It's a tricky group, but not an insurmountable challenge.
And, oh, Iceland would be the whipping boys beating Croatia will put us on the right spot.... |

Mickael2: you may want to check Martins stats again.
You may also want to check the meaning of 'talking with two sides of your mouth' so you won't use it in a wrong situation next time.
Now get this fact slowly, when it comes to goals per game ratio Martins wasn't bad, after 40+ games he still had a goal every 3games. I cannot dig up his goals after 14games but I am sure he had atleast 4-6 goals by then. Martins is not some demigod, but saying that because he scores in the Chinese league that Iheanacho and Kayode will come there and become the highest goalscorer is a pure lie. Oscar is there, Hulk too and a lot of other guys but why arent they highest goalscorers? You think the league is like that? Let me ask you a question, so because no team from the Italian league has won the UCL(appeared in the club world cup that is) that means the Serie A is whack? I don't understand you will agree wit me.....the Italian clubs at one time....won UEFA champions league... and moreover in Europe there exist more competitors than in Asia... an english championship side will beat that Martins team silly..... and for nacho....i quite understand your innate reason why you rate Martins ahead I him..... it would have called for concern if someone like rohr toil same line... because everyone who is currently conversant wit the super eagles...play wit a fair and unbiased mind knows he is well ahead of Martins whenever the super eagles is mentioned... martins could not attain his feet for super eagles at his age.... |

komekn: KC. - 70 plus games 22 goals Obagoal - 460 games and near 180 goals.
Super Eagles
KC - 13 games 8 goals Obagoal - 41 games 18 goals
What overwhelmingly conclusive stats are you talking about the bolded...meaning nacho has an average of 1,62 games per goal...and martins 2.27 they're both not on the same class whenever the super eagles is mentioned.... |

edi287: As at this moment, Ighalo is first choice. He plays the lone striker role better than Nacho. Only way Nacho starts over him is in a 3-5-2. I like Dessers as well. I want Rohr to give him and Martins a chance. he should also give Paul and kayode a chance....and likewise Dennis and yinka.... then he could take 32 players to the world cup.....? if we are going to adopt also the formation we played against the Argentines. ...it means we will need few top 9.... you could see the likes of iwobi, nacho were already registered as CF.... so Martins may likely wait for Qatar 2022 |

Icon79: Safari, remember how everyone wrote off the Argies in 2014 and they almost won the entire thing!
I agree with you that they currently lack cohesion and their defenceline is aging. But you're forgetting that Sampoali is going to have about 2 months to tinker the team before the World Cup proper. Seriously, I think the Argies can spring a surprise.
Having said that, I must confess that I was a little biased ... I just want Messi to win the World Cup before he retires

Icon79: And by the way, I think Argentina will win the world cup. They remind me of of Brazil 2002 - they struggled with qualification, but have three amazing attacking players; same with this Argie team (Messi, Aguero, Di Maria). They were supposed to win it in 2014 but were unlucky coupled with the fact that they had a horrible coach in Tata plus Di Maria always getting injured in crucial games.
But now, everything seems to be coming together: Messi is still at his best, Sampoli is a decent coach so watch out for the Argies. Also I think Messi will trump Ronaldo's achievement with Portugal by winning the big one
O pari o I understand you're a berca fan..... tell me something else bro ....the Argentina team I saw the last time...will smell hell if they happen to meet teams like Belgium |

Mickael2: how are they proven in the GwG?
Iheanacho against Algeria twice, blank all through. Which other competitive game did he play and score? Yes Cameroon when the game was done, if that is what 'proving yourself' means then Bright Dike should still be playing for us you're talking wit two sides of your mouth... only a blind man will say nacho has not defended the colors of the SE in a good light.... a player that have scored over 7 goals in 14 matches...is a brainer... how many did Martins scored in his 14 match appearance for the super eagles... on the colors of the super eagles.....nacho is quite ahead of martins so far so good....even ideye and emenike... |

safarigirl: more importantly. Who are the 'potentials' we are taking?
Because last I checked, all our forwards currently are proven. to them playing in the Chinese league and in the past MLS, Italy and lots more.... makes a player proven....and young ones currently doing their things elsewhere...need to shuttle between these league at least to be proven.... |

Icon79: My broda, I weak for some folks here sha! If anything, Osaze should even a better option than Martins because he's younger and a much better player too.
All in all, Joel Obi the only player I would support his recall at this time. Enyeama has retired, we should let him enjoy his well deserved retirement. Martins, Uche, etc are not needed. The team we qualified with is good enough especially when you include the likes of: Idowu, Aina, Uzoho, and hopefully Joel Obi.
O pari to be honest...I remember when Sunday last invited him for the match against Swaziland...I sit glued to the TV hoping to see his magic wind....but nothing spectacular...even at that Sylvester igboun left a much better memory...... Mickael2: your objectivity is highly questionable. First you said he has only showcased his skills in the Chinese league, then I remind of his exploits in other top leagues now you have arrived here again. So I ask, is he still scoring in the chinese league? go back read my comments... who does not know martins playing days in Italy, Spain, England etc....? but my brother...those were yesteryear.... you can't compare Martins of those years and now..... likewise we cant say same for osaze.... if we are to put this players on scale presently....he is not better than Paul or kayode....forget those goals in Chinese league... in Asia as at present the Japanese still parade the strongest teams.... I have never watch Chinese clubs play in world club football..... I remember how Wolfsburg under 23 walloped mikel team prior the commencement of New season... that to tell you...the quality of their league...let alone their national team qualify for the world cup since 2002.... |

EEGA: Some are crying over Nacho's playing time, If Nacho were to be in Girona and puts-up the same performance that Kayode does and still be left on the bench, I wonder what this thread will look like.
It is more justifiable to cry over Kayode's playing time than Nacho's because the few times Kayode has played he never failed to impress. for any sane list....kayode and nacho should make the world cup roster..... both are bunch of potentials.....I have said it severally...nacho and musa lack of game time don't worry me...provided they're allowed to play in EPL 2.... under 23 team. so as to keep fit. everyone knows what they can offer when they play for the super eagles..... |

gamaliel9: safarigirl: Martins getting better for a club does not mean he will be better for us.
Stop equating club performances to National teams first of all. Only then can you understand football.
Aguero that scores on a daily for City, what does his performance for Argentina look like? How many goals does Mikel have in China? And in that period, how many did he get for Nigeria? Musa that has barely kicked a ball for Leicester, did he not get an assist in minutes?
The sooner you realise that club football and performances are not a reflection of national team, the sooner we can have a proper conversation.
Martins has never been prolific for Nigeria.
What does Obafemi brings to the team? Experience.....Also,he is a match winner... he can bring something out of nothing...He has saved us on many occasions, the last being 2010 WC qualifiers.. He deserves to be at least invited.. all these greenhorns Osimhen, Nwakali Chidi, etc should continue to gather experience at club levels and international friendlies till 2022 qualifiers then I see no reason why we should not canvass for yakubu and osaze as well...they have saved us in critical times...in time past. |

That guy for me, is the best among the 3 CB's that played that day.His poor performance against SA didn't even affect his play, he was comfortable and confident with the ball. thanks my brother... the sentiments of people on this thread eehhh...is alarming. sometimes they try promote tired legs on the premise of experience..... left to me.....Martins and even omeruo if he does not improve will not make the world cup roster..... |

Mickael2: how many goals has Kayode scored this season? Compare that to Martins kayode in China will score more calls...than martins has scored... compare the calibre of players in the Chinese league wit those in the la liga.... kayode is miles ahead...of Martins. even Paul has scored more goals...but still can't match kayode in skills and potentials.... |
