akinswaggs:that's a good sign... you need to give that dog an alpha. dominant dogs like that need an alpha to control them, you need to show the dog that you're in charge. don't let him walk ahead of you during your walks, don't let him leave the gate before you and don't let him intimidate you. try to be the one to feed him as much as possible so he'll see you as his boss and start turning to you to know how to react sometimes. when the dog grows older he may start to challenge you and try to mount or snap at you sometimes so you'll feel intimidated but you have to stand your ground and don't act like you're scared of him or he'll walk all over you. try to find a put down word for him, my dog hates when people touch his snout so when he was younger I would hold his snout and tell him to "stop it" till he calms down. now if he's getting too excited and he starts loosing control and I say "stop it" or "relax" and he'll stop. |
Gprince19:when last did you deworm her? |
akinswaggs:that's exactly how my dog is have you socialized him? |
i have worked on his character and he's improved it only took more socialising and more obedience training. now he doesn't have food, fear or dog aggression he's still very aggressive and territorial he's just more organized and obedient. there is a new thing he started doing where he just attacks strangers that enter the compound without barking, he only does that when he's free, if he's in his kennel then he will raise an alarm while literally trying to claw his way to the stranger. if he's free he just attacks the person without any warning he won't even bark at the person sef ;p. now he always has to be locked up when people come around. surprisingly he is friendly with people outside the compound, he only reacts aggressively if they shout at me or move too fast towards me, he sees it as a threat and he will growl or attack depending on how you do it. he is also very friendly with the family, he is ready to play with you till you're tired, most times I can't even keep up with his energy because his legs never hesitate before they leave the ground ;p 1second he's on top you or jumping up to catch something. |
get puppy booster dry food, it's very nutritious and tasty for your dog, it is 32% protein and it costs 14,500 in pH I don't know how much it'll cost in your state ![]() |
this is from 2 weeks ago when he just clocked 6months, we were cooking meat and the smell drove him to leave his post at the gate to come and beg ![]() he's bigger than this right now
|
Lloydthesaint:I'm having an issue with his appetite right now so he's kinda skinny. the vet said he's fine that he's just tired of the food I give him I'm still trying to come up with a new feeding menu and routine.... |
akinswaggs:what's his temperament like? is he dominant and aggressive? |
akinswaggs:he's a very fine dog ![]() |
Gprince19:it's okay,as far as you leave food for her she's fine |
OsuGanja:I forgot to ask this question... that could be the cause |
akinswaggs:looks like my dog nice dog
how old? |
Lloydthesaint:better because if you free feed your puppy it may eat more than it needs, which can cause obesity or the puppy can even get tired of the food too. it's better to control what your puppy eats by taking away the food after your dog has eaten even if it hasn't finished it, once the dog abandons the food then take it away. that will give the puppy food discipline so the puppy will eat when you give it food and try it's best to eat well before you can take it away. cash is growing how old now? |
danpoly60:you said is true to an extent but gsd's aren't necessarily better guard dogs than Caucasian or rott it actually depends on what you're guarding or what you want the dog to do. a gsd will raise alarm and tackle the intruder to the ground and wait for it's master to call it off but a rott or Caucasian will attack the intruder and try to kill the person or animal while ignoring the master's commands. that's why Caucasians are used to guard livestock, farms and prisons so they can attack and kill intruders and wild animals that try to steal from the flock when the master isn't there. the owner of the dog can return to the farm at the end of the day and see the bodies of wild animals his Caucasians killed. gsd's are used to guard houses, and official places mostly in the city where the police can easily be reached or sometimes they even work with the police too. they will obey your commands and apprehend the suspect for you to give the final judgement. it depends on what you want, if you want a dog that will work with you during an invasion get a gsd,if you want a dog that will attack to kill intruders get a Caucasian or a rott. |
OsuGanja:exactly |
PMPhoenix:I get your point sha it's a common mistake, raw meat actually doesn't make dogs aggressive, aggression is either inherited or caused by factors in the dog's environment. my former dog was also fed raw fish and meat even with the blood, the dog was still the laziest dog I had ever seen till it died. the dog never barked or bit anyone, it just slept all day and it hardly ran around sef. my present dog was brought up on cooked meat and was very aggressive from the start, started barking at strangers from 4weeks. you can even check online too raw meat has been fed to different breeds of dog without any report of increased aggression over the years. |
Gprince19:try adding all those things to the dry food to make it more appetizing for her. |
Gprince19:it's best to give her dry food with good quality like diamond, royal canine, pedigree although I can't promise she'll like them. you can also give her anyone your pocket can cover she can still do well on them it's just that those one's have really good quality. you have to try to make it more appetizing for her because that's what she needs right now not indomie. what where you feeding her before? |
what have you been feeding her before? she looks really good have you tried another brand of dog food? maybe she doesn't like that particular one. at her age she should still be on puppy food or it could affect her because the growth spurts around that age are rapid and if her food isn't nutritious it could be bad for her |

PMPhoenix:your dogs became aggressive with age, raw meat didn't have anything to do with it. my dog was brought up on cooked meat till he was 5 months old and that was when I started raw feeding and there hasn't been any change in his temperament he is still as aggressive as ever. there was no difference, now I switch from raw to cooked depending on the meat I'm feeding him and he's still the same. in other countries even tiny pet dogs are fed raw meat and it doesn't do anything, it won't make your dog aggressive but maturity will....it's an old myth about meat |
. |
Lloydthesaint:just get a strong comb and use it to untangle her fur regularly, make sure you remove the detached ones before they make the new hairs tangle. do you free feed her?, if yes then I think you should stop it |
Nutase:making your dog to have fear aggression isn't going to make it a good guard dog, barking at strangers doesn't make a good guard dog too. if you put a dog that has been locked up all day under pressure the dog will fold. i fought a dog yesterday evening that was trained exactly how you advised, I was walking pass their compound and the dog attacked me, I stood my ground and didn't run away, when the dog charged I kicked it's face and it used the same speed it used to charge to run back into the compound to cry and the owner was shocked. barking can be a sign of fear it doesn't necessarily mean the dog is tough or strong |
fowlyansh181:then they were either badly trained, too young, impure or just from the wrong parents. Caucasian's are listed as one of the most aggressive dogs bruh, if they are from good bloodlines you'll see the raw aggression they usually show |
PMPhoenix:if you still believe that raw meat makes dogs aggressive in 2019 then you shouldn't be giving dog related advice |
first of all, how old are the dogs? I'm sure they're most likely puppies secondly, were you letting them play with visitors from day one expecting that one day they'll suddenly change and become aggressive? thirdly were their parents aggressive? every advice given to you on this thread is very wrong and you'll end up spoiling your dog if you listen to them. if you're ready I'll tell you how to increase the guard instincts of your dog without the torture and uninformed opinions ![]() I have a Caucasian puppy too and he's very aggressive to strangers and he's just 6 months old, I never locked him up or beat him just training. |
Tobimillar1:definitely I'm not really into gsd's so I can't really share their names but if you check well you'll find ![]() I haven't really kept a rott before sha but one thing I'm sure of is that they aren't good for first time owners... |
Tobimillar1:I got him from a breeder in pH for 80k I can share his number if you want |
