How can someone be comparing Mercedes M111 and M112 engines with plastic corolla engine.

Whoever brought the idea to manufacture M111, M112 and others will have a special place in heaven.

The Benzedes may need engine replacement every few years that's why it's cheap but long after the Corolla body has mangled, disfigured and gone out of trend and the owner no longer knows what to do with it, the engine will still be bought by boat makers and factory operators to power their machines. Nobody really wants to change Corolla engine that's why its more expensive.

What should you be on the look out for?

* Please test drive the ride. Drive it enough to experience gear changes from 1 - 3. It's important.

* Watch the temperature gauge. You want the gauge to be at 90 - 95oC and the fan should pick up at this instance. The temperature rise should be swift too.

* When you power on the car, you DON'T want your fan to start immediately. If it does, then that's a red flag. The thermostat and coolant temperature sensor might have been disconnected, the engine must have been ran cold for as long as the seller has had it in Nigeria. There might be engine issues ahead.

* Test drive on rough roads to know how much you will incur on shocks and wishbones.

* Make sure you arrive when engine is cold, so you know if the seller has a defective MAF by being on the look out for the tachometer fluctuating rapidly b4 stabilizing.

* While test driving, watch the fuel gauge and check if it flunctuates. If it does then you will deal with a defective fuel sender unit later on.

* Check and make sure all dash lights are functional, all window controls too etc. Check for oil leaks. 4 cylinders can leak oil.

Some of these points will help you bargain a lower price, while some are pointers that you shouldn't buy it.

You can post the pics here....cos I think there are very few W202's that still look pristine in Nigeria.

If you buy a badly used mercedes,forget it.
You will spend purchase money in keeping the relic on the road.
I advise people not to buy used cars at all if possible,especially Nigeria used.

Please I need help and advice from the experience users and experts here concerning my C240 2003/2004 model.
The cooling fan is always running on high speed and making a loud sound whenever I on AC. If AC is off it runs silent and normal but the moment I on AC the fan will start running at a higher speed and keep on like that continuously and you can pick up the sound of the fan from some meters away and even in the cabin as you drive. And the AC is working perfect and chilling but the sound is making me not enjoy my AC in peace��
I was told is a common problem with that model and year but no one seems to know the solution among those I have come across.
Please any suggestion on how to go about solving this issue is welcome. God bless you all. �

Blablabla...boy, you have a lot of growing to do! I know that you are Japanese lover, we all felt like that when we had our first ride ! It is natural! Don't worry you would grow up and transcend and know that there is more to car than taking you from point A to point B, then you will start looking for performance , luxury and safety...

But for now, it's quite understandable, you can bask in your my Japanese is the best! I had that mentality until I drove a BMW and Benz and saw the difference!

You would grow up! Trust me, it's just stages in life ! But you will grow up !

The c 230 k is a fantastic ride. It has its issues as every car does. I have owned one and have no regrets. Very fast and good fuel economy. Major issue is the engine does not tolerate heat, make sure u check for leaks as this will easily make car overheat. Once u on top of that, not much to bother about. It's a fun car, U'll enjoy it. M272 engine with engine no. Starting from 30 468993 does not have the balance shaft problem, one can easily check the engine number using mercedes vin check online with the vehicle vin no.
C230 2007, c280,c300, c350,E350 e.t.c all use m272 engines
Most of the balance shaft problem are in 2005 and 2006 models and usually happens around 90k to 110kmiles so most cars in Nigeria with miles above 110kmiles the problem might have been solved before it reaches Nigeria.

the 2007 model balance shaft issue was resolved by mecerdez benz starting from 2007 model release from October 2006. There is a range of engine number which the balance shaft issue was corrected.
