partnerus: I understand your plight bro but the truth is, it's not possible. The cost of living here is pretty much expensive. I would have given the nod if you were doing a master's program based on the fact that it's a year program. What can't kill you only makes you stronger. I would have said ok fine you can struggle for the one year while your master's program lasts but in this scenario, it's absolutely unthinkable. Will the Msc programme allow you stay back for 2 years also even though it is a 1 year programme? |

partnerus: If you are talking about after you graduate, YES one can start saving reasonable amount cause you are given 2 years post study work visa which is enough to recoup whatever was spent in the course of study.
But if you mean, recouping your money while schooling, then I am sorry you cant. It's as simple as that cause the cost of living here is pretty high. It's better felt than explained though. Hehehehe you seem to get some parts of my question wrong Recouping can be done after, that shouldn't be a problem. My own major concern is being able to afford one year tuition (paying €10,000 schools fees for 1 year before leaving naija)... And then being able to make enough for the next year upon landing and getting some job I mean if 1 year isn't enough for you to be able to work and save enough for the next year, then that's a tough situation |

partnerus: Certainly not possible. The best you can do is get money to pay house rent which is on the high side if you are in Dublin and then little extra as stipend. That is feeding, transportation and the rest. It all boils down to your spending habits. But the truth is, you can't use such proceed from part time work to pay for school fees. However, during vacation period, I will agree one can save quite reasonable amount of money since it's 40 hours a week but I don't think one can pay school fees out of it. Trust me, the cost of living is quite expensive here. It takes one to be extra disciplined in spending to save something reasonable. Yeah I was asking about the vacation period when you can work 40 hrs or more. How do you plan on paying for yours then or you had all your fees before you left? ... And im thinking of Going for an undergraduate course Please advise us o Thanks |

ICaSNg: Moving on to serious matters!!!
Roll -Call and recap as we round up 2018 in the next few weeks:
1. If you have a masters degree and you are less than 40 years preferably less than 35 years with very good english language skills---- Please and please, check your occupation / field here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/find-national-occupation-code.html
And start your Canadian PR processing.
2. If you have a bachelor's degree or PhD , less than 35 years with at least 5 years professional work experience in what you studied at either bachelors/ HND /OND/PhD level and your occupation is on this list:
https://archive.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/work/work/skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists
Start your Australian PR process. Please note: Australia removes occupations like 2 or 3 times a year , so carry out comprehensive research.
3. If you don't have access to funds of at least #7m , please don't apply to Ireland . This price estimate is for singles , if you're married , you should have way more.
4. If your parents are government officials e.g custom officials or entrepreneurs with no trading records, try and find a way to make the proof of funds legit if applying to Ireland. Else, just process UK- most of our partner universities now have 2 years masters program in the UK - 1 year masters degree and 2 year paid internship.
5. If you are married and what to study in Ireland, for the final time you can't go with dependents or family members. You are only permitted to do so if its a PhD program.
6. If your program will be for more than 1 year, you may have to renew insurance for each year.
7. New regulations for people currently studying in Ireland: If you want to visit Nigeria for holidays whilst your program is still in progress , kindly contact the GNIB for relevant travel permits. Ths however excludes those with British passport or American passports.
People should try as much as possible to conduct personal research and cost estimations.
No one is forcing anyone to travel to Ireland also note that people travel for further studies for different reasons.
While there lots of millionaires in Nigeria, some people have decided they want a better future for themselves and their family abroad while others feel they can't achieve their best potential in Nigeria.
ICaS and other contributors are only here to share our experience and provide guidance, decision is left to you.
As we head into 2019, may it be our best year in all we desire for good in Jesus name. Chei What's the breakdown of the 7m like? €10, 000 is about 4.2m naira. I'm planning to apply for next year September entry but I don't have up to €10,000 sef .. Or is the 7m + proof of of funds? Also, does that mean if you come to Nigeria during the duration of your course, you have to let the authorities know? |

ICaSNg: Reasons to join early intakes : January, February and April 2019 intakes !!!
Early intake for most countries mean students get longer visas , opportunity to adjust to the cultural difference, more leisure time or less academic workload and definitely more hours to work.
For example, September intakes for postgraduate student means 12 months straight for academic workload:
September to Jan - 1st semester
Feb to May - 2nd semester
June to september - 3rd semester.
However, early intakes have at least 4 - 6 months holiday to work full time because early intakes only study for the first 2 semesters , have the summer holidays off and next academic year for dissertation / masters project. Most of the schs I have seen dont have April intake, I would have preferred that to September Is there a way to check or I have to ask from the sch? Also if I want to apply for April, when is it advisable to start? January apps have closed already Thank you |
