how much is it and which bank manager make such amount after such expense in Nigeria....oga go rest no get time pls
You need exposure to cure this your poverty and scarcity mentality.
Managers are well paid and I don't need to argue about it. It's a fact

Depends on the pay and future oriented goals pertaining to himself and kids.

Average Bank manager salary in Nigeria: N11,000,000/ annum.
Average skyscraper salary in UK: £27,304/annum. Or N30,000,000 to N35,000,000

Do the maths.
Did you conjure this "manager salary" out of thin air or you did an actual survey ?

I laugh when I see how people throw around figures just to demean banking job in Nigeria and hype a cleaner job in UK

Go and do an actual survey of what banks pay and you will withdraw this your analysis

Japa is for someone who has no hope of geting job in Nigeria is an overly wrong assertion in all ramification. We import virtually all and naira keeps depreciating against the dollar hence with job, most Nigerian still suffer lack of access to basic amenities, daily dwindling capacity of people financially. No good road, poor light, poor infrastructure, poor poor and poor access to anything good yet you said who has job will not japa which means they love to stay in a doomed economy? Kindky explain.
You think dangote, otedola and co love to stay in "doomed economy"?

Think again bro

@Fredfr33zy

You people in Nigeria always thinking most professionals abroad cannot save or are not living comfortable lives. Is it bacause of the house slaves you have, that you have this thinking.

Situations differ, but make no mistake its a big financial advantage not to pay primary school to secondary school fees for your kids.

Also, health care, good governance.... stability of currency.

Currency is a store of wealth, the Nigerian mismanagement is making a lot of people poor ---- Una never sit down calculate well.
You skip primary and secondary school fees if you send your kid to public schools only to pay a tone of money to see him through university, then spend the rest of your life paying off your mortgage and non stop bills.

A rich man is better off living in Nigeria. That is why all your rich men and politicians do not relocate abroad

No I'm not blind. How much is 700 dollars in naira compared to a manager's salary in Nigeria?

You obviously know nothing about banking in Nigeria if you are celebrating 700 dollars per month as good pay

What I am doesn not matter. You said HMO is dead and just wanted to correct that impression that it's not dead.

HMO has paid medicals bills of more 700k for me at once. I didn't pay one kobo. And that is just one instance

Let's stop making exergerated statements to paint the country's situation worse than it is

Please let's focus on the main post: a so-called bank manager is working as a skyscraper cleaner in the UK

You alluded that because a cleaner can save 20 million while working in the UK, then he is better off than a bank manager in Nigeria. I said that is false as you are comparing a bank manager in Nigeria to a cleaner in the UK. That is not the appropriate way to compare. Should the bank manager want to relocate to the same UK, he would aim to be at the same position as he was in Nigeria. Getting an MBA is one way, and he would aim at the top ones. Remember he was a bank manager in Nigeria. LBS is the number one MBA school in the UK.

I maintain my stance that judging using PPP metric, a bank manager in Nigeria lives a better life than a cleaner in the UK. I would not even compare them as it does not make sense. I compare like for like: bank manager in Nigeria to bank manager in the UK.
God bless you bro! Glad to see a few people that are not part of the groupthink going on here

Are you a banker?
Have you ever been a manager to a bank in your entire existence here on planet earth?
Are you psychic?
Do you read people's minds, face what they face and feel what they feel?

If the answer to all question above is no, then please by all means get lost.
No be fight abeg

I maintain what I said. If you don't agree go do your findings. An entry level staff can be made a "branch manager" depending on the location but "Bank Manager" is a grade and I maintain that people in MANAGER GRADE in Nigeria banks earn far far more than whatever this your skyscraper will earn. It's not even comparable in terms of pay, perks,. Prestige etc

I'm telling you what I know but you are free to disagree. It's a free world yo!

I'm only here because of you. And I totally disagree with your comment.

Even as a restaurant cook in the USA, I enjoyed a higher standard of living than a Nigerian bank manager of with say, 2 or 3 years in that job. I know because I knew a couple of branch managers in Aba and Owerri and another good friend while not a branch manager is almost there after 15 years experience.

Today nko? With the massive inflation and general anomie, even nyash cleaner in USA here lives better than a bank manager in Nigeria.

Good Luck to Nigerians.
In Nigeria banks, you have "Branch Manager" as job designation- meaning the administrative head of a branch

Then you have "Manager" as a grade with its perks and packages.

Note that you can become a branch manager even before you attain the manager grade. So this your Aba/Owerri branch manager, what is his banking grade?

I just want to be sure that you understand the difference cos it's obvious that people in the comment section do not understand shit about banking at all

You sound pained and frustrated.
Do you work in the bank?
No he doesn't sound pained.

What I see is most people talking down on banking just to rationalize the cleaner job in the name of "he now earns better" which is laughable.

It shows that you know nothing about banking.

No manager in Nigeria will willingly resign to go clean skyscraper abroad. If you doubt me do your own research

even if na shit he de pack, compare how much he makes over there, this people earn nothing less that 2kdolls or more, now expenses d tax might be 1.2k or 1.3k dolls if living single, now who save 700 dolls monthly will he b able to save that as a bank manager in Nigeria, 700 almost 1.somtin Milla fr naija...Nigeria are judgemental but don't check de benefits or such look down jobs in abroad...if na shit as long money involved do it
You see the problem with this your mentality is that you are always converting dollar/pounds to naira in your head.

My simple question: do you pay your bills in naira or dollars?

Fortunately, he's earning more. Though, a more physical job.
2 of my friends too.
1 a bank manager too, in a major location, is doing care job. Currently earns more than he ever did as a bank worker and has more access to a soft life.

The 2nd one worked for an international organization. Big boy life in Naija. Now a factory worker but actually earns more than he ever did. Kids education is more quality than what he was getting in Nigeria, even with the high school fees he was paying. 400k/kid.
As long as they're coping, God speed
What do you mean by "earn more"? Does he pay his bills in dollars or naira?

How long will he need to work that factory job to pay off a home mortgage?

The question you should be asking is how much does a bank manager earn in Nigeria?

If you must know, no bank in Nigeria pays their branch managers up to N1m. On an average, they earn between 500-600k. (That's about $600 not pounds o)

A skyscraper window cleaner in the UK earns about £23,000. With that amount, you can live comfortably in the UK.

Aside the risks involved in the job, I won't say he made a bad choice.
This is pure ignorance speaking.

Banking remains one of the highest paying job in Nigeria today.

You need to change your circle of friends
