koonbey: It's intense but as I understand 'supported living', that includes time when they'll be sleeping at the patient's place at night and/or basically just monitoring them, so it's not physically intense whatsoever - as opposed to working in a care home with 'invalids'.
For people who don't mind it, it's a really good gig, lol.
Edit: This is hearsay of hearsay o. Nobody should make plans based on this o, abeg. That's what I do It's basically chilling 85% of the time The wahala is paper work |

For hotel, I stayed in hostels (dormitories)) in those countries. They're cheap, but not the most luxurious or private spaces How much for the hostels and is it suitable for couples? |

jedisco: One thing I've noticed is the cultural dilemma 1st gen kids experience moreso in less diverse/smaller town. I feel for them. They struggle to connect with newly immigrated Nigerians who'd burst into pidgin whenever we see ourselves. They also struggle to immiate with white folks in these smaller towns (as they're less accomodating). It's like they're stuck in the middle of different cultures and struggle with an identity that fits them. Of course not all. What you said is the truth, I remember seeing one in Boro along woth my colleague walking with some white kids. She said "Ekaasan sir" and was so happy to get a response in her language I on the other hand was happy that her folks taught her her language and spoke to her with a big smile. Told her to greet her parents and thank them for me I am still trying to figure out how guys from other countries do it. They seems to retain their cultural identities to the tee; Indians, Pakistanis, Chinese, Turkish guys still speak their language like they were born there. |

Goke7: It's the pictures they usually show them about Africa are the primary reason for such questions, My wife has worked as an assistant teacher and the pupils were once shown videos about poverty in Africa, my wife said immediately they started looking at her kind of like having pity on her cos to them she must have passed through such. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures pass stronger messages. Well, thats also true. but. do. you now go about showing every tom, dick and harry how Africa / Nigeria truly is? LOL |

Hopefully, the child gets more opportunities to experience Nigeria by him/herself. That way, you he/she wouldn't ask the kind of questions I get from the grown-up kids of some diasporeans. What kind of questions do you get? Trying to learn here too |

AlphaUno: The alarming rate of black kids in gangs is worrisome, now! Add fresh influx of kids born to these ‘woke’ immigrant parents to it. One can only hope many won’t look back in 10/15 years and regret bringing the whole family, especially their kids. Blacks do not hold on strongly to their cultural identity - we are easily swayed. We will see how it goes. God keep us till then On the flipside, it seems Nigerian kids and the gang thing is a lot common in UK than other countries for some reason |

babajeje123: Hello people, can teachers in the UK on this platform kindly share their experience in the UK classrooms. There're loads of write ups and videos out there portraying teaching in the UK as working in hell because of some students' unruly behaviours, and consequently making some Nigerians who wanted to wanted to explore the teaching route that will be opened in February to rescind on their decision. Your views will be highly appreciated. Did you see the thread on Twitter about it? |

Yeah, I think it the distance that's scaring Nigerians away from Australia. Am not the type that travel home every year so it all good True though Do you have to take any conversion exams? Still need to make some research in Jan to see the best possible way to go about it fr someone who's a nurse in the UK or tech bros |

Thastie: I have only been in the UK for 3 months and I have sent 1.2m naira home. If I was still in Nigeria I wouldn't have been able to send anything with my 95k salary. My dad n mom would still be sick and we would have to beg rich relatives to assists. Also I have spent £1300 in bringing my spouse here so don't be naive. Just migrate in the right way. The £1,300 is minus POF right? |

Lekan239: some tech guys earn that much. Even some content creators. A guy who makes is cash through YouTube once posted is pay check here on nairaland, it was on front page, you could search it and confirm yourself
Its not about comparing the pounds to naira while you stay abroad, People who earn below £40,000 annually in the UK are considered poor there..
Earn £40,000 annually in Nigeria and you are a king here. So I could earn far less than what a £40,000 UK earner earn and still live far more comfortably.
Most migrant in UK who earn £40,000 and below, the least rent monthly(poor man house) in low income area in the UK for one bedroom is about £1000 plus energy bill. Leaving you with £28,000. You will be taxed about £10,000 for earning £40,000. Leaving you with £18,000.
To you that £18,000 runs into million in Nigeria, but it can't even pay the grocery and utility bills down where you stay. All you people think is about the money, money and money. smh. Not quality of life, not how dangerous Nigeria is You'll earn that high in naija only for police to shoot you at Ajah under bridge like that lawyer lady some days ago. All your money, everything, gone. Just like that A friend of mine died on boxing day (3 days ago) . Got into an accident around gbagada and was rushed to the hospital. Instead of the hospital to treat him, they posted his picture on IG and were waiting for his family to come and pay for his treatment. He died before they got there. Explain to me how your own money for save you for there |
