You might be shocked when you discover that professionals working in these countries do not fare better than the UK. I spent 6 weeks living and working in NC, USA in 2015 and concluded that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The quality of life when correlated to income is roughly the same in most developed countries.
6 weeks living in one part may not paint the true picture too cheesy

You advise person not to go to UK? Why na.
Better to go and try to survive than not to go.

Not trying is riskier than trying and failing.
Nah, I didn't say he shouldn't goto the UK

I said when coming, try to take up a good course of study o instead of international management or international business

.. And also to learn in demand skills before coming. Can't tell anyone not to come, no be my papa get country grin

To the gentleman that mentioned Canada. For a minutes I thought OP was actually describing Canada. First world experiences are similar. The listed reasons should not be the reasons why you decide to jump ship.
Australia remains my own top choice sha, the visa delays with Canada is a big turn off for me and thats minus the cold
Thought their healthcare made some sense but your post says otherwise

All in all, the Home Office is still collecting visa fees from students, the universities are waxing fat on tuition, and brutal survival of the fittest is going to operate in the next 2 years to determine which of the students make a return from the school fees investment and who doesn't
Wish I can print this and show someone who I advised but turned me to "enemies" abi "village people" who dont want him to come to the UK

Studying International business and all those types of courses wont help in the long run

Why do nigerians living abroad fail to come back to Nigeria even for Important things like their parents death, burial, brother's wedding etc? I also find it weird some remain there for 15, 20, 30 years without ever visiting home even if na just once.

Credit scoring is relative and this has absolutely nothing to do with how lenders determine credit worthiness. It only helps to show us, credit consumers, our overall credit health. All lenders have various internal criteria that they use to determine affordability so generally speaking, having a 25% credit utilisation is good for scoring but this matters where, I for example have a very large line of credit so my 25% is A LOT. Therefore lenders will see that I am able to cope with the credit I am utilising and will be happy to lend me up to that amount. As your friend only has a very small amount, using it all and paying it back will show lenders that he can be trusted with that 500 however he MUST never go over by 1 penny or miss a payment because that will totally ruin his credit, it is safe to always repay using direct debit and also stay a little bit below his max too.
Alright
Thanks! smiley

It does affect, 2 month ago I made a repayment that was meant to keep my account under 25%, but the repayment didnt hit my card within the given SLA.

It dropped my score by 17 points
Why not pay yourself by card?
Or I did not understand you

Hi Elders,

I have a friend (na friend o. grin ) who has been maxing out his credit limit (I think its £500 / £600) and has been paying it back

Warned him about the impact on his score but he claims it wont affect anything as long as he pays back in full every month

I am curious as to how this actually impacts his score as general guidance I see online it to keep it under 30%. (I keep mine under 15% to avoid stories that touch the heart and soul)

Some input will be appreciated as I plan to show this to him. smiley

Is it that bad there? How about getting jobs to pay bills at least?
Well, some people get jobs but it really isn't that easy for students.

I think dependents get jobs easily as most of the jobs are full time. remote customer service jobs, support etc

I don't know where you're based. But what I posted is the rules in Scotland

Its so bad that 12months minimum or 6 months minimum tenancy agreement is illegal. Tenants are on a monthly rolling contract.

I use a letting agent, so they adhere strictly to the legal framework.
I'm in Middlesbrough, England.
Nonsense place
Seems it's not the norm here

Its in force already.

I was planning to increase the rent early this month (Scotland you need to give tenants 3 months advance notice and you can only increase the rent once every 12 months). That plan is dead in the water now. grin

I heard the ban is in place still march next year. I won't put it past nicola sturgeon to extend the ban. A ban is also in place for evictions. Thank goodness I have very good tenants and I use a reputable managing/letting agency.

Still not stopping from buying another "buy to let". I'm currently in the market looking for the next ideal property grin
Please o, my Landlord increased my rent without any notice and others haven't had their rent increased (mine is a new contract / renewal)

I noticed it seems the property has a new owner and a new company now manages it. Is it something I can contest?
