Health / Re: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by Iamajoyfulmothe: 6:53am On Aug 17, 2019
Hello ladies

I used to be quite active in this group about 2 years ago but went quiet as I tried to take my mind off TTC matters.

To the glory of God, I now have a daughter born earlier this year. This morning, I have come to pray from the depth of my heart that God Almighty will fill your wombs even more than he filled mine. This joy that motherhood has given me, may you all experience it within the next 12 months. Before the end of this year, may you forget any pain your waiting period caused you just as I have forgotten mine. Amen and amen and amen

peacenigeria:

Discount is an excuse being used by the US Embassy. Discounts are not govt subsidized and are available to all non-insured self paying patient whether they are local or international.

@peacenigeria that's incorrect. I asked the hospital i was going to use in Texas and the lady i spoke with kept beating about the bush. I asked her directly whether they have a way of billing these discounts back to the government and she said "to be honest, yes we do get the discounts back from the government"

It is unfortunate that the hospitals never mentioned this when offering the discounts to us. Also unfortunate that we are being held responsible for accepting the discounts but hey it's their country, their rules!

This might be unique to your doctor though.

My doctor's office in Canada calls the day before every appointment.

My urine is tested at every appointment.

I was given a new brand of prenatal drugs at my first visit

Early days yet but I've had an OK experience so far. By God's grace, it will only get better

[quote author=Shilohzmum post=76258843]In the US my doctor was much more keen...Like demanding to even see the prenatal drugs I was on.He asked I stopped that 1 from Naija and continue with the ones he gave free to his patients.
Each visit in d US,tests n urine samples whr collected weekly liin d doctors office ...
A Patient is called prior to doctors visit to be reminded atleast..lol...here d are more concerned about wen visits are missed,so you pay a fine additional to initial visit fee.
Maybe it's me thou bt I sure prefer my US doctors visits experience. I pray the hospital visit on d main day would mk up .fingers crossed.

Hello

Thanks to all who have been useful towards the growth of this thread.

I applied for my visa towards end of November. Visiting visa, proof of very large funds from my business, applied alone, included documents showing property ownership, marriage certificate and letter of invitation from my friend who is a PR

Visa was approved mid January.

Entered into Toronto 2 weeks ago with my mum . Declared at POE that i intended to have a baby in Canada. Didn't indicate this in my application as i was planning to give birth in the U.S. when i applied for the Canadian visa

God was on my side, POE officer was nice and professional. Asked how much i had for the birth, communication with doctor, husband's occupation, length of stay, place of stay. He printed out a document stating my responses and that i had declared childbirth on entry. Asked me to hold on to it for future reference and applications (i think).

Mum and I were stamped in for about 90 days

Hello @seunhandsome just thought to respond to this statement you made " A bogus statement of account wont help, keep it moderate, i only have N300K in my statement of account, this appears more believable than submitting a statement of account with $30,000"

This might be your experience but doesn't apply to everyone. For most people, a balance of N300k might not show sufficient ability to afford a trip to Canada. Submitting a statement with $30k does not jeopardize your chances as long as it is in line with your bank cash flow over a period and in line with your indicated source of income. I applied with my business account which had a balance of NGN15m and turnover of NGN200m over a one year period. Any VO could see that the amount t is in line with my business and the deposits were from genuine blue chip companies. My visa was very much APPROVED.

The key is to keep it honest and consistent

Good luck everyone and thanks for all the info being shared

Hello @bamcyburg could you please share details (name, phone number or email) of the doctor in Toronto who has given you an appointment.

bamcyburg:
Good morning ☀️ house. @hotstepper & house I’ve seen another Doctor in Toronto giving us appointment by 4th of April, please should I call the doctor to email appointment letter to me or I should just write and indicate it myself that I’ve an appointment with a doctor in Toronto by 4th of April before submitting my application?

Globc:
Dear @HotStepper,

I
1. Should I state in my application that I am coming to Canada for Childbirth or just visiting? My husband has a valid US Visa.
2. My husband has more travel history than I do, so can my husband be the lead applicant although he does not intend to travel with me. I also have an 18month old child.

@Globc I know you didn't ask me but I'm responding anyway :-)

Please please apply using your husband as primary applicant seeing as he has a valid US visa. This qualifies him for CAN+ and expedited the process significantly (personal experience)

Does this apply to using a midwife at a hospital? Not for home birth.
I am a first time mother considering using midwife at a hospital as I have heard Fantastic reviews about the midwives in Canada. I've been told they are more patient, dedicate more time and are highly experienced. Hence I am considering this option as the thought of labour scares me to be honest. I need all the patience and care I can.get

I wouldn't consider any form of home birth though. So what d you think? Is using a midwife at a hospital also considered an abuse of Canadian visa? Please note that I don't mind the extra cost of possibly switching to a doctor at the hospital should things get complicated.

Hotstepper:
Thisbis also my concern that alot of ppl who used to go to the US now coming to Canada will spoil everythibg now. Please use a dr nd not midwives. if u have no more to foot ur bills, remain in naija than spoiling things for other ppl now or in the future

Hello

Is there anyone in the house who applied in November (Lagos via online route) and is yet to get any feedback after bio-metrics?

Alexfemi:
Hello guru’s I applied and did my Biometric in Abuja on 19th October, 2018.. I got a letter today that the VO is concerned that my bank statement his fraudulent. I’m told to reply in 10days before final decision is made.
How do I reply to this because my statement of account is genuine.?
do?

Wow. This is new and very surprising as I'm aware they typically confirm bank statements from the bank. Do people still use fake bank statements in this 2019?

I suggest you get your bank to print and stamp your statement and perhaps a covering letter stating the account is yours and is operational

I think some of us need to start telling ourselves the truth. While I agree that the US appears to be reducing child tourism, this discount issue is a VERY valid matter.

I contacted a hospital in the US and they sent me a self pay bill of about 5k. When I called to get confirmation that it was not discounted, the staff I spoke with at the billing department, confessed that the actual hospital bill is 21k but they make the 5k offer available for self pay patients. She also opened up to say the hospital does have a way of getting the discounted bit back from the government.

Granted, it isn't the fault of those who were ignorant of this but the US embassy is well within their rights to clamp down on this. Imagine how much taxpayers are paying yearly for self pay Obgyn patients like us. E reach to vex

Not everything is a baseless vendetta.

Meanwhile I am guessing some of us here don't realize how difficult it is for foreigners to obtain Nigerian visa or citizenship.

I was denied two weeks ago after the VO asked how much my bill from d hospital I intend using is? I answered about $10k. Now I want to reapply but this time with a different hospital though my doctor is the same and he gave me quotes for both hospital. Pls experienced folks here, do u think I will have any issue with the change of hospital in a short time? Note: my appointment letter with d doctor came after the interview with embassy and carries the location of d 2nd hospital I intend using now though I mentioned d other hospital at d first interview but doctor practices with both hospital.

Hello @obylo1. Was the $10k you quoted for just hospital bill or for hospital and doctor bill?
How much is the new hospital bills please?

Good morning house,
please I will be travelling to Atl in a week's time at 35 weeks 4days.
I need advice from the house.
is it ok for me to book wheelchair services or will it create unnecessarry attention at POE and on transit at frankfurt.

Please please book a wheelchair. You are still going to declare your intention to give birth (I hope). I say this because I have been having a bit of pelvic pain as well and yours sounds worse. Your comfort and health should be number one priority. Frankfurt airport is hugeeee. Wait time at POE can be Long.

All the best and I pray the pain gets better.

Pls can you recommend any good and affordable urologist in Lagos here?

Hello. A good urologist is Dr Omisanjo +2348066406584. I am not sure about affordability because we never got around to consulting with him.

Please please please no man should self medicate on clomid. It can irreversibly mess with a man's hormones. Doctor Emeka mentioned this to me. Consult a urologist and let him guide you. In the meantime, I totally recommend Fertilsan M for sperm issues.

May God meet us all at the point of our needs. Amen

Mamas join me in thanking God. He's a miracle worker
DH's semen analysis result received today:
Count: 69 million/ml
Motility: 60%
Morphology: 10%

In April and May, tests were carried out twice and results were:
Count: 1 million/ml
Motility: 10%
Morphology: 3%

Who says there is no God? He has stretched out His hands on us. He took Fertilisan M for about 3 months but I know this improvement is more than just drug-related. It is 100% the work of My Jehovah Over-do
