shehu is a makeshift right back though people confuse this with being versatile. Shehu is good and I want to see him in Russia but there still exists rooms for improvement.
In our DM Shehu does not stand any chance and the fact that he plays as a DM for his club ain't helping matter also.
Now if u want to take Shehu because he is a utility player, there are two positions to study with keen interest ; the DM and the RB.
at the DM, Ndidi, Etebo, Ogu, Onazi even Agu are all ahead of him, hence he has to concentrate on the the RB.
Now at RB, I will personally select Ebuehi as the RWB when I deploy a 3man defence. He is better suited than the other contenders. He has been doing it consistently on the club level and he just showed us a tip of it the last tine the had his back against the wall.
Shehu will come good in a 4man defense (433) but will he do a better job than Aina? Both players are good passers, agile players and almost equal pace wise. I don't rate English bred players but ever since started following the progress of these two players I av come to realize that Aina is more cerebral. The primary assignment of a RB is to defend, then create an impact in the attack. Shehu's defending ability was slightly better than that of, if not on par with Aina's but the Aina I saw lately has improved immensely on that with the WC on sight. Now going forward, the less said, the better. Aina edges Shehu here because he crosses better and times his runs better. Though these things don't make Shehu terrible, I believe Aina is slightly better.
Now why did I say his WC dream depends on Echiejile? Though it's still kinda premature. If Idowu repeats what he showed against Argentina, then it will be so insane to leave him out. With Elderson and Idowu, the left back is occupied but I would rather Elderson got dropped to make Aina a backup to Idowu hence creating a space at the RB for Shehu.
Elyte89 please read this as the answer to ur qstn also let's us be truthful.... the only player that deserves to be dropped from the backline...is elderson. forget all this experience talk....dude got no useful experience may be in the area of management and colleague relationship...except that..he got nothing. |

tbaba1234: Ronald de boer on Ebuehi
"He played in a big stadium, against Ajax, that everyone was watching him and took care of the message. He knew that all the attention was focused on him and survived in a very complicated situation. It shows your character. It can be a good contract for Benfica, good value and an added value. "
"He's a very talented kid. He has speed, but he also has intelligence. He was good against Ajax, especially against Kluivert, who is a very technical player. I remember just a dribble from Justin. But as he is very fast, Ebuehi managed to recover and lock Justin. We did not see Kluivert during the whole game, so we can say that he did a great job, " rohr will do us a great disservice to exclude these lad from the world cup party...because right now it seems the Dutch football authorities have begin to have their eyes on him... any little opportunity to permanently cap him missed....it's like gifting him to the Dutch FA |

safarigirl: if he makes the team to Russia and by some stroke of luck, features for us and gives a good account of himself, Uzoho will not be in Division 3 or Deportivo come this summer.
The World Cup is all the stage anyone needs to make a career climb in football, which is why everyone wants a piece of it.
And the younger a player is, the higher his chances of getting a decent deal at a decent club.
We can talk all we want here, but Ezenwa, Uzoho and Akpeyi are about sure bets for World Cup....so, we make do with them. We can begin to correct any errors after the mundial, but at this point, wr work with what we have and hope for the best.
Even that Chijioke boy might only be recognised after the World Cup you're right....from your write up. a good display from the lad...will help him get a better club wit better opportunities for first team football.... my thought up there was exclusive of the world cup... |
