Been observing the thread. Please count me in.
Not to derail the cash contributions, but may I also suggest that donations in kind be made for the kids(clothes and stuff) as well as foodstuff for the family.
FamilyRe: Should A Husband Iron His Wife's Clothes For Her? by iaabc(f): 11:13am On Nov 11, 2011
honestly I do not understand why this should even be an issue, what is the big deal with helping your wife out, does it not form part of the promise of taking care of her till death do you part. Love your wife and take care of her. She wasn'' loafing around while you did the ironing according to you, so why not.
PhonesRe: Mtn Is Stealing From Me? by iaabc(f): 12:08pm On Nov 03, 2011
Once you activate a bundle plan on your phone, you are in trouble o, because when it finishes, you are automatically charged per kb whether you like it or not. I had cause to go to the MTN office after making several unresolved calls to their service line. My question was, if i can acitvate the bundle why cant i have the liberty of deactivating when i dont want to use it, and they couldnt give me an adequate answer. Their suggestion which is what i do is to scramble the APN on my phone, that way background apps cant connect to the internet and I still have my credit.
FamilyRe: Am 21 Yrs & I Hav 1.3 Million, My Dad Wants Me 2 Save The Money. Somebody Help Me. by iaabc(f): 11:13am On Nov 03, 2011
Buying the car is the first step to looking for trouble, because then you will spend so much maintaining it and the new status. Your father has been there, done, that, listen to him. Invest it properly and by the time you leave school, you may have more than enough to start your own business and buy brand new cars to boot!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Why Do Nigerian Employers Conduct Job Interviews Till Night? by iaabc(f): 9:21am On Nov 01, 2011
Interview at night ke? Why? Never heard of this before. Well I guess the thing is those people have no life and as such see no reason why others should. God forbid that I wait for such nonsense, because they are inadvertently telling you to expect to have no life when you start to work for them. Tufiakwa!
FamilyRe: Help! Mine Jobless 18 Years Old Brother Just Bought A Car Worth 5million Naira by iaabc(f): 9:44pm On Oct 28, 2011
This is really scary. To think that employers post vacancies here! These people will steal their employers monies all in the name of maga don pay or politicians are doing it. This is truly worrisome.
BusinessRe: Is It Ethical To Study Your Competitor’s Strategies? by iaabc(f): 9:17pm On Oct 28, 2011
i am not even sure ethics come into this. its more like using common sense. if their strategy is legal and its working, you would be an unserious business person if you didn't try to apply the formula to your own biz as long as there's no espionage and corrupting involved.
FamilyRe: Help! Mine Jobless 18 Years Old Brother Just Bought A Car Worth 5million Naira by iaabc(f): 12:53pm On Oct 28, 2011
I want to be amazed at the kind of responses here but then again i remember that people who are our leaders are from among us. And if the mindset displayed on this thread is anything to go by, then Nigeria still has millions of miles to go.
FamilyRe: Help! Mine Jobless 18 Years Old Brother Just Bought A Car Worth 5million Naira by iaabc(f): 11:38am On Oct 28, 2011
To the folks saying negative things about the OP, if your brother suddenly appears with largesse that doesn't befit his unemployed status, you would say nothing?!

FamilyRe: Help! My Graduate Friend's Husband Wants To Turn Her Into A Full-time Hou by iaabc(f): 11:54am On Oct 18, 2011
This should strictly be between the husband and wife. Why bring all other persons into it? 2 months, 2 years down the line, i bet she will be blaming you all for pulling down her marriage. It is left to the husband to convince his wife of his reasons for wanting it that way and make her see reason. And all this idea of spending years in the university and wasting it, is only so if she chooses to see it that way. She could do so many other things rather than go work for someone else. What if she sets up her own company where she can apply all the knowledge and wisdom of university, and does excellently at it while still affording her the time to be the wife and mother her husband is probably yearning for?
FamilyRe: ... by iaabc(f): 11:02am On Oct 14, 2011
Na wa o. Trust this to denegerate as per Nairaland.

Personally, I see nothing wrong in using used items for your babies, as long as you can get them very clean. I even wonder why there isn't a forum of some kind where people can give or exchange items they are no longer using. So many people stock up so many items their kids no longer use that their houses are overstuffed. Why cant we just give them away? This our Nigeria sha, we have all kinds of unhealthy attitudes. If you are no longer using something, give it to someone who needs them!

I gave out my baby cot (which I made but my baby hardly ever slept in), but OP, if you need other baby stuff, I would be glad to send.

FamilyRe: How Do I Manage With This Character? Please Help! by iaabc(f): 1:01pm On Oct 05, 2011
something doesn't add up.maybe its pregnancy hormones, and if it is, you should just be patient with her, because honestly, it belies understanding why a rather sane woman would start misyarning suddenly. But all said, try reason, lay down boundaries sharply before this degenerates into something unmanageable.
HealthRe: Swollen (Expanding) Of The Testis Of Newly Born Baby. Pls Advise. by iaabc(f): 12:28pm On Oct 05, 2011
If I were you I would have asked the teaching hospital why the 2 year wait, could it be that they think it could resolve itself by then or are they just being naija hospitals? Then I would seek second third opinions even after going to the other private hospital and I would act fast!
FamilyRe: I Am Now Begging The Shock For The Death Of A Boy That I Do Not Know From Adam T by iaabc(f): 12:05pm On Oct 05, 2011
Its really sad that our health system is in such shambles. Well done OP, like someone said, you were there for a reason, even though the boy died, find your calling and fulfil it.
I also think that as bad as the health system is, more enlightenment needs to be done so that people will use the health clinics more rather than go to pharmacies. Plus there needs to be stricter regulations with respect to the pharmacies.
FamilyRe: What Is The Best Gift To Give To Your Wife by iaabc(f): 11:07am On Oct 05, 2011
The best gift is something that comes from your heart, no matter the cost. It has to be something she can use, there is no point giving her something that she will tuck away somewhere.
Suggestions are: something she has been asking for for a while, even jokingly (like Mrs CC and that X5!)
a new car (if she has one already, a vacation for her (if you have kids, this can be especially reinvigorating for her for you to spend a day or 2 with the kids while she gets some me time), substantial cash to do with as she pleases (not an open cheque that she knows you will be watching over to see what she does with it). Above all like I said, something that truly comes from your heart.

And if you want to deliver the car or any of the gifts to her in a most magnifique! way, I am into that.

FamilyRe: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by iaabc(f): 12:45pm On Sep 21, 2011
don't worry blank. give a few more months. Mine would also not spend time watching all the DVDs i bought and he preferred following me about like i was going to run away when the ones of tv played. As long as I am there, he will watch whatever I watch, so that is probably what is happening to yours. After a while though (thanks to God!), he now spends time enjoying Mickey mouse clubhouse, Special agent OSO and all the rest. Someitmes though, he will still do follow follow. grin
FamilyRe: Take Care Of Your Affairs by iaabc(f): 11:34am On Sep 20, 2011
Its sad but still happens. I sincerely believe that we all male and female need to put our affairs in order. Many of us forget whatever we filled in those forms while we were being recruited and its only when the sad thing happens that one finds out. In Nigeria especially we seem to have a phobia for making wills.
FamilyRe: Parental Guide: Bringing Up A Child by iaabc(f): 10:17am On Sep 20, 2011
