Maryland Governor Wes Moore said at least six people were still missing hours after the Singapore-flagged container vessel named Dali, bound for Sri Lanka, knocked down a large section of the Francis Scott Key Bridge about 1:30 a.m Rescuers pulled two survivors to safety, one of whom was hospitalized, and searched for more in the Patapsco River after huge metal spans of the 1.6-mile (2.57 km) bridge crumpled into the icy water. The ship reported a power failure before impact, which enabled officials to stop traffic on the bridge before the collapse. "By being able to stop cars from coming over the bridge, these people are heroes. They saved lives last night," Moore said at an earlier briefing. The bridge was up to code and there were no known structural issues, Moore said. |

*AYEDATIWA IS DEPENDING ON THE GOODWILL OF ALL APC MEMBERS TO WIN THE PRIMARIES OF THE PARTY.* The camp of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa has described as fallacy the stories on some media that Former Governor Rauf Aregbesola loyalists and former Governor Olusegun Mimiko are the ones working to make Ayedatiwa win the ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the upcoming primaries election in Ondo State. The question is how does Aregbesola become a factor in the primary election in Ondo State? Even though former Governor Rauf Aregbesola is a respected member of the APC and an ally of the President of the Federal Republic, Bola Ahmed Tinubu he is not from Ondo State and would not be voting at the primaries and the governorship elections. The people described as his loyalists supporting Ayedatiwa are members of APC and like any other indigene of Ondo State have the right to support any candidate of their choice. That they have chosen to support Ayedatiwa who has been garnering an unprecedented support from all and sundry is a welcome development. On the fathom role of former Governor Mimiko, it should be seen as a mere distraction. Mimiko is not a member of APC and does not have a say in the affairs of the party. Is it the Mimiko whose party has been roundly defeated twice by the APC candidate in his base, Ondo East/West Constituency by Honorable Abiola Makinde that would now determine the fate of Governor Ayedatiwa in the APC? The writers of the stories are just on a wild goose chase and have made a very poor effort to portray Ayedatiwa as fraternising with the perceived enemies of the President. Let it be known that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no enemy in Aregbesola, any member of APC or Nigerian for that matter. He is the father of the nation and a committed democrat. It is obvious that Governor Ayedatiwa has become the real deal in Ondo politics and has been enjoying overwhelming support from people within the APC and outside of the party which portends what the future holds – victory at the polls. All well meaning Ondo state people are welcome to give him all the support he needs to make Ondo state better and greater. The people should not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by mischief makers and merchants of vices in their bid to score cheap political points.

*NASRE Review: Lagos' Discount Food Initiative Propels National Call for Economic Resilience* As Nigeria grapples with staggering inflation rates, reaching a distressing 31.7%, Nigerian Association of Social and Resourceful Editors, NASRE, stress that Lagos State emerges as a beacon of hope with its innovative approach to tackle the dire economic situation. In response to the escalating cost of living, Lagos has pioneered the "Ounje Eko" food markets initiative, offering discounted prices on essential commodities across the state. This groundbreaking initiative, spearheaded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, not only alleviates the financial burden on its residents but also sets a precedent for nationwide adoption amidst the prevailing economic turmoil. The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) paints a grim picture of Nigeria's economic woes. Headline inflation has surged to 31.7%, the highest level recorded since April 1996, exacerbating the hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians. Of particular concern is the soaring food inflation, which stands at a staggering 37.9% in February 2024. This relentless upward trajectory in food prices has triggered protests and heightened the risk of food insecurity, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warning that 8.0% of Nigerians are at high risk of food insecurity. Amidst this economic turmoil, Lagos State has taken proactive measures to cushion the impact of high food prices on its residents through the "Ounje Eko" food markets initiative. Operating exclusively on Sundays across 57 locations in the state, these markets offer a 25% discount on staple food items, including rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper. The initiative incorporates innovative measures to ensure transparency and prevent exploitation, such as the introduction of a voucher system and careful selection of independent payment solution providers and food vendors. Prices of staple food items have been clearly outlined, fostering transparency and accountability. The success of the Lagos Discount Food Initiative underscores the urgent need for similar interventions across the nation. State governments are urged to emulate Lagos's proactive approach and establish discounted food markets to ease the burden on their citizens. Furthermore, the federal government must lend its support by providing financial assistance and logistical support to scale up these initiatives nationwide. Expanding the initiative to all states across Nigeria holds immense potential to alleviate the burden of skyrocketing food prices and mitigate the widespread economic hardships inflicted by inflation. Adopting this model nationwide will help ease financial strain and enhance food accessibility for all socio-economic strata, fostering social cohesion and stability. Finally, a nationwide rollout of discounted food markets would stimulate consumer spending, boost local economies, and contribute to the overall well-being and resilience of communities nationwide. By embracing this initiative, all states have an opportunity to demonstrate proactive governance, prioritize the welfare of their citizens, and contribute to the collective effort of building a more equitable and prosperous Nigeria.

GLOBAL SHAME: MAUREEN BADEJO’S 100,000 BRITISH POUNDS INDEBTEDNESS TO DR & MRS OLUKOYA OF MFM HAS NOW MADE HER OFFICIALLY BANKRUPT IN THE UK It will be recalled that Dr and Mrs. Daniel Olukoya of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, were awarded judgment for defamation in the High Court on 13th April 2021 and then on 22nd October 2021 were awarded £100,000 damages against Maureen Badejo. It was shocking for us to find out through our investigation that Maureen Badejo has not paid any of the sums due from the £100,000 since October 22, 2021, till date at a time she offered 500 pounds per month which mfm lawyer found ridiculous. We remembered that On March 7, 2023, Dr and Mrs. Olukoya commenced bankruptcy proceedings against Maureen Badejo for her inability and failure to pay the punitive Judgement debt of such humongous amount - £100,000. Not even the GoFundMe she initiated to raise money from her blind followers could rescue her out of such global shame. Sometime on October 19, 2023, to be precise, court hearing in the bankruptcy proceedings was held, and Maureen Badejo personally appeared. Following this hearing and, in the very certainty that a court order for bankruptcy would be made against her, Maureen Badejo moved with swift and on October 29, 2023, she applied to the UK Government Insolvency Service to make herself bankrupt. We found out that by October 31, 2023, her application for self-bankruptcy was granted by the UK government. In short, MAUREEN BADEJO IS NOW OFFICIALLY BANKRUPT IN THE UK and same has been duly registered against her in the UK system as a chronic DEBTOR. Find below the document to prove this THE EFFECT OF BANKRUPTCY Bankruptcy is an extreme measure that can affect one’s life in several ways: 1 You may lose valuable possessions. 2 your bankruptcy will be made public by been published in the London gazette, and in the insolvency register, which is demeaning 3 Your bank account maybe closed, and in some case one maybe restricted from having a bank account, or allowed basic bank account just to enable you store and pay money without accessing overdraft, credits, or loans You cannot be the director of a company 4 you will have bad credit records. 5 your passport maybe be impounded, which means your passport will be taken from you Let us not forget that she offered to pay a paltry sum of 500 pounds every month, of which MFM lawyers felt was a ridiculous approach, hence turned down her offer. THE WALK OF SHAME What better way can you define a GLOBAL SHAME, than for a self-acclaimed godsent Blogger who threatened a true Prophet and Servant of God for years with shame, to now be the one to suffer the shame by declaring herself bankrupt in the middle of a bankruptcy case, just to avoid the true shame of being bankrupt by MFM. This nefarious act is just to avoid payment of her huge debt to Dr and Mrs. Daniel Olukoya of MFM? It is worth pointing out that she is owing other institutions in the UK as published, but MFM is her largest creditor. Let other foolish "bloggers" learn from this. FEMI OYEWOLE – GOD will always stand for his own

Why the merger of NAUB with NDA cannot work, the hard facts to consider' Of a truth, the merger of the Nigerian Army University and the Nigerian Defence Academy cannot work. And this is not unconnected to the fact that they are two distinct institutions with distinct visions, missions and objectives. And the hard facts to consider are presented here. NAUB is an academic national public University made up of students, scholars, old collegians and staff members with notable stakeholders like Federal Ministry of education, NUC etc. Within five years of debut, the institution has impacted the national socio-economic development framework through the provision of creative and innovative solutions in a rapidly changing and knowledge driven world. And has successfully built five strong haven of faculties namely Arts, management and social sciences, natural and applied sciences, computing, Engineering Technology and Environmental sciences and has become the darling of many as first choice in JAMB. NAUB provides a conducive teaching and learning environment in an environment once volatile and considered a hub of terrorism and ignorance. This university was able to achieve that by attracting high quality teaching and research staff, together with talented students; thus ensuring the availability of the much needed entrepreneurial ‘space’ as the platform for bottom up innovation. This facilitated the grooming of graduates during the first convocation with distinctive competence inducing key in the 21st century world of works skills that will distinguish them, and their degrees as top performers in the global scene. This unique university has become a centre of excellence for learning, research, and technological development that promotes excellence, ingenuity, creativity, and distinctive competence in intellectual outputs. One of the uniqueness of the Federal University known as NAUB is the ability to fuse practical career preparation with a focus on creating positive change in our world. Thus, such a lofty project of the founding fathers built on solid foundation should be preserved and not scrapped. Infact, some of the testaments of the graduates from NAUB is a reality of why the university should be left alone. Adewuni Victor Adetunji, a graduate of Political Science revealed how Naub has impacted him. According to him, the Nigerian Army University Biu has been a great citadel of Learning, the school delivered excellently well to the students in terms of Passing Knowledge to the students, they successfully impacted on them using their best acquired Knowledge. The Institution is a place where standards of behaviour, principles of right and wrong are clearly made. Another graduate stated that When it comes to Moral and Discipline, the school is known for her outstanding rate, because no staff be it military and Civil staff give room for undisciplined and immorality. Over academic concentration, NAUB has less extracurricular activities which make the students have high concentration for academics activities, Shedding more light on the uniqueness of Naub, another product of the school revealed that Going by the vision and mission of the school, the institution has tactically reduced the attacks of the insurgent. Biu is known for resilience, but when NAUB came to existence more of it was displayed. Speaking with passion, one of the students admitted that attending the Nigerian Army University Biu had a profound and complex impact on his personal and academic development. As a conventional university under the auspices of the Nigerian Armed Forces, it provided a unique environment that fostered discipline, focus, and a strong work ethic. One of the most significant impacts was the ability to maintain laser-sharp focus on their studies. Unlike traditional universities with a plethora of social activities and distractions, the Nigerian Army University Biu had a relatively limited social scene. This allowed them to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to academics without the constant temptation of numerous parties, events, or other diversions. The serene and structured campus life instilled in me the invaluable skill of time management and prioritisation. The disciplinary aspect of the university also left an indelible mark. Being part of an institution run by the military, there was a strong emphasis on punctuality, orderliness, and adhering to a strict code of conduct. This cultivated a sense of responsibility and accountability within me, traits that will undoubtedly serve me well in my future endeavours, be it in the professional realm or personal life. Furthermore, the Nigerian Army University Biu provided a well-rounded education that extended beyond just academics. The university's ethos emphasised character-building, leadership skills, and a deep sense of patriotism and service to the nation. Academically, the university's rigorous curriculum and high standards challenged them to push their intellectual boundaries. The faculty comprised highly qualified and experienced instructors, their mentorship and guidance not only enhanced subject knowledge but also instilled in them a deep respect for academic integrity and a thirst for continuous learning. Overall, their time at the Nigerian Army University Biu was a transformative experience that shaped them into a more focused, disciplined, and well-rounded individual. The unique environment provided an ideal setting for personal growth, character development, and academic excellence. The mandate of the Nigerian Defence Academy is very specific: to produce young officers with first degrees for the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, and the Nigerian Air Force. In some cases, the NDA assists the Police, Para-military agencies such as the Customs, Immigration, the Prisons, and Civil Defence Corps, as well as other security agencies to conduct training for their officers. On the other hand, the Nigerian Army University Biu is meant to produce skilled manpower (selected civilians and soldiers) with distinctive competence capable of meeting the security and technological challenges of the nation. Secondly, the admission policy is based on 75% civilian and 25% military/Paramilitary, security agencies, etc. The 75% civilian component will be spread to all 36 states of the Federation as well as FCT while NDA is strictly for Army officials. Furthermore, the logistical challenges of merging two institutions with distinct cultures, academic programmes, and operational frameworks can not be underestimated. Integrating NAUB and NDA into a single entity would require significant restructuring, resource reallocation, and strategic alignment, posing a risk of disruption and inefficiency in the process. While collaboration and partnership between educational institutions can yield benefits, it is crucial to recognise and respect the individual identities and purposes of NAUB and NDA. Preserving the autonomy and distinctiveness of each institution is essential to ensure that they continue to effectively serve their respective mandates and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education and national security in Nigeria. A merger between NAUB and NDA would not only be impractical but could also undermine the unique strengths and contributions of these vital institutions. Finally, the huge academic and intellectual loss and vacuum the merger would spell is indescribable and like Governor Zulum said the security consequences for the North East. Also, the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Tinubu Administration, which has come to rekindle the dashed hopes of citizens, of which Education should be the key pillar are factors the merger should be avoided.

Oronsaye's Report: What Government, Nigerians Should Know About Army University And Avoid Merger “Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the youth"- Chanakya Arguably, the Nigerian Army University Biu conceived as a research-intensive and innovative institution for the transformation of the Nigerian Defence System to a 21st Century technology-driven force has become the toast of many as the first public university to contend with first class private universities in the country. And the reason is not far-fetched. Withing five years of debut, the institution has impacted the national socio-economic development framework through the provision of creative and innovative solutions in a rapidly changing and knowledge driven world. The major issues we have in this country is continuation. The university was well approved by the appropriate authorities and now another unholy law wants to scrap it. Haba |
I guess most Nigerians don't read. The so called merger was smuggled in because it was never part of the Oronsaye report. |
I am sure mr president is not unwise like those projecting such merger. He is a man of vision and will listen to the voice of reason. That university has helped restored peace in that axis |

How prophet Kingsley Aitafo Accurately Prophesied Sisi Quadri death Interestingly, another prophetic warnings of Prophet Kingsley Aitafo has come to pass. Truth be told, the call for the merger was politically motivated. What's the university had to do with NDA |
NAUB/NDA MERGER: WILL THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT STOP FURTHER ESTABLISHING NEW UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA? Arguably, the proposed unholy alliance between the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) and the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) will definitely have a negative impact on the educational system of Nigeria, especially in the North. There are fundamental differences in the formation, mission, and objectives of NAUB and NDA, which made the merger not just impractical but laughable. The raging question that has sparked debate and raised eyebrows among stakeholders in the country is what's the rationale behind the proposed merger? The facts are there that NAUB was established years after the Oronsaye's report which according to Femi Falana is even outdated and the birth of NAUB six years ago as a pioneering educational institution in Nigeria was to serve as the foremost civil-military University for private citizens to pursue their academic aspirations and contribute to national development. With a focus on providing quality university education to disadvantaged individuals. Interestingly, 70 percent of the students are civilians as it's primary purpose of establishment was to cater for the multitude of students in search of university education in the north east axis, thereby curbing act of terrorism and banditry, a feat NAUB has achieved. On the other hand, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is a venerable institution with a distinct role in the training of cadets to become officers in the Armed Forces of Nigeria As a facility dedicated to producing future military leaders, the NDA’s curriculum and operations are tailored towards the specialized needs of military training and education. If another NDA in another region is established as a branch of the academy, it's different. This reveals that the motive behind the proposed merger is shrouded in mystery. The question is, are we okay with the universities in Nigeria? No! The emergence of several private universities springing up in the country is a pointer that there is growing demand for university education in Nigeria. A visit to Biu attests to the fact that NAUB has been able to bridge the gap in the demand for university education in the northeast. In fact, NAUB has emerged as a hub for innovation, research, and technology in that part of the country . According to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A university may be sponsored by the federal government, state government, or local government.Or by a company incorporated in Nigeria or by an individual or group of individuals. NAUB was established by the Act of Parliament and Is a full fledge federal university like other federal universities in the country, Thus, Merging NAUB with NDA means the federal government is ready to merge every Federal universities created by act of Parliament. NAUB is an internationally recognized Nigerian university and is located in Borno State. Nigerian Army University has been officially accredited and/or recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria. This clarify the question of whether they satisfy the demand for university enrolments? Of truth, the proposed merger needed to be well thought out as we couldn't afford to politicize the future of our youths and our national security. What will become the fate of the students who have seen NAUB as a haven to actualize their academic pursuits?

*A PLEA TO PRESIDENT TINUBU: PRESERVE THE NIGERIAN ARMY UNIVERSITY, BIU* Dear President Tinubu, I write to you today with a plea that comes from the heart of a concerned citizen. Your recent approval of the Oronsaye report, which includes the merger of the Nigerian Army University, Biu with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, has sparked a wave of apprehension among many of us who value education and security in our nation. While I applaud the initiative to streamline government agencies and reduce spending, I urge you to reconsider the decision to merge the Army University, Biu. This institution holds a special place in the hearts of the people of northeast Nigeria, especially in a region that has been grappling with security challenges for over a decade. The establishment of the Nigerian Army University, Biu was a beacon of hope for the youth in the region, providing them with access to quality education and opportunities for a brighter future. The university has shown remarkable growth and potential, becoming a symbol of resilience and progress in the face of adversity. In China’s national defence research, National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) has always been at the forefront. To meet the demand from strategies to strengthen national defense through science and technology and to build an innovative country, NUDT makes full use of its integrative disciplinary strengths in science, engineering, management, military science, humanities and social sciences, providing strong support for the modernization of the Chinese armed forces, providing talent and technical support to China’s national economy and social development, and ultimately contributing to world peace and development. Over the past 60 years, NUDT has evolved into a comprehensive science, engineering, military science, management, economics, philosophy, literature, education, law, and history university. The university consists of 10 colleges running more than 40 departments, institutes and laboratories, four key national laboratories and one key laboratory at the level of the Ministry of Education. In many topics, NUDT plays a leading role, nine of which are key national topics. According to the Ministry of Education’s 2002 - 2004 National First - Category Discipline Evaluation, five NUDT disciplines made the ’ top five ’ list and the discipline of computer science and technology ranked first nationwide. NUDT currently has more than 2,000 faculty members, of whom more than 300 are teachers. There are 14,000 full - time students with 8,400 graduates and 5,600 graduates. Mr. President, I implore you to recognize the importance of preserving the autonomy of the Army University, Biu. By empowering this institution and allowing it to flourish independently, you will not only support the educational aspirations of the youth in the region but also contribute to the overall development of northern Nigeria and the National Security. Education and security are not burdens to society; they are investments in our future. Just a decade ago, former President Jonathan took a bold step in establishing 37 new universities to expand access to quality education for our youth. We need more institutions like the Nigerian Army University, Biu, to cater to the growing number of qualified students seeking higher education opportunities. Your vision for a prosperous and innovative Nigeria, as articulated during your campaign, requires additional universities to harness the talents and intellect of our youth. As you have rightly said, we have the knowledge and the brainpower to overcome challenges like poverty, ignorance, and homelessness. Investing in education is the key to unlocking this potential. In conclusion, Mr. President, I urge you to reconsider the merger of the Army University, Biu, with the NDA. Let us continue to support and nurture institutions that are making a difference in the lives of our youth and communities. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Nigeria for generations to come. Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Gamji Reporters, Kaduna.

*CALLING ON THE FGN TO RETHINK THE DOWNGRADING OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY UNIVERSITY BIU. "._The Nigerian Army University Biu, (NAUB) in Borno State was established as a means to explore a non-kenetic approach in the service operations against insurgency"...Lagbaja, Lt-Gen._ The philosophy that guided the establishment of the NAUB was aptly captured by the above statement made by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Ge T. Lagbaja during the maiden graduation of about 417 students of the University in 2023. The assertion by the COAS underscores the difference between a formal military academy like the NDA and a conventional University with a military bend. It recognises the fact that a "military" exists in a larger society that calls for a "strategic" relationship as a bulwark towards sustainable peace and stability. Thus, while the Academy produces combatants along with requisite hardware, the associate University deals with critical non-kenetic matters of "interdisciplinary academic field, centered on the study of peace and conflict strategies and often devoting special attention to the relationship between military history, international politics, geostrategy, international diplomacy, international economics and military power", among others. That's why in the USA all the major arms of military have both specialised academies and Universities in tow. The famous ones being the US Military Academy at West Point and The US Army University (online), West Virginia. China has more than half a dozen of them under a "policy of leveraging the civilian sector to maximise Military power (known as 'Military-civilian fusion')". India established one in Haryana in 2013. Pakistan and indeed many nations concerned with sustainable national security, operate the two systems concurrently. It's therefore strange the the current Administration would consider diminishing this global best practice. The strategic location of NAUB, provides government the ample opportunities to even undertake studies as regards the often prenial frosty relationship between Nigeria as an English speaking country with its three French speaking neighbours of Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republics. The trio share boarders with Borno State, the host state of NAUB. Cross border crimes and illicit weapons have largely fuelled the insurgency in the North East, compounded by dearth of empirical and/or actionable intelligence information from communities in the region. An Army University could play a decisive role in such cases. The swash of land from Biu, Southern Borno to Cameroon via Garkida, Gombi and Mubi to the East and also through Askira/Uba, Chibok, Gwoza into far north Cameroon enroute Chad had no specialised security-biased tertiary institution like the NAUB. Furthermore, at the time the institution was established, it filled a geopolitical void in Borno State. Despite the existence of many tertiary institutions in the state such as the Unimaid, the Teaching Hospital, a Polytechnic, College of Agriculture, College of Health Technology, for political reasons the state government didn't deem it fit to site the Borno State University in the South, where citizens have been yearning for more educational opportunities. The people's frustration with this inequitable development was addressed by the arrival of the NAUB. The University has thus, since been seen as a balancing act. The NAUB which is now underway threat has a fundamental role to play in terms of stability in the state, the region and even internationally as a Central Africa security study center. While calling on Government to consider the NAUB strategic context and save the institution on its own merit, the Borno State Governor Zulum, his Deputy Kadafur, Senator Ndume, Hon. Betara, Haske, Jaha, Balami should impress upon the Federal Government to let NAUB be. They should deem it Honourable to lay the bare facts once more before the government. The nation stands to gain more in the long run more than the short term resources they want to save. There is no bad education but there could be bad decisions. Let the latter be avoided. *By A. G.
