I had savings in place, plus support from sponsor.
I'm talking about the initial deposit to be made here in Nigeria.
As I've come across lots of UK schools in the region of £1.5k - £3k...And I've got my financial plan/budget within that range...that's what I meant.

Some schools with lower deposit may still require that you even pay up to 50% of your fees before you resume classes unlike Teesside, so check the school fees clauses well before you apply and pay to a school

@justwise mine is similar to this but it's for 2years, 7500 for the first year and 7500 for the second year, I will be paying 4000 bfr leaving Nigeria and there is 1500 scholarship for me so the remaining balance is 2k pounds, and the remaining 7500 for the next year,is it possible to be able to pay it with the 20hrs a week given for students. Please answer this @ justwise

There are student breaks in between which you could work full time.
Check your academic calendar.

Hello Folks,
Please I need all the advice I can get so I don't make a costly mistake.

I recently secured an admission in Teesside University, Middlesbrough, UK.(Data Science and Analytics)..

The tuition fee I'm to pay is approximately £15k ( over 4 or 5 instalments).

Now my question is:
What are the prospects of me being able to raise this sum of money from side jobs I'd take up, considering the limited work hours permit for student visas. (£15k looks like a lot of money and I'd overstretch myself to meet up with payment).

My bro has been advising me to ignore the admission and apply to US schools next year and see if I can secure admission on scholarship ( He's currently schooling on scholarship)...

He says trying to meet up with the £15k tuition payment would wear me out and drastically affect my performance at school, which makes no sense in the long run.

Please House, what do you think?? Are there chances of raising such funds within the 1year period

Well, you have to consider your options,
Are you for September or January
If for January, there’s a long study break between May to September, which you would be entitled to work full time and make some better wages.
If it’s a 2year programme, same thing applies.
You just have to confirm your academic calendar.
However, you should have some money saved to cover your deposit and at least first installment with some upkeep money handy..
If you’re very sure of getting the US scholarship, it’s a better option though

Thanks alot for the reply. You are right because it's been more than 2 weeks I filled form A and the money is yet to be debited from my account. In a situation whereby I have no one in the UK to make the deposit kindly let me know of another option. Thank you

Cancel the application, withdraw your money, go to titan trust bank or uba, open an account with them, get the form A and pay through them

Merit Scholarship is £1000

Usually for internal school scholarships, you can’t use two of their scholarships at a go.
They pick the higher amount for you. You are only entitled to one school scholarship.

My main challenge is that most of the universities offering good deals in terms of tuition for Social Work do not have a Jan 2022 start date.

I had to send a mail to university of Wolverhampton and they confirmed it as well. I'm a 2.1 student, so no shaking at all. I just want very affordable tuition fees jare...


You would need to research the following the streamline your choices.

1. Which universities take international students for the program. Not all do
2. Entry requirements. Some accept only first class or 2.1 graduates.
3. Which will take graduates from ANY program. Your first degree does not matter
4. Which you can make direct applications to and those you have to go through UCAS. There is a fee for applying through UCAS.
5. Those that require you do both written and oral interviews or those that do only oral. Either way there is an interview as part of the admission process (Not CAS interview)

Narrow this then decide. Below is for Wolverhampton (2.1 required)

Applied to 4 different universities for Msc Fintech in February; Got admission in 3
I chose University of Gloucestershire because of the placement attached to the course.
Got an unconditional offer from the same uni after fulfilling the required condition (English language requirement)

I paid a deposit of £3,300 in March.

Did TB test in May together with my family (Mum, Dad and Two children)

Started counting my POF from 4th June to 2 July 2021

Applied for all 4 on 6th/7th July 2021. (Priority)
Did biometrics on 8th July 2021 at TLS V I. ( I got a date for 8th for myself and did walk in for 3)

Got two mails from UKVI on 9th; (a) To scan my TB test to an email cos they couldnt see my test rest. (b) The generic not straight forward email.

All the while, i was tracking our application on the TLS site. Got a collection mail on 14th July 2021, went there today and all 4 passports had the 90 days vig. (Visas approved).

Thank you for the great insights shared on this thread. It was indeed helpful. I am open to questions. May those waiting be wowed too. Amen. Selah!

While seeking admission to Teesside University, I uploaded my statement of Result in placement of Certificate and was given an unconditional offer.
I understand that it’s usually the documents that’s written on the offer letter that would be requested for during the Visa Application.

I’ll like to know if any one has used statement of Result in place of Certificate and was granted Visa

Yeah, I know that, I mentioned that in respect to staying in another place rather than your school location during quarantine, which I also mentioned being “tentative” because I’m not sure how it works,
I never mentioned getting your brp during quarantine period

Like if your school is Teesside, can you quarantine in their hostel or with a friend in say, Coventry?

For hostel, not sure about that because except you’ll be ordering food daily, you’re not allowed to mingle or go out much except on your test days..
As for Coventry, don’t really know about that though

Don’t really know UK and their protocols work
Best bet is stay within your university location and where you’ll keep up your biometric card or whatever they call that permit
