It will take more than press releases to tackle the issue of insecurity. This crop of leaders are more concerned with lining their pockets and are utterly clueless, estranged from the realities of life.

When people living abroad vow never to go back to Nigeria, I refuse to blame them because of these.
Twice to one family is too much. I can understand going to war and dying for your country but being slaughtered due to the ineptitude of your country's leaders is a whole lot of waste.
I love my country no dey this one. Its like opening your eyes in soapy waters as the proverb goes.

Updates:

These are the Top Nigerian New pages on Facebook for the week.

As said earlier, having millions of fans does not always translate to engagement - especially if you don't post anything daily.
However some of the above pages have fans going to their website directly for news instead of the Facebook page.

GossipMill Nigeria continues to rock. on Average, they were mentioned about 1.2 million times (popularity) on Facebook this week. The secret, I guess, is because they post regularly. They posted a minimum of 72 times this week alone.

However, at any one time, only about 7 thousand people engaged with (reacted) to those posts. That is pretty huge if you ask me.

Business / Does Market Research Still Work In Nigeria? by IBEXY(m): 8:33pm On Jun 05, 2018
I was parlaying a market research idea to a friend the other day and his response was that no one cares about the truth in Nigeria.

His case point was the Presidential "approval ratings" is "rigged" because its not really based on actual user responses. I drew his attention to product research which, in my opinion, should be a priority for any manufacturer out there.

My argument was that every company at least wants to know what people actually think about their products. In this instance, at least, actual data from real people is important.

Are there any market research professionals here? Are my assertions correct? Do companies still conduct market research in Nigeria?

Celebrities / P-square Continues To Be Top Nigerian Musician Facebook Page by IBEXY(m): 12:01pm On Jun 03, 2018
The proof is in the pudding, as they say, PSquare are still the kings when it comes to Facebook.
The list below was compiled by the website: Fameplex - if you add dot com, na you sabi.

Having a large fan base does not always translate to engagement or popularity - meaning, you may show 1 million fans but only 100 visit the page regularly!

Popularity among your fans is another important metric. You may have 1 million fans but on a daily basis, how many of those fans mention your brand name on Facebook?

WizKid has not done badly in the last one week - as seen here. He was mentioned like 42,000 times. Davido follows closely with 37,000.

Now compare that to the Fans kings (PSquare). They only got mentioned 4,500 times despite having over 5 million fans. Even Koko master (Dbanj) did better than them on popularity.

Take a look at the engagement figure as well, this is the number of people commenting or reacting to your posts. I suppose PSquare is loosing here because they have not posted a thing for ages on Facebook.

Is PSquare disappearing before our very eyes?

Religion / Re: Can Souls In Hell Be Forgiven, Saved And Still Go To Heaven? by IBEXY(m): 4:30pm On Oct 02, 2016
MrsPhyno:

sin is a sin but the action of sin isn't actually what keeps you out of heaven. If in a hypothetical situation, you managed to never sin in your life, but you still didn't accept Jesus as your savior, you wouldn't go to heaven. Hope you get my point now.
There goes another issue. Even when I keep my nose clean, I still end up in hell. Even if am a 1 year old child who died in a war zone? Or a child who stole a tiny candy bar.
This reasoning is human and is fundamentally flawed and goes against everything that makes the world a beautiful place - diversity.
Diversity in opinion. Diversity is species. Even God made different animals and gave us the gift of having our personal opinions and the capacity to reason.
Only 31.50% of the world population is Christians: ie people who believe in Jesus. You mean to say billions of people represented by the remaining 68.5% will go to hell? Damn! Hell must have lots of accommodation space.

MrsPhyno:
lol that's right, I'm a human and I'm telling you my interpretation of God's word. What do you think Pastors are for? In order for me to even believe in something I have to have a personal philosophy, otherwise it's just letters in a book.
This is another issue. We dare not question the word of God - even though the Bible has gone through several editions - manipulated by corrupt people to their own selfish end. People's interpretation has so polluted simple reasoning to the extent that even a five year old will know this whole thing does not make sense.

MrsPhyno:
You're going into inanity now sir.... No one mentioned any councils or elders.
Though that was intended as a pun. I can tell you there was really a council of elders who decided what books will be in the bible and what portions they needed to edit to suite their own selfish ends. Google it -Google it: "Council of Nicaea". Then Google the emperor Constantine - what a wonderful man he was. smiley

MrsPhyno:
How many times do I have to say it's not about the sin per se. I even inserted a sermons worth of Bible verses to back it up.
Would you accept my facts if I quoted the Koran? I bet you will not. Only the bible is the truth. smiley

MrsPhyno:

Also, doesn't make any sense for you to equate an adults actions to a child's when you just said their minds are not mature enough to know right from wrong.
Stealing is sin right? If one dies while remaining in sin, they head straight for hell. Is that not what Christianity preaches? If by your analogy God will consider the age of the child and spare him, then he must be sending the grown man to hell? Otherwise the process is not justice - its biased.

MrsPhyno:
I am yet to know of the religion, or even the secular governing body that says that the actions of a child = that of an adult.
I thought sin is sin? I needed to know how God would treat a child that stole a candy bar You still have not told me. Maybe he has a cooler part of hell for kids smiley

MrsPhyno:
Children commit actual crimes and in the court of law even get lighter/different punishments than adults for the same crimes almost completely. Why are their juvenile prisons? Even for children that are very near adulthood like 15,16,17; not to talk of for 6 and 8 year olds. We don't "punish" children in the same way we do adults. God likewise is like that, from what I've read in the Bible.

At least we are better than God. Humans know the difference between children and adults. I still think this is you trying to rationalize things. Who told you hell has a juvenile section? smiley

MrsPhyno:
We don't "punish" children in the same way we do adults. God likewise is like that, from what I've read in the Bible.

Who told you God segregates adults from children? Have you not read about Sodom and Gomorrah plus other places conquered by men supposedly under God's influence. Have you not read where he told them to kill everyone: Women, children, animals? Have you not read how he visits sins upon children up to many generations?

MrsPhyno:
Are u here to argue that that is somehow not right?

Absolutely not. Am here to ask if a child who stole a candy bar will go to hell. You have not answered me. Instead you are telling me how we as humans treat child and adult criminals. It appears humans are much more compassionate than God from all your analogy.

MrsPhyno:
If anything, that is more fair cause it takes into account the fundamental difference between being a child and being an adult. Anyone who feels otherwise is a bit looney, I think.
Are you calling God looney? If your theory about giving special considerations to kids does not exist in the bible, then you must mean God is bonkers? or he is outright mean?
Religion / Re: Can Souls In Hell Be Forgiven, Saved And Still Go To Heaven? by IBEXY(m): 12:55pm On Oct 02, 2016
MrsPhyno:

First of all, you're looking at the concept of hell all wrong. According my philosophy which I believe is based on the Bible, people don't go to hell based off the gravity or amount of their sinful acts. So I have to tell u that there will even be some "hardened criminals" I presume, in heaven.
I doubt if my point was the gravity but the fact that someone committed a "theft". You missed the point. It was about if a child will be "punished" even though his mind had not matured enough to know right from wrong. The rest of your post was you trying to rationalize and defend God as a non child abuser.

MrsPhyno:

Hopefully there is an element of enlightenment there, lol. As for your specific analogy, I would say no. That's just me personally; Christians (I can't speak for all of course) have what we call the age of accountability, which before then we presume a child can't be sent to hell because they don't rly have the capacity to accept Jesus into their heart one way or another. Like, physically, biologically, their brains aren't functioning at that level yet.

Note that, it's not that such a child does not have the capacity to sin. At the age of four, a baby can beat another baby, at the age of six, a child can steal or be rude to their parents or anything. So it's not rly about the lack of sin per se, it's about the fact that they have not reached a capacity to reason about the abstract. Otherwise God would be sending all babies to hell, cause none of them have accepted him as their Lord and Savior yet. (Note also, that God doesn't care a dot which family you come from, which is to say that toddlers from Christian families would have no preference over those from Muslim families or Buddhist families etc etc).
Where does the bible speak about age of accountability? Is that the human in you speaking for God?
So its up to a human council of elders to determine who goes to hell or not. Is sin to sin for some age groups?

MrsPhyno:
I can't say exactly when the age of accountability is reached, I believe it's also nuanced per situation. Just know that God is smart, kind and just. Hope my epistle helped?
How can this process be impartial if an adult will head straight to hell for stealing the same bar of candy? Sin is sin right? This is why its difficult to believe the bible. Some of us see the human reasoning in it - despite them telling us God wrote the book.

IBEXY:
The general notion here is that once in hell, you are condemned forever. Can I ask a simple question:
If a child of 7 years steals a candy from the local shop and dies while running away from the scene.
Will he go to hell and be condemned to eternal fire and brimstone? Will God really fling this little boy into the same pits that hold hardened criminals and pedophiles - just for a bar of candy?
I still need an answer for this. What will God do in this case?

Religion / Re: Is It The Will Of God For Believers To Fall Sick? by IBEXY(m): 11:29am On Oct 02, 2016
There are many contradictions in what people profess as Christianity:

a) God is merciful and just?
Yet people are born with debilitating diseases and its supposed to proof the unfathomable mind of the almighty. Is that not egocentric? Help me justify why an innocent child is born with cancer or blind. I already hear people quoting the bible: "Sins of the father shall be visited ...".

Shut up jare!

That same bible says every man shall answer for his own sins. So why should the sins of the father affect people up to the third generation? Why should a child be born without legs because of what his granny did in 1969?

b) God is forgiving
Yet we are still being punished for a sin committed by a naked and naive husband and wife millenniums ago in a lost garden. For how many generations will God continue to punish us for what Adam and Eve did? Has he not had enough fun yet watching us kill each other?

c) The story of Sodom and Gomorrah would have been a war crime today.
Or should we mention Jericho or other places where Gods Generals slaughtered children, women or even cattle.

d) If God loved us so much, why did he banish Lucifer to down here.
He then sat watching us battling with a being "who was there from the beginning of time". Did he equip us to cope with a supernatural being? Is he having a laugh? Is this some games to him? He compelled us to "Survive if you can". You are condemned to eternal fire if you dont.

e) God created humans with natural cravings for sex, food etc.
Yet the holy doctrine says its sin to have those feelings. How can we live in denial of the very things that make us humans? If sex is bad, why did he create it? Its like putting sugar in my mouth and telling me not to swallow. That is a messed up game.

f) The concept of Hell
How can you punish a person for eternity. Even murderers are allowed to leave prison given the right circumstances. That is not so for God. Once you are in hell, you are done for. No further communication with mama or papa. Not even a drop of water to quench your thirst.Yest God is portrayed to be a synonym of mercy and love.

g) Is heaven really a place to be:
According to scripture you spend all day long singing Hosanna and praises to God. Dressed in white robes. Is this not the most boring thing? Again why does God need people to constantly sing praises to him? Its that egocentric thing again.

h) Does he even care for people who love him:
I have seen many people shout for God's help and received a loud silence in response? They went on to suffer. In the end they rationalize it to be the will of God. Can you imagine what happens if you play with a lion's baby? The lioness will tear you to pieces. All it takes is one cry from the baby lion. With all the hosanna and praises, people still die with the name of God on their lips.

i) It took a death to appease God
As claimed by the scripture, God is so angry with us that his own son had to undergo a cruel death to calm him down. That is messed up if you ask me. Even after that, God still did not forgive 100%. There are conditions attached to receiving amnesty.

React only if you have something convincing to say.

The photo is a further testament to how far we still need to go in Nigeria as a society. If this was in Nigeria, there would have been 7 layers of security around him.

The first thing you notice, travelling out for the first time to UK is: you could turn a corner on the street and right in front of you, hustling for a bus, is an official you would otherwise dare not come within a kilometer of.

The mayor of London, though he's from a rich family, goes to work on a bicycle everyday for Pete's sake!

- Instead Arik Air decided Refund charge should be: £598.8

Its been over 2 weeks since they agreed to pay me back the correct amount.

As usual, these type of posts engender a firehose of excellent rhetoric. Some reasonable and thought provoking. Others blinded and biased by stupid political affiliations.

We talk about Buhari recovering looted money. Is this the first time a new regime castigates a previous one? Is this the first time a new president recovers looted money? These distraction techniques dont impress me. Do we have a working system that holds civil servants or public office holders to account for getting richer than the country off the national pocket?
