This has been the issue with africans which raises the question as to how we think as a race... It's evident that the Black man thinks towards consumption and not sustainability... Not adding any value but just thinking of today and what ever trends...no grand aspirations.. Just enjoying the menu as it comes.. I read an article about the slave trade era which made me see that in a part of Nigeria... Youths dropped farming to start kidnapping when they saw that the slavery business was booming... When it ended alot of them began to cry fowl.. Same goes to the palm kernel and gold etc... If we want to grow as a people we have to think of sustainability... Adding value to our natural resources and creating brands of it that can compete in the global stage. Else we will keep playing second fiddle... |

Politics › Re: Reasons Why Africa Should Embrace Socialism Inorder To Develop. by iamord(m): 5:53pm On Aug 21, 2016 |
Socialism should be thought of with the black man's thinking in context . that white man has been able to devise plans to utilize black to achieve a common goal.. I see us lacking in that aspect. Also It's a very dangerous thing when Socialism is in place and there is no political will and vision for the nation.. Resistance is eminent. Not to talk of the powers that be that will be fighting against if you have your game right. Like kwame nkrumah and Gaddafi... But I can see that there was sporadic development under this system. Using Ghana and libya as a car study.. We need a grand plan as a nation and continent.. Strong policies and will to back it up and and a grand scheme to let (control) the masses pivot in that direction.. Unconsciously.. But to achieve a positive conscious awakening |

LawLord001: I have been a regular visitor of this forum and I enjoy how you guys offer candid advice to members here! I decided to join to seek your advice on this very important issue.
I study law in university of Benin and I have been the one sponsoring myself. Due to financial constraint last session, I had to squat with a friend in Ekosodi(off camp). While I was there, his elder brother visited from Ghana, and spent recklessly, buying us foodstuffs, drinks etc. After he had gone, I enquire from my roommate what his brother does for a living to have so much to spend, and I was shock to know that he was into cyber scam(yahoo). Right now, UNIBEN is on break and will soon begin a new session by next month, but I have not been able to raise money to pay for my school fees and hostel accommodation which will cost up to #20,400. I chatted with my former roommate who knows about the situation. His brother called me yesterday from Guinea requesting for my account number so that he can transfer some money to me. The truth is, I have learnt my lessons about crime and I don't want to get into trouble with the law. But some poeple I spoke to are advising me to just send my account number to him since I really need the money, but something in me is finding it difficult knowing that my roommte's brother is into scam. He has been calling me today obviously wanting me to send my account number! I'm just confuse right now. Pls what do you guys think I should do?
Cc: fynestboi lol . you like the honey but you are afraid of the bees. Calm waters never made a skillful sailor..well if you want to be in the safe side.. Ask in what firm the money is coming and where. Better still his bro can give it to u. |

Foreign Affairs › Ghana To Dump Gas Supply Arrangement With Nigeria by iamord(op): 11:04pm On Aug 11, 2016 |
Indications have emerged that Ghana may soon free itself from erratic gas supply from Nigeria as the country is working towards being self sufficient in gas.
Gas supply from Nigeria has, since August 2012, not been regular due to factors, including natural causes, industrial actions and Ghana’s indebtedness of more than $80 million to N-Gas, a Nigerian gas company. The erratic supply of gas from Nigeria has affected electricity supply to homes and industries locally over the years. Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister of Petroleum of Ghana at a mid-year review meeting with heads of agencies under the Ministry of Petroleum, said that plans were far advanced for Ghana to be self-sufficient in gas supply. For instance, he said, gas supply from the Jubilee oilfields to the gas plant at Atuabo had resumed, while Ghana Gas and Tullow Oil Ghana Limited and its partners were finalising an agreement for the tying of gas pipelines from the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project to the Atuabo gas plant. The TEN project, which will produce its first oil on August 18, 2016, will begin the production of gas in the first quarter of 2018. Moreover, work on the onshore gas reception facility for the ENI integrated Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project at Sanzule in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region was also on course, he said. The facility, which has the capacity to produce 180 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d), sufficient to generate about 1,000 megawatts (MW) of power, comes with additional oil production of about 45,000 barrels per day. The US$7.9-billion investment project will ensure reliability of power generation to feed industry and commerce. The ENI and its partners are hoping to pour the first oil in August 2017 and first gas in February 2018. Additionally, plans are advanced for the expansion of Ghana’s gas infrastructure. The Minister of Petroleum said Ghana had learnt its lessons from the challenges faced with the supply of gas from Nigeria. He was reluctant to state the quantum of Ghana’s indebtedness to N-Gas but stated that the Ministry of Finance had worked out a payment plan which had been agreed on by the parties. Mr Buah said metering regulations had been laid before Parliament, adding that there was progress with regulations on health, safety and the environment. He said all those measures were aimed at strengthening the Petroleum Commission to be the police in the oil and gas industry. Local content issues and their implementation aimed at ensuring that Ghanaian companies are at the forefront of the industry were also discussed during the meeting. http://pzimedia.com/energy/Ghana-Gas-Provision-Ghana-To-Dump-Gas-Supply-Arrangement-With-Nigeria-67162.html/ |
