keba:Can any of them show any evidence for what they claim? Take for instance, the biblical claim of Adam&Eve, Eden, Flood, etc. Are there any evidence for these events? |
keba:How did you come by that assessment that atheist see themselves as perfect? Absolutely NOT. The considered atheist is one who has gone through a process of evaluating the various religious and supernatural claims and decided they are simply stupid. He/she then finds solutions and meaning in human capability and strife for a betterment of the human conditions thru natural means. That does not mean s/he is perfect. |
I would like to preface this post by stating that this is NOT an anti-Jewish, anti-Israeli post. I am very much in favour of having a state as it is now as Israel and would not wish any harm to come to Israel. Neither do I wish any harm to the Palestinian people. I think the Jews and Arabs states basically have what it takes to build peace in the Middle East, were it not for both sides attachment to bronze age dogmas. Now, here we go; Advocates for the biblical Israel claim the land was given to them by their god as a Promise or Covenant they had with god. To this end, god drove out the existing populations from these lands (usually by genocidal means) and settled his beloved people thereon. Now, if the Jews can hack back to the 3000 years old claim as the rightful owners of these lands, could it not also be possible to bring charges of genocide of the various tribes whose lives and lands where forcibly taken away by the Jews? If one claim is valid, certainly the other must be valid too. For a biblical account of how the Jews acquired some of their land, here are some passages from the bible; 1 Samuel 15:2-3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts , go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. Deuteronomy 7:2 says, "And when the Lord your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them; then you must utterly destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them, and show no mercy to them." Joshua 10:40 states, "So Joshua smote the whole land; he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded." Numbers 31: 7 They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man. 8 Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba—the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. 9 The Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder. 10 They burned all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps. 11 They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals, 12 and brought the captives, spoils and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho. 13 Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle. 15 "Have you allowed all the women to live?" he asked them. 16 "They were the ones who followed Balaam's advice and were the means of turning the Israelites away from the LORD in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the LORD's people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. |

onyinye2:You fit answer my five questions on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=112086.msg1946268#msg1946268? GOOD luck AND GOODNIGHT |
Who can answer my questions five? |
If you are so content, why do you find yourself questioning The Bible? A content person wouldn't see the need. You are searching for something. You don't know what but you are searching. But you will find it . . .The main reason is that I have a passionate zeal for the search of the truth of reality. Religions claim to know what this reality is about but each time humans have questions reality the true answered have come from scientific rationalism and not from religions. Thus religions represent not only great falsehood but also great diversion of the resources humans possess. That is my motivation for questioning religion. |
stopping play that game, naah. Just tel me here. I shall be off in about 5 minutes. Got work tomorrow. |
onyinye2:what is it naaah? |
agaba123:Utter rubbish and delusional |
Missy B:Just tell me now. I shall be going in 10 minutes. If you get them right here now I might answer them b4 I go. |
rampant:Some of you guys love what I do, that is why I do it. Keeps both of us bz. |
Missy B:What is ur question, then, my dear? |
onyinye2:A: False B: False C: False I am actually very happy and content with my life. |
agaba123:I have no religion nor do I belief a god exists. |
Matthew 5: 38"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' 39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41 If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. |
agaba123:No, I was simply asking whether by cursing them he was doing what JC would have approved of. It seems inconsistent to me given JC is supposed to have said that we shld luv our enmies and turn the other cheek. If a man comes into your house and takes away your shirt, give him your coat also - I think that is what JC said. So it sounds inconsistent that he would curse these thieves in JC names when the bible clearly required the opposite - possibly opening the doors wide and letting them come in and take more stuff. |
Which of these do live your life by? Discharge of bodily fluids. Bodily discharge refers primarily to natural and unnatural genital flows, but not to open wounds from accidents.2 Childbirth, via its association with the discharge of the bloody placenta from the vagina, rendered a woman unclean for forty days for a male child, eighty days for a female child (Lev 12:1- . Onset of menstruation rendered a woman unclean for seven days (15:19-24; cf. Ezek 36:17) and any unnatural genital flow of blood rendered her unclean until seven days after that flow of blood ceases (15:25-30). Ordinary marital intercourse rendered the couple unclean until evening (15:18; cf. Exod 19:15), while inadvertent intercourse with a menstruating woman rendered the man unclean for seven days (Lev 15:24), and deliberate intercourse with such a woman, a practice Ezekiel lists as a sin (Ezek 18:6; 22:10), made both subject to divine "cutting off" (Lev 20:18). |
Missy B:What happened then to the dietary, hygiene and cleanliness laws in the OT. Do you observe them? If you don't why not? |
Nn-a-Nn-a:The blood of Jesus is supposed to have replace all the legalism and codes of law in the OT. That is what Jesus split he precious blood for. |
Nn-a-Nn-a:Is that in the Old or New Testament? Old testament laws/curse are no longer en force. |
