she feeds the dog dry food, milk, fish, bones, rice,indomie and chicken, how is the dog suffering?.
is that not what majority of dog owners feed their dogs?
her problem is that the dog doesn't have appetite not that she cannot feed the dog, if the dog were to eating, it would be well fed.
you had no reason to attack her.
she is not maltreating her dog in any way, she is even looking for a way to help the dog eat and you're accusing her of animal abuse smh.

her dog refused to eat dry food and rice and she's looking for a solution and you're harassing her that she's poor?

someone needs help and for no reason you're calling her poor because her dog is not doing well, she's obviously a first time dog owner and she just needs a little advice but instead you preferred to bully her because you are more experienced with dogs and you have more expensive dogs.

and you have to add the things he likes to his food to make him eat it.
mix the chicken and fish with anything you want to give him.
deworm him, and give him drugs for appetite boost(if it comes to that) he'll pick up.

since he likes fish, you can boil fish guts and mix with his bingo feed, it's really smelly and it might attract him to eat the food, same with chicken.

the reason why we're "trashing" his idea is because it's a terrible one.
you don't create a new breed by just mixing 2 random dogs together, the whole project is not a good plan and there aren't even resources or professionals involved in it.
do you expect us to applaud a bad idea because it's his "dream"?

we went outside the compound today, standing in front of the gate..
Bella was literary barking at pple that were walking pretty close to the gate.

Bella is Territorial conscious, but she needs to be more bold..and i think that's normal for a dog her age

nice to know she made a full recovery
the barking is because she's nervous, with time and more socialisation she'll be calmer and more calculating
trust me, having a nervous dog that barks and lunges at everything when it's outside the compound is not a good thing.
try to socialize her more and with time she'll be more well behaved outside

theres this supermarket (@ rumuola - for those that live in portharcourt) that was eventually shut down because of touts breaking in at night and even harassing the staff during the day


the new tenant of the building - a phone shop brought in a dog. not sure if its a presa canario or a cane corso. i had to go talk to one of the security guards to enquire about the owner of the dog

just one look at the dog (even while chained) people cross to the other side of the road. it doesn't have to bark or do anything.

the security guard told me how all the touts who come to the front of the shop to smoke have all relocated.

that's what i'm looking for.

Op I totally understand you..i have often wondered why we as Nigerians don't have our own unique Dog that is "tailored" to suit the percularity of Nigerians... the South Africans came up with the Boerboel and here we think we can't do it... we Can!!!
It's not always only about money but ideas, our ekukes are great but can they be heavy enough to guard farms ,our homes etc against criminals and intruders , sharp sense of smell to hell our bomb squads sniff out explosives, smart enough to respond to intelligent commands Against burglars who come in by breaking the roof or wall of of shops to steal?? And yet fits in our communial system as Nigerians ...

We can by bringing together stakeholders like lab scientists,vets,breeders, analytics etc together and over much testing ,crossing and work we can achieve it... come up with our own breed... the unique Nigerian Breed..

we actually already have our own breed but people don't even consider them as dogs.
even this write up you did shows how you envy the jobs those foreign breeds can do and you want to force it unto our own breed with the idea that you are improving the breed.
our local breed is meant for hunting and running and it is very good at it. they aren't guard dogs or bomb detectors, they are hunting dogs and they are still being used for that purpose till date.
if you want a dog that can detect bombs then you have to import the breed that can do that.
after all, not all the dog breeds in America or Europe originated there, they were imported from other continents and countries to do the jobs they are good at.

thirdly, alcohol isn't safe for animals and giving this little piglet alcohol just for laughs is a very wicked thing to do and it is very distasteful animal cruelty

me personally I prefer Caucasian shepherds because of their size,strength, aggression, guard instincts and independence.
also they make good family dogs, they are wonderful and friendly around family but aggressive towards strangers.
mine plays with everybody in the house and you'll never even believe he can harm anybody until he's ready to break your fingers with his chain to attack an intruder
it's my choice sha, I don't want to be biased and use my preference to make you buy a dog of my choice.(I can see someone is already suggesting pitbull as a guard dog and gsd as an "intimidating beast" )
I suggest you do your own research about guard dogs and their characteristics, that way you'll be able to pick the most suitable for you.
and also read up about them very well before buying one.

if you want an "intimidating beast" a gsd is not your best option.
it is good at barking and raising alarm but to be honest it's not the most intimidating dog.
my advice is for you to go for a rott, boerbel, cane corso or Caucasian Shepherd.
these dogs are both intimidating to look at and very good strong guard dogs.
only the barks of these dogs will make people reconsider before entering your compound again, plus if it resorts to a face-off with the intruders, these dogs can deliver deadly damage to any body that tries to harm your family.
the confidence of the dog depends on how you train them so I'd advice you to research about these breeds and how to take care of and train them before buying.

her breed should be mated at about 2years at least.
11 months is far too young and it'll affect her, please I want to see her reach her full potential don't shorten it with the stress of child birth
