mostob:please tell me one free kick you've seen etebo score and I will tell you of Moses Simon... |
forgiveness:and this players listed up there can't give you 3 points....? you will make a terrible coach oooo |
mostob:not just a point...a very reasonable one. this guys better know that they stand to gain more should they win the trophy or at least get to the finals |
forgiveness:compare those players to the ones you saw the Senegalese and Mali team paraded...at the last under 20 world cup. before I forget...pls tell Etebo to stay clear of our free kicks whenever Moses Simon is in the field playing. Simon is a better free kick taker |
TheGuyNextDoor:forget it bro...whites don't love like we do... if they truly loves you...they sure do. just we Africans because of poverty and fear of poverty monetise even our love and feelings. don't be surprised that white lady truly loves him in and out.... for a guy that could give this response it shows that he has a rich and intelligent mind |
ROHR WANTS NO FURTHER DISTRACTIONS AS EAGLES FOCUS ON MADAGASCAR Super Eagles Head Coach Genort Rohr wants all the distractions caused by the dispute over allowances to be settled finally before Nigeria roll out tank against Madagascar in the last Group B clash on Sunday. Speaking yesterday in Alexandria, the Franco-German gaffer said in as much as Nigeria has began the group phase very well, nothing should be allowed to put a wedge on Eagles good fortunes. “I hope that the things that were decided yesterday (Wednesday) will be done so that everybody can focus on the next game (against Madagascar),” he stated. Rohr insisted that the decision taking on Wednesday by Eagles before the game against Guinea, should help to stem any further bickery over bonuses and allowances. Leganes of Spain defender Kenneth Omeruo’s header in the 73rd minute off the corner kick by Moses Simon was all that Nigeria needed to pick maximum points from Guinea’s Syli National and the ticket to the Round of 16. thisday.com |
NIGERIA TO PLAY ANY OF GROUP A, C OR D THIRD PLACEDTEAMS Lagos – The Super Eagles will play their Round of 16 match against any of the third placed teams in Group A, C or D, if they top Group B of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria currently top the group with six points having won the two games played. They defeated Burundi 1-0 on Saturday and also beat Guinea by the same margin on Wednesday. Madagascar, Nigeria’s last group opponent on Sunday are second on four points. They drew 2-2 with Guinea last Saturday and beat Burundi 1-0 on Thursday. Guinea are third with a point, having lost a game and drew the other. Burundi with a mathematical chance of reaching the Round of 16 provided they beat Guinea on Sunday are pointless having lost the two games played. According to the tournament fixture, the team that wins Group B, will play one of the third best placed teams in either Group A, C or D. After two matches, Uganda or Zimbabwe or DR Congo may place third in Group A, while in Group C, either Kenya or Tanzania may place third and likely Group D third placed teams remains sketchy since they’ve each played a game. The group D teams will play their second games today. Commenting on this, Taiwo Oloyede, ex-international says, “The Super Eagles should be prepared to face any team if they hope to lift their fourth AFCON title this time around in Egypt. “The players are there and the technical crew should be able to get their acts together and use the best selection for the team’s matches.” independent.ng.com |
ETEBO: MIKEL ALWAYS MOTIVATES US ON AND OFF THE PITCH Of the line-up that started Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Burundi last Saturday, coach Gernot Rohr dropped five players in Wednesday’s second Group B match against Guinea, including his influential skipper John Obi Mikel. The Chelsea legend who is participating in his fifth AFCON was dropped in favor of Alex Iwobi in the play-making position. Stoke City star Oghenekaro Etebo has revealed that Mikel always motivates the players whether or not he’s on the pitch. ‘’I must tell you he is a good leader, quality leader for that matter even when he is not on the pitch, he always encourages everyone,’’ Etebo said in the mixed zone. ‘’The most important thing is that every team that wants to succeed sticks together because that’s what the manager use to say, whoever is playing or not.’’ The Super Eagles have been brilliant in defence so far at the AFCON, posting two shut-outs in back-to-back matches, but have struggled to break down the opposition having scored only two goals. ‘’The most important is that we get the three points, you saw the game between Ghana and Benin, they had a a 2-2 draw. Even if you score one goal and you have three points, it is very important and it’s vital. ‘’That doesn’t count if you score three, four or five goals, the most important is to get a win and three points,’’ added Etebo. On the Super Eagles advancing to the last 16 with a game to spare, the Nigeria number 8 said : ‘’I am excited about it, not only just me but the nation is excited about it.’’ vanguardngr.com |
AFCON 2019: WE STILL HAVE NIGERIA TO THINK ABOUT - MADAGASCAR COACH. The Barea won their first ever game in Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) history and also kept their first clean sheet in the competition Madagascar coach Nicolas Dupuis is overjoyed after his team recorded their maiden Afcon win on Thursday. The island nation defeated Burundi 1-0, courtesy of a fantastic 76th-minute free-kick from Marco Ilaimaharita in their second Group B game. The victory at the Alexandria Stadium comes a day after Madagascar celebrated their 59th Independence Day. After seeing off the ‘tough’ challenge from Burundi, Dupuis said he is pleased with the team's hard-fought victory as they edge closer to securing a spot in the last-16 round. “I am so happy because of this victory. It was our first in the history of the Afcon and we worked hard for it," Dupuis said after the game. "It was not an easy match because Burundi gave us a tough time especially in the second half. “But we can be proud of our efforts, we can be proud of what we achieved but the work is not yet over. We still have Nigeria to think about.” Madagascar are second in Group B with four points after two matches, two points behind leaders Nigeria. They face the Super Eagles for their final group fixture in Alexandria on Saturday goal.com |
EGYPTIANS LAMBAST NIGERIA FOOTBALLERS OVERFREQUENT PROTESTS some Egyptian fans feel the frequent reports of protests by Nigerian players about non-payment of match allowances and bonuses are not doing the African continent any good. Within the last two months, Nigerian teams taking part in international competitions have protested over alleged non-payment of entitlements by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). From the Flying Eagles’ participation at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, the Super Falcons involvement at the yet to be concluded FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and the Super Eagles’ campaign in the Egypt 2019 AFCON, it has been one squabble over alleged unpaid allowances or another. At the Cairo Stadium on Wednesday night, where the Pharaohs of Egypt defeated Congo 2-0 to move into the round of 16, the issue of Super Eagles’ protests over unpaid wages was the major topic by some of the fans. Those who spoke with The Guardian carpeted the Nigerian players for turning their participation at major championships into ‘one competition, one protest.’ “This is becoming too frequent an issue in Nigerian football and I think it is not doing Africa’s image any good,” one of the fans, who identified himself as Ali told The Guardian at the Cairo stadium. “As a national team player, I think Nigerian players are not behaving well by bring issues of unpaid allowances and bonuses to public domain every time they are on major competitions. There are other countries taking part in the AFCON, and it is only Nigerian players who are crying loud over unpaid match allowances. We had such situations recently with the U-20 (Flying Eagles), who refused to vacate their hotel after crashing out in Poland. It was followed by the Super Falcons in France. Now, we are hearing that your players (Super Eagles) are complaining in their hotel in Alexandra. I believe it is not only Nigeria that has financial problem. Your footballers should think of how to help your nation grow because playing for the national teams help their career as well.” Ali continues: “Here in Egypt, Mo Salah is not getting much in terms of financial reward from the national team, yet he has built schools and hospitals for the people. He even helped the government in fixing the roads. That is what your players should be emulating, not issues of unpaid bonuses and allowances all the time.” Another fan, Emerek said: “I am sure your players are always protesting because they feel the officials are making so much money in the football house. In that case, I think the government should try to sanitise the system. But to be sincere, this issue of protest by your national team players during major competitions is becoming a major embarrassment to Africa.” Guardian.ng.com |
charlesemeka85:not England...they wanna keep them all... very greedy country. ... I still think if Tammy don't have a break through in Chelsea during this 2 years...he may fall back on the super eagles.... but I don't think we need him... the players we need right now are defenders and midfielders.... no thanks to Aigbogun and his gang who has made it impossible for us to have a good under 20 to draw from...unlike Mali and Senegal .... |
charlesemeka85: ![]() |
charlesemeka85:hmmmmm that was how we all hype Dele Bashiru including me in this thread and to our surprise he never lived the hype. wanna watch him play for the super eagles |
charlesemeka85:the lad could just steal the show against madagascar and that will be it... ighalo messed up with that ball.... had it been musa scored that goal; that would opened the guinea defense as they will troop out to attack and who knows ighalo would have scored his second in the tournament... |
charlesemeka85:the lad could just steal the show against madagascar and that will be it... ighalo messed up with that ball.... had it been musa scored that goal; that would opened the guinea defense as they will troop out to attack and who knows ighalo would have scored his second of the tournament |
forgiveness:pass that can create a scoring chance...is that one a pass? mtcheeew... let me know when he starts giving defensive split passes |
Danielnino00:you're not well at all. so in your eyes.... I am in same level with Gustav and Darkeff who believe that the super eagles can never make anything good out of every match. |
Eseose9:he is one of a kind. he never disappoints with his comment. I don't know if he does it on purpose or that's just who he is |
TheSuperNerd:well said...I will really love to see a midfield combo of ndidi, mikel and iwobi...really wanna watch how creative that would be.... I believe with such combo our wingers and striker will get more killer passes and we'll sprint balls..... |
mostob:defensively he did well but offensively he wasn't impressive... I could barely watch him take on the guinea defenders one on one.... he missed a couple of such opportunities. |
Abusule007:Trust me had it been the boy was fit all this while he would have start against Burundi... he is one of rohr beloveth... probably because he plays for rohr boyhood club. |
TheSuperNerd:you welcome supernerd it has been a while... how is your studies? trust you have been good? |
ChrisKels:you're just being naughty..... very naughty....but anyway you were right about Moses Simon... only God knows what Henry's offense is... dude may not kick a ball all through this afcon |
terzurum5:bro...we already had 9 corner kicks prior his goal... I was getting furious... the German national came to my mind... how they make use of corner kicks like penalties.... we really need to keep it up...yobo was very dangerous with this then... I must commend him...omeruo did well |
krattoss:I am not complaining ooo... was not happy with the way they were playing... I believe the midfield was not being creative enough and Moses Simon was not really a threat upfront |
charlesemeka85:you're shifting goal post.... what's now the reason for the reference. was I defending ighalo? |
Danielnino00:and what has etebo done in the middle? |
semid4lyfe:that's your lopsided opinion. |
charlesemeka85:the problem with you...is that you think the sun shines only through your window.... had it been we scored earlier we would have weakened the opposition more and as such get more goals |
iSlayer:if you say so...but for me Ndidi really played so well today.... I am still trying to understand ETEBO usefulness to this team... |
elyte89:Moses Simon should leave that place... and for mikel should be paired with iwobi in the midfield...that's fine. |
sontoly:exactly.. our defense saved us today. I am so surprised I am expecting the team to make an improvement on the play against burundi but to my disappointment it was not so..... mikel would have even done better today than iwobi... I am not really pleased with rohr benching mikel... one match is not enough to judge a player...rather he should be allowed to play the CM role...and bring in etebo for him later |
