Zahra29: It's hard to say tbh. I would have thought that the govt would want to move quickly cos they know that if the figures remain this high, or get even higher this time next year, that would mean political extinction for the Tories (such as Labour has suffered after the public blamed Blair for open door immigration).
I would say to carry on with your plans but stay extra vigilant. In the days of T May, the home office changed policies and rules routinely and without major announcements as most changes did not require a new immigration bill. So they are able to move fast once the will is there. Thanks I'll continue to look at them with side eye. I know they will do what's in their best interest though |

Zahra29: These are figures for legal migration only. It doesn't include irregular migrants (this is usually a finger in the air estimate) or the channel boat crossings (which is estimated for be around 35,000 this year)
Of the legal migration, the highest numbers are student visas, followed by refugees from Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan, and HK British overseas passport holders.
The govt can't do much to change the numbers from the likes of Ukraine or Hong Kong, for obvious reasons. So they have indicated that the focus will be on tightening the student visa route and some work visa categories to try to get the migration figures down Thanks for clarifying Any possible estimate on when that will be? I know new rules are coming and it's only a matter of when |

I changed jobs 3ce last year within the NHS with the 1st job starting in January and the 4th one in December - the 1st 3 were with the same Trust and department at 3 different bands while the 4th was with a different one at 1 band lower. Got 2 other offers and about 9 interview invites within the same week that I got the offer from the new Trust. Which role una dey see plenty jobs like this |

koonbey: AFAIK it would only apply when you're writing your dissertation, so that'll be the end of the second year or whenever you're writing the dissertation. Therefore, you'd be free to work full time in summer of the first year. Alright |

koonbey: Are you doing a masters course?
If 'yes', then after the Christmas holidays and semester break, you can only work full time AFTER submitting your dissertation, whether that's during summer or after. From then on you can work full time. Even for 2 yr courses? |

kode12: Yes. I believe there are people on this thread who have done that. I would advice you speak with your schools international desk, they’d better be able to advice you. I think for many, they’d have the option of switching to part time, but since you only have dissertation left, it should be an easy pass. Thank you I appreciate |

Is it possible to get sponsorship and still remain on 20 hours per week while still studying?
Can one switch visas based on that?
Thank you! |

donshegzy: Hello house and to the elders here.
I have a bit of an issue I need clarity on.
I work for a company in the US prior to moving here in September (Payoneer payment). I also have some private clients I work with and get paid via Upwork (it’s an easier option as PayPal doesn’t support Nigerian accounts). Ultimately, both earnings end up in my Payoneer account.
I’ve moved to the UK (student dependent) and I’m at the final stage of some interviews that look good (I intend to juggle any job in the UK with the existing setup as it’s pretty easy for me).
Question is, do I have to report the US earnings for UK tax purposes (I don’t intend to touch the $), what about the Upwork payments received for services offered?
Kindly enlighten me please. Certain you didn't use NI to receive those payments before in Nigeria so .. Continue to use your Payoneer for funds swap to NGN |

teamc: Got married 2yrs ago and we have a beautiful daughter, she has this dream of studying in Canada and I support her dream.
Our immigration consultant recommend she apply alone to increase chances that i and our daughter can join her later.
Now visa is out and she will be travelling next month. I have read numerous stories about how women change when they travel out.
Should I be worried? were you added to the app? did she mention that shes married? |

Igbamatigbi: Hello,
I know this have been talked about many times but I need help on this please.
I have been in UK for 13 months for 2 years Masters, I registered with Experian and my score is 845. I have tried to apply for a credit card even with AMEX , I saw a link here and applied and was rejected. I don’t know what I am doing wrong, I have registered on credit ladder for some months now, I am registered on electoral roll. I have direct debit for data, NHS prescription and Netflix.
Please can someone help out? Experian sent a random mail that I qualify for Backlay credit card, I applied and was rejected, what should I do ? Thanks . Why not start with a credit builder on Monese first and then get a sim or phone contract with providers like O2 Lexus may have other cc's you can apply for |
