Eminem definitely.
I cant forget how I reacted to the track "Am not Afraid". I played that track nearly 100 times the first day I heard it. It garnered millions of plays on youtube within one month of being uploaded. So am not the only one who was affected by those beats and rhymes. (Right now it has over 160 millions views in 6 months on youtube)

Politics / Re: Video Of Alleged Assault On Actress Ufoma Ejenabor by IBEXY(m): 10:07am On Nov 23, 2010
Its a pity citizens have to act all that aggression to get justice in naija.  sad

Police is not above the law! Your being a uniformed man does not rule you out of settlement when you hit a car from behind (like I saw in the video). This is a fundamental issue that should be addressed by the government. Uniformed personnels are not above the law.

Some people here asked where in the video she was assaulted. Does assault need to be physical before it registers? Did we not hear the officer abuse her verbally. Assault, for crying out loud, can be physical, verbal etc What about the disruption in her life brought about by the police crashing into her car? She could have missed a crucial appointment leading to loss of income as a result of the fracas.

To be frank when I first came to the UK, the first 2 years were like hell. I kept asking myself if I made a mistake. Even in those days, the quality of life was still ok. Better than what I had in naija.

These days I thank God I did not panic and bolt back to naija. My only pain is that I dont have all my friends and relatives here. I dont regeret being in London at all at all.

What next does the BBC want to invest our TV licence money on towards media bashing Nigeria?
Family / Re: For Nigerian Mothers Who Gave Birth Abroad by IBEXY(m): 1:07pm On Oct 12, 2010
The kids are too young at 5 years to make any meaning out of "Nigerian national pride or respect". I quite agree kids born abroad need a little bit of orientation and "home" experience but that should be when they are matured enough to understand life. Moreover, as a parent yourself, you can still teach them all about Nigeria right there in USA.

I think home orientation is important because I have met a few "African" guys in UK here who think Africa is one large impoverished "country" peopled by kwashiokor ridden humans pepetually needing £1 donation from abroad to survive. That is the image the media projects here. A lot of the British born Africans therefore feel ashamed to associate themselves with Africa. I have a colleage at the work place born of Ghanian parents who went to Africa for the first time during the world cup. He came back to tell me he could not believe his eyes. He told me South Africa was just like here (London). I noticed his attitude changed towards me since then. He became more friendly. I told him it was all media hype. Granted things are tough in Africa but a lot of it is overblown by charity organisations who survive by showing picture of missery and poverty.

Education / Re: Which School Is The Best University In Nigeria And Why? by IBEXY(m): 12:54pm On Oct 12, 2010
Omo_Tier1:

45% of Nigerians are a difficult bunch to deal with! Why can't we just take someone's words as they are? Rather than slamming the dude (who posted the question) for no reason, if you have good enough reason to suggest which University you think is the best, why not just do it? Maybe from the reasons given we can begin to learn one or two things about certain Universities in Nigeria which we may not have known before now.
My brother I wonder o  shocked
The guy is probably a young man looking to make the right decision. Why slam him? The only reason I can think of for these unwarranted nastiness is jealousy. Annoyance that the guy wants to have something these ignorant people never and could never have. Tell me any other reason why this simple question would provoke such verbal nastiness?

As soon as I walked into my work place this morning, its been laughter at me. I have spent all morning trying to dispel the negativity spread by Lous Theroux and his one sided show. I imagine all the times I have tried to defend naija and now another documentary in less than 6 months after "Welcome to Lagos". I think the BBC has delibrately set out to destroy the image of Nigeria for some political reasons.

I dont agree with people extorting money from innocent citizens or "agbero" sponsored governors or even state governors eloping with "street thugs" but why must bbc always show the bad side of naija?

If you have been to Peckham, Dalston, Tottenham etc you would know London has its own version of area boys too. Go out in the night in these places are see for yourself - packs of hooded hooligans roaming around and harrasing and mugging people. Its the same here as well.

Why cant the BBC show Abuja or other beautiful places in naija? Is London more beautiful than Abuja? I doubt.

Despite me being ashamed of the facts emerging, I think it was necessary to expose the corrupt and criminal power in government in our beloved country. Some foreigners dont believe Nigeria is poor. They here think we are all oil rich.

I cant understand the mindset of people like this. Is there anything to be proud about what we just saw? Because there are gangs in New York justifies us having area boys working with state governors to extort money from people and unleash a reign of terror on innocent citizens?

Romance / Re: Pastors’ Advice On Chastity Earns Me Menopause As Spinster by IBEXY(m): 7:51am On Oct 02, 2010
Alas this story is mirrored everyday all around us. There are thousands of ladies (and a few men) like this. There are plenty of selfish "men of God" who mislead young people with their fake wisdom. The issue does not only apply to meeting the opposite sex and getting married, it involves you surrendering all your hard earned money as well every sunday to people who intimidate and tell you exactly what you want to hear. The pastor may have even wanted her for himself - who knows. Sheer jealousy could have motivated his actions.

In my experience I have met at least two ladies who live exactly like this. One eventually married. The other one is still parambulating up and down at nearly 50yrs old. Infact I thought she wrote this story because she is in the same age bracket. What man wants a woman who would call your every move "devilish". I still remember her now:

- She does not watch movies,
- no music is good except gospel songs (only the ones she likes)
- no parties, or eating out
- no sexy clothing (its all garish long skirt and scarves no makeup either)
- She condemns all your clothes as devilish - you should be on suits 24/7
- You must read the bible all the time - get rid of every other books
- Sleep and wake to the sound of a christian chorus.
- Above all, you are not allowed to touch her or any other girl despite you have been dating for nearly a year.
- And then, you must leave every other church and join hers - to worship her pastor as an equal to Christ.
- Contribute a massive chunk of my salary to the church every month

You guessed right, I left her. The pressure was too much. I was becoming an extremist and begining to forget how to enjoy life. Today I met and married a fellow "sinner" and we live happily.  Extremism works out badly in the end. You loose social skills, friends and forget how to live and enjoy life. You cannot spiritualise the physical without suffering the consequance.

The worst part is you will see people coming to this thread to encourage her to keep praying instead of arranging a man for her. What she needs is not more prayers. God already answered those prayers by sending men but her selfish pastor sent them away. What she needs now is a man. Am therefore appealing to any unmarried nairalander to consider this open hearted application in good faith.

Webmasters / Re: How To Get Sponsors For A Project by IBEXY(m): 5:37pm On Sep 29, 2010
You will need a proper business plan. Written and bound. Then approach and pitch the idea to potential investors. (all the rich people you know smiley). You can also solicit here on NL.

You will need to understand how to write a good Biz plan. Set out the what the project is all about, what it will take to run (manpower, etc), Profit margin.

I was reading a thread here about viable projects. Someone was pitching this idea about traffic congestion spotting. Quite a few people loved the idea. You never know who is reading the post.

HOWEVER. Never never reveal your ideas until someone is really serious about investing.

im igbo
- our people lie too much
- our people extremely arrogant
- our women are even more arrogant then the men and rude
- we are the least likely to take pride in our culture.
- we have huge heads
- obsessed with showing off.
- elitist
- we accuse others of hating us when we're probably the biggest tribalists in nigeria.
- lack of scruples. but this is true of all tribes in nigeria, we're all willing to do anything to get ahead regardless of the moral disposition of the act.

How can you be so negative about your own people? Are you ashamed of who you are? Am sure Yoruba oe Hausa people will welcome you. Apply within kiakia.
Music/Radio / Re: 2face Idibia Live Show, Best Ever In Nigeria. by IBEXY(m): 11:03am On Sep 29, 2010
ddippset:

2 baba is a talented artist but quite frankly he is irresponsible and far from a role model( any right thinking nigerian would not use him as an example or tell their kids about 2face). most men are polygamous quite alright but a man who attempts to single-handedly increase the world population by 1% is sick.
These artistes are under constant pressure from fans (especially females). They are human. 2face has done better than most people in his position. At least he has not become a drug addict. No man can long stand with all those girls literarily throwing themselves at you.

Culture / Re: What Has Been Your Experience With Juju? by IBEXY(m): 1:37pm On Sep 28, 2010
Discussions like this are bound to end up being a haggle between bible carriers and the rest of us. Why do we have to judge this by bible standards? Who said juju (if it exists) symbolises darkness or or evil. Even though I never had a first had experience and I dont believe it exists, I have heard as well a lot of "dem say" good things about juju.

My opinion, juju is a hype propagated by greedy medicine men intent on building some sort of career for themselves.
