It goes beyond tribalism, I think it's the fear of losing petrodollars and the threat of what they(igbos) will become if given the chance to manage their resources and develop at their own pace.

But for me all these can be sorted out through dialogue.
m

The same people that abandon their ancestral land for their enemy's own? They cannot use the so called creativity to create development and advancement in their own land but bent on developing Yorubaland? Tell me another thing Jare.

The vast majority of you are going abroad to face a different kind of frustration. Abroad will work for some but not all of you (in the long run).

The only solution is to change this country. 90% of our youths will not achieve their goals and dreams in life because our fore bearers have created and left nothing. Once big often ignored solution is to stop procreation until the vast problems confronting us are solved.

Even the ones in Akure, Ibadan and Ilorin are thriving, not to mention the numerous outlets in Lagos.
I always tell Nigerians, Igbos are more into informal and unregistered economy. Any attempt to bring regulation, formalisation and order to any Igbo dominated venture or towns , and only two things can happen:

*- Such effort will fail woefully, and they will continue with their "wuruwuru"/clandestine trading style.
*- The so called rich businessman will suddenly become poorer than a church rat.
So TRUE!!!! People that failed to develop a governance system, no history, no kingdom, no sign whatsoever of a ancient civilization. Abegi!

This is a step in the right direction, afterwards, there should be six regions with Lagos & Abuja making it eight regional federating units. Lagos will never be part of the SW except there is balkanization, until then, it will remain a no mans land with a presiding minister just like Abuja. It seems like the restructuring we all are clamouring for, has just started!
Fools paradise and pie in the sky comes to mind. It should bother you that nothing worthwhile or useful to this country comes from the East.

We are turning a corner on this Igbo issue and slowly but surely we will prevail. We have some work to do before that open hostility start. We have to put the propaganda out first so that our people's mind are made up and permanently set again Igbos living in out territory. Go home bro, your land is waiting for you! Two issues I have with your post.

1) Igbo guys are NOT guests in any part of Nigeria. We are all Nigerians and we should coexist in peace.
There are traditional institutions here tho, and everybody should respect it, but there is no such thing as "guest" and "host" for citizens of the same country.
That mindset is wrong.

2)Lagos is NOT the only place the Igbo have thrived "more than Every where else" according to you.
The Igbo are thriving everywhere. Have you been to Kano? Kaduna? Onitsha? Even Uyo?
It's people who don't travel much that makes comnents like that.

That said, let us respect each other in this country and enjoy ourselves here, because at the end of the day, na the same 6 ft all of us dey go.

peace.
Your FLY dey follow dead body enter grave. Look Mr man the hornets nest have been stirred. This is the beginning, the next phase will come sooner and before you know it open hostility. Igbo running to lagos and thriving there don get k-leg now. The situation will only slowly escalate to open hostility. The economic condition will not help. Nigeria will be reset forever. Igbo people please please go and develop your land and stay there!!!!

I gave you an assignment, ask any Igbo trying to get a CofO in Lagos if he can.
Not only did these uncultured animals insulted his majesty Oba of Lagos, they went as far as inviting GEJ to visit 'Igbo Lagos' with their useless EZes running all over the place welcoming the Ineffectual Buffon to their 'Igbo Lagos'

I tell you I will volunteer myself to the necessary job of forcefully repatriating these cultureless horrid anti social people out of our land. Those who are married to Yoruba people can stay if they so wish.

Some of you lot are just pathetic.
Foolish man! Did Ambode complain about Yoruba people? Did the Oba of Lagos complain about Yoruba people from any part of Yoruba land? Did he invite other chiefs from Yoruba land and insulted and humiliated them? Did Ambode asked Yoruba people to pack and go home?

Foolish man, go and reconnect with your land and your ancestors. This is just the beginning. You can't come here as economic refugee and migrant, and doing anyhow. Yoruba youths are going to wake up by fire by force....it is coming surely.

Hausa people building homes in Lagos /Abuja, or the Yoruba guys that have refused to leave the North nko.

Every time they are on Igbo people's case like as if they are the only ethnic group in Lagos.
Many of the Yoruba guys themselves are foreigners here too, as they are not from Lagos state.
Ok back your claim with fact. Where are the Yorubas refusing to leave the North. Tell me something please, what is so bad in Igboland that Igbo people hate so much? You are a laughing stock across Nigeria. All tribes loves their ancestral homes but you people hate your place with a passion.

The next things All Igbo street names will be changed to Yoruba names. Just watch. Haba you are no longer migrating to Lagos but you are invading it. Yeye!

It is mentality like this that does not let the black man progress. Always clannish and claiming my land, my land.
The western Europeans are not like that, and that is why they are the most advanced people on earth today, and that is why their cousins could also cross the Atlantic and replicate their success in the building of the U.S. and Canada.

Black man is too clannish and it's very bad.
Instead of us to live and let live, coexist in peace without bringing up this indigene vs settler thing, we are always fighting for cheap superiority, instead of joining hands together to uplift ourself as the black race, just as other races are doing.

Something must be seriously wrong with the black man, and till we identify what is wrong with us and address it, we would continue to be the laughing stock of the world.

A Norweigian man will migrate to Australia and blend in without prejudice, a French man will migrate to the United States and blend in with the umbrella "white" but for black man, a Nigerian will move to Ghana and it is wahala, an Igbo man will move to Lagos and would not have peace of mind, a South African will rather kill his fellow black man (Nigerian, Congolese etc) than scratch a white south African who has oppressed him for centuries.

Who will save the black man?
Who will reorientate him.
If the black man is in his right senses, articles like these (OP) will not be necessary.
If he is in his right frame of mind, he will know that we should make the best out of this life, because he came naked and will die naked.

Articles like these, and the comments I read from black men are just disheartening.
Shut up and stop showing off your idiocy. GO AND DEVELOP your IGBOLAND!!! Caused phucking people. We don't want you on our land anymore.

This write up is flawed on many fronts...

First of all, if this writer has travelled across Nigeria, he will find out too that other ethnic groups have settled en masse in other parts of Nigeria too, and their descendants don't know the road back to their hometown.
A visit to Kamo, Kaduna, Jos and other cities will show you just that. How Yoruba people and other tribes indeed live in there cities across Nigeria, feel more at home there, and the descendants don't know the road home.

Second, about the east not being investment friendly/backwards, if that was the case, the Chinese would not be trooping down there, and Cities like Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba and Enugu will not be thriving cities.
Infabt, the biggest market in West Africa is in Igboland, so what are we saying?
Useless lies. Whether Igbo like it or not Yoruba land is not and will never be your HOME. This is just the beginning. I don't know of any land owned by 2 people at the same time. Empty pompous things.

you should be ashamed of yourself for the fact that you sat down lazily and allow foreigners develop and take over your land. LAGOS is not the land of Igbos yet you uphold the Nigerian constitution and free rights of legal acquisition and ownership of properties. Most of you just comment without wearing your thinking cap. Did Igbos acquire their properties in South West through force and coercion? Tell me one and prove me wrong. Indirectly you are telling me dat America and Chinese people who go world over investing and dominating are fools. Modern world is a world of competition, strive for the best and stop hating the Igbos. Every Nigerian has a right to legally acquire and own movable and immovable properties in any part of Nigeria.

One thing I guarantee you is dat Igbos left their properties in other parts of Nigeria after the war in the 60s, dat will neva happen in 21st century. The destruction in Syria will be a child's play compared to what LAGOS will look like. I believe in one Nigeria, so please sheat ur sword of hatred and let's live in constitutional harmony.
Before Lagos turns to Aleppo in Syria you can be rest assured none of your wives, children and relatives would make it to the East breathing. Nobody on this earth wants to die but when war arrives its game on.

What Mess did GEJ leave Nigeria in

APC only tells u there is a mess whereas there is no mess. They feed your brain with lies and u foolishly believe them.

The economy was stronger and better under GEJ.
Our currency was not this worth less
Food was cheap and the poor could eat.
Foreign investors flooded Nigeria and many Jobs were created
There was freedom of information and freedom of speech.
There was rule of law and court order was obeyed.
Agriculture flourished.
Automobile industry resurrected
Railway was reborn
Insecurity was only in the North east...
Small business were encouraged and big businesses like dangote expanded
PH and calabar sea port were upgraded and opened.
Airports Nation wide were upgraded and re equiped
New airlines were licensed to operate local and international flights.
There was diversification and our Exports grew...
No one starved to death in idp camps..Jonathan fed them all very well.

Nigerians were happier under GEJ and life expectancy was longer,

GEJ's only crime is dat arms fund was used to fund Elections and some of his trusted friends loothed under his nose.....

Despite he inhirited only $3b He saved $30b and handed over to buhari.

So what mess did he put Nigeria in?

APC and Buhari put us in today's mess not GEJ
Listen to this empty headed Ibo villager! So Buhari came into government and set about causing all these problems?

Nigeria has very little dollar available in its reserves, oil price is down, we don't produce ANYTHING to export, we do not even produce enough food for our population, we only have sex and produce millions of children we cannot even feed.

Please use your head when criticising government. You are likely to be Ibo. Your country has gone BURST!

Or by devaluing the Naira at will, with oil @ $65/barrel then?

He has probably put in more work

My grouse with him is, he and his crew seems to be only good at reactionary policies, rather than proactive policies, while still trying to shield their benefactors.

As regards his relationship with Buhari, he should resign if he thinks 'his good name' is at stake . . . LoL.
Yeah! Ignorant Nigerian people. Screaming and shouting "policy" "policy" "economic team" blah blah blah!!! Idiots, we do not produce ANYTHING. Even common rice (basic food) to eat and give our children we do not produce. We have NOTHING to export!!! Nothing!!! We cannot even process the OIL we found under our soil.

If you like assemble all the PHDs in the world, that will not transform to dollar and national wealth. We have to stop consuming the things we cannot produce.
