Politics › Ogun Civil Servants Begin Warning Strike Tuesday by HzRF(op): 11:05pm On Mar 09, 2015
Barring any last minute intervention from the state government, civil servants in Ogun State, under the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, will on Tuesday begin a three-day warning strike.

The council last Friday directed its members to proceed on a three-day warning strike from Tuesday over the failure of government to remit the sum of about N2.8bn, deducted from their salaries, to the appropriate agencies.

JNC’s Secretary, Mr. Modiu Bello, gave this directive at a press briefing held in Iwe Iroyin, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta.

The warning strike ends on Thursday.

Bello, who was in company with other officials of different unions under the council, said the council decided to embark on the strike following the failure of all known channels of negotiation.

He added that the three-day warning strike by public servants “is to drive home our demands” for the remittance of the four-month deductions made from their October, November, December and January salaries.

The secretary directed all public servants in the state to stay away from their duty posts between Tuesday, 10 and Thursday 12, 2015.

Bello said, “Sequel to the refusal of the state government to accede to the demand of workers in the state public service over the unpaid four-month deductions made from their salaries in October, November, December, 2014 and January, 2015, the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, on behalf of the state public servants, hereby issues a three-day warning strike effective from Tuesday, March 10 to Thursday, 12, 2015 to drive home their demand.

“The JNC is constrained to take this action since every known channel of negotiation/dialogue has proved abortive. At a meeting held Friday, February 20, 2015, government officials informed labour of plans to pay two months deductions in addition to February 2015 salaries owing to paucity of funds.

“Labour (Nigeria Labour Congress), however, insisted that the arrears of deductions, covering the mentioned months, be fully offset before the payment of February 2015 salary to ameliorate the sufferings of workers in the state, who continue to find it increasingly difficult to meet their basic family needs, given that the objective of subscribing to some of these savings have been defeated, arising from these unpaid deductions.

“The government however renege on its own position and neither acceded to the demand of Labour.”

That's where you are mistaking, you don't have to be intelligent to insult people, but to respond maturely in the face of provocations takes more than. Maturity and intelligence, and beside people thought it's only opposition that have the monopoly of insult, imagine, someone in power abusing a fellow citizen in such a manner, I wasn't brought up to abuse mu elders, my vows are simple, Doyin asked to be called a bastard if APC survives one year,ex Ghana footballer vow to have his head shaved if Ghana loose the final, a very powerful youruba man vow to walk naked on a market day if GMB wins, imagine hillary clinton abuse a fellow American for simple satirical comment.

Let me ask u . When there is injustice and there is no room for redress cos the govt of the day had made such impossible, what do you think the citizens will resort to? This time around they people re warning ur desparate party in advance that they won't go to court to waste time cos ur party will get perpetual injunction that will keep them in power till their ill gotten power expires. Nigerians truly want change that's why every pdp moves re under watch. That's what I mean by been proactive.nigerians wi not allow your party to rig again. Never again. The best that will happen is gej will be ruling pdp states while buhari will be leading apc states which is same as paralel govt. Stop ranting and accept ur forth coming defeat in good faith

Pdp supporteres re expert in insulting people. Your case cannot be different cos a snake will always give birth to a tall thing. Let me dignify you with an answer for the purpose of liberating those gulible pdp members who may click like for your achievement in insulting well meaning and responsible citizens. Apc ve never threaten any war. Amaechi made a coment in which he told the world that if pdp rigs the election, apc will form a parallel govt. A position which apc confirmed is their position. Only a fool will allow a desparate govt to steal the mandate of the people. The implication of that state is that nigerians want their vote to count under free and fair election. The don't want a govt that will change the goal post in the middle of the game. You and I know that gej is ruling with impunity without rule of law, so it won't be nice dignifying him with the idea of going to court since he doesn't respect court orders.

All this propaganda against apc trying to portray them as a violent party doesn't hold any water. Tinubu or buhari doesnot work in radio or tv stations. In a sane society investigation will be done to ascertain the cause of the fire but here we re blaming apc. Gej canot pregnant pej. The thing to blame is apc.fuel scarcity due to govt inability to pay marketers, the next thing is to blame apc. When will pdp stop the blame game and focus on issues that put food on citizens table? There has been so many fire incident in lagos and apc never blamed pdp . I only hope pdp will not drag this nation to a civil war. You cannot rule a nation by force. Pdp time is up and they must go without a fight

Signed sealed and delivered

APC know that Buhari have no credible defence that's why all they are doing in court is playing on technicalities or attacking the process rather than the case itself

Like oh we have not been served the court order properly ......... But they are already in court answering to the same charge.

Oh you can't serve us the court order by substituted means through the media

Oh the elections is no longer urgent and the case can be adjourned till next century

Oh a case that determines the legitimacy of a candidate has no impact on the election and as such should not be decided before election

APC and their lawyers in summary are beating about the bush and Buhari will be disqualified soon!
Sincerely I don't think he will be disqualified cuz rules aint meant for some pple
