forgiveness: What was Ighalo's impact after two games in the WC qualifiers?
They all deserve to be given a chance if they remain inform prior to the WC. good you've shifted the goal post a little. mind you and your cling....Martins is not the most inform Nigeria player at the moment... I read where one myopic mind already start to rate him as the super eagles current best striker..... presently batholew ogbeche is more inform and he should be recalled to the super eagles before martins..... |

OMANBALA1: if Martins was better going by your drift why wasn't he invited even when we needed a top striker and Ighalo was not doing well or injured and Iheanacho was chopping bench. Answer that question and you will deduce why he is not better. The guy is a spent force. Quit trying to force him down our throat. may be because rohr is corrupt...as some have already alleged. or probably he does not know Martins to be a Nigerian. |

Fifa will even pay Martins for doing a good job. E pain am. He wan cry. and what was his impact in those two matches....if he had played well.... albeit rohr would have still kept him in his books... even Sylvester igboun played better.... any player would have played those two matches if they were invited...but it will take an exceptional player to live a mark... even onobi and salami played those matches.... |

edi287: Keshi decided to invite Uche for our last game in the qualifiers instead of earlier on. He didn't have a great game but do we judge him by just that game? Didn't Lukman Haruna score in one of our friendly games before the world cup in 2010?? He didn't flop in every match he played. Martins can have an impact in this team. Ighalo was posting few average performances before he got dropped and then Rohr reinvited him after deciding he needed a target man. Nacho has had bad games as well. I repeat, If Ighalo from the same "weak" Chinese league is our first choice CF, then martins can do a job from the bench. Simple as that. there is nothing simple anymore... we have gone beyond the stage of trial and error.... the bench should be for young and hungry players.....and not for one old leg. your points on nacho and many others posing an average performance is not true... even when the young nacho fired blanks you see his impact in those games...how he kept pressure on the opponent defenders. .. as such allow his colleagues to do damages... on unche....I believe you just trying to create excuses for him.... more than 45 minutes is enough for any player to prove himself... I remember osaze took just few minutes to prove keshi wrong against Iran...and against Bosnia he earned a starting berth...and even scored the lone goal.... so that lane excuses for martins and co holds no water...... |

Remember, in 2010 when the going got tough the had to the same Martins whom dey excluded from the team due to politics to rescue them and he did exactly that.

mazimee: How is that an issue? Brain Idowo came through from the defence and did Argentina bad thing. Even small Ebuehi would would have gone home with an assist from the defence too.
Like I said earier, With all his hype here, I don't expect him to be average, We have enough average already. If we are going to get another average, it shoudn't be an old Martins but rather a young lad thanks my brother.... I rather go wit an average young player like kayode than an old player.... the young player will go gather some experience and exposure that will some how prove useful in the future.... even at that there is possibility of the player going for another world cup in the future more better and stronger..... |

Kog45: Firstly am one of the people that said no to Martins inclusions in the team when Michael2 first raised it but my argument was based on the unity of the team not on Martins pedigree as a player.
Chinese league is for foreigners who have seen it all in well established league and they paid them just like expatriates coming to develop their league and that's why big money is involved, tell me how many European clubs would pay Ighalo such kind of wages.
Truly Martins play in Chinese league but his quality is not in doubt just like John Obi Mikel.Hope you have asked yourself how come Mikel damn good for Eagles now despite playing in Chinese league . but we never need his quality when we qualified for the world cup....when we played Argentina..... if he was not needed then and his quality was never needed to bail the team during those tough times....not now...do we need them. all the super eagles need now...is to blend... |

The England game was just a dead rubber for us. Nothing at stake.
We need a good and experienced goalie for the WC.

komekn: That to me is evasive rhetoric without any substance.
Using your rational we should go and pick somebody playing non league in Siberia because that person plays like Messi. If you are playing half of Messi you will not be in the backwater leagues of Europe.
Get this clear if this guy had and depth of quality he would not be playing in one of the worst teams in the Norwegian league.
He has had two seasons in that backwater league and Rosenburg or Mold the top teams in Norway did not see him but our scouting crew did.
That's a nursery rhyme to be given to toddler's. oga don't you think same apply to Martins....if he is really a player so much quality....why is he doing in China? |

You guys are not the coach and you won't allow him do his job! It was logic that qualified us for the world cup ba? Apart from a goal keeper and maybe one or two defenders, we are good to go! We are moving forward and not backward. Someone scores, call him! Another dude scores, call him... Why don't we just call the gods too? Ehn mr logic? Opposition might understudy Ighalo but might meet the shock of their lives when they see KC and Iwobi or VicMo and Moses Simon. If things goes to plan I think Nigeria would be one of the teams to beat at the WC. Depending on some games we won't play a natural 9 especially against Croatia. you blew my mind bro.... just pray we improve our defense and goal keeping department as well. |
