Adverts / Get Paid To Create Trivia Questions - Looking For 5 Writers by IBEXY(m): 12:29pm On Dec 02, 2012
Are you imaginative? Can you create trivia type questions from: Music, TV, New & Current Affairs, Movies, etc.

I you can, you will get paid for it and it could be a continuos deal if you are really good.

An example trivia quiz on Movies could be:

1) Will Smith has had many incarnations in his movies. What was his name in his latest movie "Men In Black III"?
a. K
b. J
c. W

Also see the attached immage based trivia question in which a person should spot an odd item.

If you think you can do this, drop an email at ibexy2005@yahoo.com so we can discuss further.

Am looking for at least 5 people who can do this. Its urgent.

Adverts / Data Entry Work - Quick Service Good Pay! by IBEXY(m): 4:05pm On Nov 11, 2012
I am looking for a person on a short term basis to help upload data to a live website. This is a short term service but you will be well paid. There is a chance of a repeat of the service requirement from time to time too.

You should have the following:

1.) Access to a computer 24hrs
2.) You should have MS Word/ Excel skills
3.) Access to the internet 24hrs is a must
4.) Able to produce simple graphic images (using any graphics application)

Most of the work is already in MS Word. You only need to cut and paste into a web form. (Which you will be trained on)

If you are interested, please drop a line here and explain. You may start by stating how much you will charge per day or per page etc

Career / Re: The Link Between Quietness And Productivity At Work by IBEXY(m): 8:32am On Aug 11, 2012
Unfortunately most people think quiet people are unsocial and lack team spirit. No matter how hard working you are.

If you are unlucky and work in a place that measures "team spirit" by how much you leave your seat to go chit chat with you colleagues, then you are in danger. Genuinely quiet people dont talk a lot NOT because they want to ignore but because they really dont have a lot to say naturally.

I actually heard a manager accuse one fellow of only forming bonds with his colleagues on a "need" basis. He said it was wrong. He felt the poor guy should "chit chat" more in the office to convey a more acceptable team spirit. Of course I was stunned. The person in question is hard working but clearly reserved in nature. I began to ask myself which is more important. To be loud and talkative or to be productive in terms of work done?
Travel / Re: What Motivates Diasporans To Relocate Back To Nigeria? by IBEXY(m): 7:45pm On Jun 18, 2012
To all those who think "every" single naija in Europe is suffering, get your facts right. Its the same thing back home. Some people are rich, some are poor.

Again most people come to Europe with the "wrong" visa and end up having horrible experiences because they either cannot work or are only employable by "under the table" agencies who specialise in menial jobs.

BUT, the army of IT, Medical, Legal etc naija people making a good living are never spoken about.

To the person who said they got tired of serving an oyibo with lesser qualif. Sorry. I would like to address your case.

Let me talk of my area - Information Tech. In order to compete with an Oyibo programmer who has been using a computer from age 3, you really need to know your stuff. Not the stuff they teach in our Unis back home. While our Unis are teaching BASIC and FORTRAN (with procedural programming), They teach you Java, C# etc and Object Oriented programming in foreign Unis. The result? you are ready for the industry once you finish.

You may be right they dont have the qualif but hey, isn't Facebook's Zuckerberg, Bill Gates etc all drop outs? Would say Bill Gates is not qualified to head you because he dropped out of school? Or would you say Apple's Steve Jobs is not qualified to head Apple because he never went to Uni? Get yourself on the same level and in the right proffession first. For one thing I know IT is a filed where, they dont do colour. If you dont know it, you dont.

I used to think I was good in IT when I first came to UK (armed with my VB6, Dbase and a bit of Excel Macro language) - until I went to interviews. I had to go for extra training kia kia after I saw reality. Long tory short, if I had given up then, I would have echoed the notion that Oyibo only employs oyibo.

Fortunately, the real jobs that need expertise dont look at skin colour. They may hate you during lunch and after office but when it comes to delivery and business value, no one knows what colour you are. They will pay you what you want to get you on board. You still dont believe me? Look closely. You will see smiley

So in conclusion. People relocate to naija because:

1. They have to. (bad immigration status leads to frustration and the obvious choice of going back home)
2. They have made enough cash and want to give naija another try.
3. They get a better job back home.
4. They genuinely want to give back to naija what they have learnt abroad. (am afraid this is rare and almost always fails because the bribery culture defeats it)
5. They retire and want to die and be buried at home.
6. They decide to do a bit of "suffering and smiling" after getting too much "jolly" in yankee.

eemmyyy: who are ur applicants? what are their qualifications and what level of maths do u want to ask them.
Thanks for your response. It has actually brought up an aspect I failed to mention before:

I suggest splitting the questions 50/50 between the two groups:

1) High School/ Secondary School Leavers (50 Questions) - mild difficulty
2) First degree (and above) (50 Questions) - a bit more difficult

I expect to ask simple maths questions involving logical reasoning, simple calculations, identifying patterns (maths symbols) etc
Basically, something you would encounter in an aptitude test for a job.
Jobs/Vacancies / Will Pay You For 100 Multiple Choice Maths Questions. by IBEXY(m): 8:20am On May 03, 2012
This post disappeared before but here goes again:
I need to prepare 100 multiple choice aptitude questions in MATHS (plus other subjects). For now I need questions that:

1.) Can be answered in 3 minutes by job applicants.
2.) Not very complex but still requires deep thought.
3.) All questions must have 3 choices (you will indicate the correct choice)
4.) Questions must be original and NOT from any past exam papers (I will check it on google)

Note: This is a one off job plus one off payment (quick buck). Ideally I would be looking for people qualified in Maths or sciences or better still Maths teachers.

Family / Re: What Age Is Overdue For A Man To Marry? by IBEXY(m): 8:12am On May 03, 2012
Marriage should be done by max 40yrs. Otherwise when will you enjoy your kids? Give your kids a chance to enjoy you around for many many years.
NYSC / Re: You Discover That During NYSC, Your Fiancee Slept With 3 Men While Dating You by IBEXY(m): 2:02pm On Apr 07, 2012
The woman has no moral restraints or respect for you or herself. I can understand one mistake/ episode of cheating but with 3 men and for material stuff? Its bad. Really bad!

I have been in that situation before, when mobile phones first came out back in the days. My lady back then slept with a much older man to get a phone. I caught her in the act in my case. Tried to endure but I found it was a habit and not a mistake as the girl in question continually slept with men to get whatever I could not provide.

Mark it, she will do it to gain promotion at work too (talking from experience here).

I can see you in future doing DNA tests to prove the paternity of your kids.

My advice, leave now while you can. As I did.

How can you ask to be unbanned when you cant log in?
How do you access this thread?
Is this thread encouraging multi-id logins?
Because you would need a new id to log in first before asking to be unbanned.
Or maybe you buddies should do it for you? Mount some kind of protest march to re-instate you?
Oh I get it, this is some sort of civils rights thread!

Programming / Re: The Importance Of Software Testing And Not Just Software Programming by IBEXY(m): 4:31pm On Aug 22, 2011
I think the new hurdle would be automation. Employers ask for it even when they dont really need it. For those testers who have refused to learn some javascript, vbscript, selenium or QTP, you may not be doing yourself a whole lot of good.
Travel / Re: Should I Migrate Or Remain In Nigeria? by IBEXY(m): 2:39pm On Aug 21, 2011
, and be ready to do menial jobs - of the lowest category in order to survive. Unless you got a rich family there in US, its not easy to get started without doing all the shitty jobs while you get stuff into place.

There is no shame in labour. A lot many guys arrived and looked down on brothers doing security, cleaning or even care work (bum cleaning). They gave up and joined the bandwagon after their pocket money finished six months later.

In summary, dont be choosy. Get a job (any job) immediately. Then get your act together and start working towards your goals. Yankee can be a very lonely place with everyone working non stop and phones turned off. Its really a culture shock when you first arrive.
Travel / Re: Should I Migrate Or Remain In Nigeria? by IBEXY(m): 10:49am On Aug 21, 2011
I dont know of America but student visa is horribly limited in the opportunities it can offer. You may not be able to get any meaningful employment. Switching to permanent residence permit is not also guaranteed. Why not try any of the visas that grant you full working status. At least you will have a chance to try and look for work without fear.

Again, the realities of yankee is far removed from the "glitterati" so many associate with it. It pretty tough. What skills do you have. What course are you going for. Your current job, what does it pay. Will you earn more in the same job in yankee? Look very well before you leap.
