Tough job it is moreso parts like dom care and the working conditions in todays Britain is akin to slavery.

Always known the pay was minimum wage level. Recently, I got to know that Dom care workers are not paid for the time in transit. So you do a 12hr shift running aroud peoples houses (pets, dirt e.t.c) and only be paid for 8 hrs. Worse still, the clients/relatives many times are very entitled folks and offer a trail of insults. These carers are expected to remain calm and stomach these insults. Meanwhile someone stacking shelves in Aldi makes much more.
It's really tough sha especially dom care

Hopefully they'll review the wage structure

P.s I found this reddit page interesting- mirrors some of my sentiments on care jobs.
https://reddit.com/r/UKJobs/s/qAUr5e9reP

I'm keen to see how the care issue would be solved... no easy answers her. It's a sector largely contracted to private firms (that have to be efficient to survive) and has for a longtime been heavily reliant on foreign labour. The funding from the government has been constrained hence why they struggle to demand a reasonable minimum pay for the sector. Even the UKVI salary limit had to be reduced for carers.
Went through the link and nearly 70% said care worker / hca

... And someone was up there asking how its slavery grin

Your wife should keep trying. NHS needs nurses and no end in sight . That Msc money is best to use it as down payment for mortgage if eventually she gets one. Doing Msc for a qualified nurse is a waste of money. Lots of Nigerian nurses just went to school of nursing ( advanced diploma) and they are getting NHS jobs.
School of nursing/ advanced diploma in the UK?

Not really they got equipment to do all the hard work. Hardest part is taking the equipment up and down to the track side through the stairs. What you do mostly as a beginner is cleaning.
When the job is tough is when their is a possession work which last for 12 hours and you get paid 250 pounds for the job each day you do possession but you are not oblige to do it moreso it doesnt come often maybe once in 3 months. You can say no but people do it for the pay.
Thanks chief

Ill do it for the pay too biko grin

Checked their site and can't seem to be able to make sense of it

Track maintenance job is another good job in London. You work 4 hours per night and get paid 100 pounds per night. Work starts 1:30 am and finishes 4:30 am for London underground, london overground and dlr

Exactly. So most Brits aren't lazy, they just don't have the same incentives for "suffer" work, same as you if you didn't have fees to pay.
Well, true

There used to be a lot more Brits in care though, along with EU nationals. It didn't help that during COVID they sacked thousands of care workers who refused to get vaccinated.
Care homes are largely privately owned and can afford to pay more (and they would if they had to), but they don't want to give up their juicy profits.

At the bolded, I'm sure you were saying a few pages back that you wanted a soft job. Pot calling kettle... grin
I dey chest 14 hr shifts 5 days a week. At the bus stop by 4.45AM when theres train strike, in winter and whenever. Infact, one of the residents told me one time I should just pack and start living with them at a point since I'm always at work cheesy

School fees hustle no be anybody mate oo. When school"s finance department starts to threaten you, you'll forget soft work and take whatever you see

Everyone likes soft work btw. There's no award or extra pay for suffering grin wink

The better plan which various think tanks are trying to get the govt to take seriously, is to increase wages in the care sector so that it becomes more attractive to British people. Let's face it, these care homes have to rely on foreign labour because that's how they get away with substandard pay and working conditions.

How is the govt forcing people to work in care? People choose to apply (or pay) for the job and can leave at any time no? Also as most immigrants are highly skilled and the brightest and best as has been claimed several times, they should be highly sought after in other sectors and have options outside care.
They'll never increase the salaries in the care sector for care workers

Even nurses, Drs are crying for wage increment, Them never see shishi

They should put a noose around the care worker visa and let's hear word abeg

Let's see if their citizens will tend to their elderly in those care homes and endure the mental toll that comes with working there

People wey no fit do 14 hr shift grin

Everybody just dey play

Please, who has a bank that's offering switch bonus. cheesy

Those Amazon warehouse jobs pay well cos it's valued as an integral part of a business.

I even said where were these jobs when aI was a student in the UK. I would have done it na.

You'll be shocked at how many spouses and children the devil decides to use

Still watched one yesterday night that sent her husband to the other side for $500K life insurance

Same ajebutter can work in an office or from home earn the same amount of cash
Same ajepako can work in a warehouse and earn same amount of cash

No be laziness
I just tire.. So because i be Nigerian, make i no use my head and find good, soft work in the UK?

When guys in NHS Trusts MH will literally sit and make £12 - £15 doing nada at a night shift, WH house guys will offload container all night

Either work with your brain or body in the UK, the choice is yours

I will agree to disagree but Anyone who can’t survive Uk warehouse jobs is an Ajebutter from naija. Ajekpako wont see this as work, Compare Nigeria working environment with Uk and it’s like the difference between the earth and heaven.
May struggle, suffering and suffer head not master our body

There's 0 benefit attached to struggling and suffer head that we mask as aje butter and ajepako in Nigeria.

I can bet it with you that even you will rather make £50K working from home than £50K at a warehouse carrying load and offloading container

You have said it all. Death punishment is the best solution to most crimes such as drugs related and corruption.
And original life sentence (not 23 years) / death penalty for the "drillers" and roadmen

That's how to make their country sane

I'd rather trek through the desert than use Air Maroc, Turkish and the likes (except i want to get a transit visa in Morocco or Turkey)

If it's not Qatar, Emirates or BA, I'll rather stay where I am. It's always missing luggage, transit visa palava, non-refund of money and plenty super story from those folks

Brethren in Scotland, Dem talk say una go soon open legal house to drug una self. Is this progression or retrogression? 😞

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-66929385
Reminds me of "Amsterdam" in series "The Wire"

It means they have failed in their war against drug sales and use.

These countries need to just go the Singapore, China, Vietnam and Saudi way and just bring back the death penalty for drug pushers and murderers
