TheGoodJoe: Shocked Alampasu did not make the list. Why three goalkeepers? Very terrible decision. Something is really fishy with this goalkeeper thing.
Alloy Agu is the fish seller there. ... that man is ept and clueless
ROHR is the best coach the Super Eagles have ever had.... when it comes to fairness and team selection Eberechi Eze made Rohr 50 man list for the Afcon
TheGoodJoe: The point is simple. The foreign borns have excess opportunities and our grassroot have very limited opportunities. So the U17 should be channelled towards giving our grassroot players more education and exposure until we fix our grassroot football structure.
Thank you.
please stop this... it makes no sense to deprive young nigerians born in the diaspora the opportunity to feature for their country in the under 17 competition... if they are good enough to make the team let them play. the reason that you wanna promote grass root football should prompt you to set up under geopolitical zone under 17 league in the country. and watch this lads grow from there... all teenagers will be mandated to come with their birth certificates and primary school result showing their true age....any team caught with over aged players should be fixed #500,000 as such there will be sanity and better avenue to groom players for even the NPFL teams.

edi287: Lateef has changed his mind. Posted a pic with naija tracksuit on. Well done to Tbaba123 for speaking to him.
Dude has come to realize that when it comes to the under 17 tourney nigeria is like germany and brazil in the men's world cup... you see why he has to stay calm..these guys picked will walk into the starting 11 of many european under 17 teams.... i foresee him making his super eagles appearance before he clock 20 if he keeps improving and working hard.
cc12: Awaziem made the Sofascore Turkish Super Lig team of the week
Nigeria players should avoid PORTO of Portugal. that club have no good plans for africans. same player who made headway in france and now turkey was never good enough for the wicked Portuguese side
komekn: This is a very difficult question it's not so simplistic.
The first thing is to be true to yourself and know what your attributes are. However, attributes can change and be created with training and development.
The Belguim league is not a top league if we are to be honest. As a consequence it will be considerably easier to get opportunities for a younger player. Or one with limited ability.
The EPL is the most competitive the Spanish league the most technical.
I really could not say which is best for players from Nigeria without residence status in Europe.
But as you already know it's VERY DIFFICULT for young players to break into the EPL irrespective of nationality and colour. Quite a few who have had no opportunity in the EPL have gone to the Bundesliga and ripped it. Because it's difficult doesn't mean that Nigerians born players are being excluded and or discriminated against. However, if they did they will have to be EXCEPTIONAL.
but those guys don't have a British passport nah and won't get a work permit.... so the best they should go is the Belgian league...they can develop from there....
forgiveness: EPL top teams are not good for young African players except they gets work permit because they are likely to make the team in no distant time. Though I can still trust him with Liverpool and Arsenal coaches but it will be better he goes to France, Belgium or Ajax. Forget about Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany. Those ones will confine them in their academy before giving them chance in the main team.
you're right. .... Spain is still better than England and Portugal. it really pains me to know that most of this lads will still jump on the ships of epl teams.... seeing what happened to oshimen. the Belgian league is the best and have always be the haven for nigeria players development.
andrew444: How did Messi single handedly did it in 2005 ?
So captain zabaleta and co did nothing ?
this guys don't understand who is their under 20 coach. ...I would have been very optimistic if the coach was amunike or better still someone hardworking like ogunbote. what I watched in AYC was an eye sore
forgiveness: I think both are needed to excel at this level in Africa.
I tell you Africa football is more about physicality. that guy will do well....I wish I can advise him to ignore epl clubs... dude need go Belgium or Spain or further development after the world cup
forgiveness: As you rightly wrote... WAS...... that one done become past tense na.
one thing I noticed about that boy. ... he can't be easily dispossessed of the ball.... he has a good ball control and he is strong.
my only problem with Henry is just his weight and physicality.
you see Kalu, Chuks, Musa and moses Simon...these guys have the strength for Africa football.... especially against the likes of teams like Senegal, Cameroon and Ivory Coast....
Icon4s: Chairman, i don't know what you are talking about. It is easy for someone to sit in a place and be pointing fingers of quota system and tribalism.
There is no part of Nigeria today that football has not gotten to.
The general belief is that the core of our national teams should be made up of Southerners. But I can categorically tell you there is this recent wave of Football development up North in the last 5-10 years especially in the last 5years. I am widely travelled in Nigeria so I know what I am talking about. Every Northern child now wants to be another Ahmed Musa.
Our youth teams recently have had good representation of Northerners and I personally do not have issues with that.
Where I always have issues with peeps here is having to feel their ethnic group is being marginalized and they will want to keep pushing the names of their brothers morning, afternoon and Night, everyday of the week. They want a 50:50 representation between their ethnic group and another ethnic group.
You do not know the weight of responsibility on these coaches. They need to deliver or face the music and so Quota system should be the last thing in their minds.
Manu Garba has again Succeeded in assembling for us a very talented team. All we need do is just support them and enjoy the goals scoring carnival
you spoke well... i own him my full support but let him try some other goal keepers...that guy yesterday really fumbled.
darkelf: Three reasons Chukwueze may not make the squad for AFCON:
1 Gernot Rohr is a conservative man-manager and prefers to give places to players he is familiar with. His conservative style even shows in the tactics he employs against opponents. He also stated earlier that opportunities for inclusion into the final Squad would only be given to players who have proven to be significantly better than those in the Squad. Is chukwueze clearly better than Moses Simon, Onyekuru, Ahmed Musa, Samuel kalu? Based on recent form yes...but can he maintain that form until the AFCON starts or will he fizzle out before the tournament?
2 It is a known fact that we have never won the U-20 tournament. The youth coaches may not want to sacrifice a gem like Chukwueze to the Senior Squad since his quality and experience playing in the La-Liga could prove indispensable to the team. I foresee them appealing to Rohr so that Chukweze would be made to play for the U-20 rather than the Senior Squad.
3 His inclusion would mean one of Ahmed Musa, Samuel kalu, Moses Simon or Onyekuru would be dropped from the team. This may cause negative tensions in the locker room which is not good for team spirit and cohesiveness. Rohr would want to avoid this.
Please note that I am not against Chukwueze featuring in the AFCON tournament but I doubt he will.
you guys make me laugh... you think other countries are there to play? for crying out loud you have the south americans and the europeans cooking some surprises for us. give that under 20 backroom staffs messi... they will still be clueless and can't win jack.
darkelf: Five things the Super Eagles must avoid at the AFCON
1 Underrating our opponents: No country made it via sloppy play. Each Representative gave her best and as such should be accorded respect. Every Team has a point to prove and we should avoid upsets happening against us
2 Goal-Keeping errors: I foresee our group opponents packing the bus against us. In that vain, if we go a goal down due to GK errors, it may prove difficult to equalize or even win. Our GK dept has given us cause to worry time and again and I hope the SE handlers come up with a solution soonest.
3 Social Media Abuse: I would like to take us back to the WC 2018. It is arguable that the Social Media Hype and over-exposure contributed to the team's poor performance. Henceforth, we need to take heed. The Players need 200% concentration both in training and during matches.
4 Lack of creativity: I earlier stipulated that our group opponents may want to pack the trailer against us in our group games. This is when we would need the services of defense splitting passes. Our attackers have to put in the work. In case Mikel or Iwobi has an off day, we need Onyekuru, Moses Simon et al to step up. However, I would stress that the lack of creativity in the middle is a worrying trend in our present SE and Rohr has his work cut out for him.
5 Questionable Team Selection: This is one of the things Rohr has to guard against. We don't need last minute lionel Messi's in our team (those that start scoring goals for fun once tournament is 2 weeks away). What we need are tried and tested players passionate and patriotic enough to give us their best. No place for bench warmers or disappointed Innit boys. Our Team shouldn't be a second option to those that spat on our face when we gave them the opportunity.
I wish us all the best in our coming friendlies and in the tournament proper. Go Super Eagles
but you said we don't need mikel....? now you mentioning creativity and you slipped in mikel and iwobi... you really need to go watch the Nigeria vs RSA match...where little or no creativity robbed us in that match for the goalkeepers... the Katsina Utd goal keeper should man the post... he is better than the Uzoho and Akpeyi of a guy
BascoVanVeli: Anyway you put it it is still discrimination. I don't care what the foreign pros have they should be allowed to represent their country in peace. Can you look one of those children in the face and tell them they can't play for their country because bla bla bla?
Why is Kelechi Nwakali bouncing around on loan if the U17 is the perfect market. I put it to you that he would be doing way better if he had just gone on trials. This proves that playing in the U17 is not the end all. After all Osimhen wouldn't have been on the u17 team if he had made the Lagos state team that year.
tbaba1234: Come on, this is a weak argument and it leads to an unpleasant place.
Manu has produced several talents of all tribes and religions. His team is balanced.
I understand you... I will drop those words and will thereafter apologise should the coach drop that goal keeper in the next match.... he did same at the last under 20 world cup in.new Zealand... that enahoro goalie despite his blunders he allowed him man the post still.... don't wanna talk much
No one can convince me that the other 2 goalie are no way better than this guy who man the post today.
I don't wanna divulge into this much before some peeps will call me a tribalist. I think the problem with most nigeria coaches still raises it's ugly head in manu's team.... you can tell their tribe or religion by simply looking at their team composition anyway I am happy because he is doing well with the lad
that keeper ehhh. I think manu should have him dropped. I kind of suspect this manu garba sha the kind of names that litters his team you will know that you can't still exonerate his team selection from sentiment
tbaba1234: I know people who watched the training and they were wondering what Lateef was doing there in the first place.
you're using time reply him..... even me that was previously angry on Lateef being dropped just have to let the issue die down.... the only thing we can do now is to support this time and as well reach out to Lateef to exercise a little patience. ..his time will come. if the likes of balogun and ekong even though they're light skinned made it into the Super Eagles...him too will scale through even before he clock 20 if he keeps improving. ..
in Greece ideye was becoming a household name...he was one of the league top scorers.... playing for olypiamqos....*sorry for my spelling.
not until he got tempted by the Chinese dollars...and he jumped into the plane heading to China. .. had it been he was in Greece still prior the world cup with his goal scoring exploits then he would have made the world cup cut...it is a regret he will live it
