I told you before that I like you and I still do. This post just shows that with a plan you can do well and achieve success. Without a plan, premium tears and suffer head is only downloading for people who fail to plan.

Just last week I learnt about my classmate's parents who were very involved in her life and her siblings lives too (involved not only in terms of education but all aspects of their lives)

The parents had a plan for each child which was - you must go to school in Naija, after you graduate from Uni, you proceed to the UK for Masters, after Masters you must get a job then after you get a job, we hands off and get involved in your life again when you present your potential spouse.

That plan was executed to the letter with each child, from the first to last. Today, all four children are thriving in their lives/homes. These days I see people getting married and birthing children with no plan, especially from my home town. Then they start taxing their community of family and friends to help them pay their bills.

A well paying job is actually quite relative as what is well paying for me may be low paying for Cuppy Otedola and be a stuff of dreams for Jinadu, the bricklayer apprentice!

I'd rather consider a side definition of a well paying job as any one with a salary range that can get you out of poverty and into the lower middle income bracket. Now, we must consider 3 additional items herr:; location, marital status & social condition. I make a small assumption here to accommodate the items above - 35yrs old male, based in low end of Lagos, married with 2 young kids, not very social and quite churchy. Let's go.

Your main lines of expenses, as a family unit, will be:

Accommodation (Rent) - N400k
Food & Groceries - N380k
Educational fees - N520k
Subscriptions (data, tv, etc) - N210k
Fuel (car & generator) - N290k
General purchases - N500k
Medical care - N220k
Replacement & Repairs - N150k
Entertainment - N50k
Give aways (family etc) - N50k
Tithe, Offerings, Zakat etc. - N170k
Miscellaneous - N100k
Long term savings - 100k
Short term savings - 40k

TOTAL - N3,180,000.00 (three million, one hundred and eighty thousand naira only).

The above is all the family requires for a year to live a fairly decent lower middle income life above poverty rate in Lagos boroughs like Iju, Ipaja, Epe, etc.

If only the man works, a net monthly salary of N270k should serve them. If both parents work, anything above N130k each should do. From this point on, the availability of career growth with possibility of income rise will make the job resemble something you can call a well paying job.

Yoruba Muslim should stop marrying many wives and plenty children in most cases when they are not exceptionally rich. They should stop hiding under canopy of they are capable and can equally take care of wives and children. 80% of ritual killing cases and touts are from them even though Islam teaching forbids it, but honestly; by the time most of their children grow up; some of their children become wayward and frustrated in life to the extent of going into ritual killings and touts due to extreme poverty.

Only responsibility some of the average and poor Muslim parents do is to give birth, spend money to do naming ceremony, but once the child grows up and responsibility begins most of the children are abandoned to their mothers that may even be jobless; it is another reason why many run away muslim children end up as conductors and touts when their christian children counterparts are in schools. It is similar reason why Boko Haram and bandits are able to recruit many abandoned and alimonjere children in the north because their poor muslim parents with many jobless wives can't cater for their financial and moral need as they grow up.

Today's pride of having many children can become tomorrow's nightmare if they are not properly taken care of. Something should be done by government to limit number of children you must give birth to even if you have multiple wives and financial status of such parents must be examined by government before granting that permission to give birth to certain children to avoid future millitancy and banditry in Yoruba land
