In future, such a woman will also sleep with her manager to get promotion.
She will sleep with the jeweler to get the latest bling or lace wrapper.

Best option: show her the door

Students are meant to study hard and pass their exams (or fail and repeat)

No sexually transmitted degrees please.

We all love naija music. Its just the fakers we are worried about. Its not wrong calling a spade a spade. Criticism is also necessary for improvement.

We still haven't found out why they put on heavily insulated winter coats in the scorching heat of Nigeria.
I've been brainstorming all night. Must be something related to talent or it helps with the New York accent.
Travel / Re: Nigeria Will Reciprocate Visa Denials And Delays – Gbenga Ashiru by IBEXY(m): 7:05am On Jul 30, 2011
A Romanian oil contractor told me Nigeria is the easiest place to visit. He actually stated so many of his fiends in naija were not qualified to be there. He stated all it took was to pass a few brown envelopes here and there and its open sesame.
I was so embarrassed cry

grin grin grin i agree, a fake "new york accent" silly auto-tunes, they even wear heavy winter coats in the hot naija weather just to imitate the new york image it is appaulingly embarrasing!
grin
So why do they dress up in heavy winter jackets and boots in 48 degree centigrade Nigeria?
I will agree all you have said if you can explain this to me.
Programming / Re: The Importance Of Software Testing And Not Just Software Programming by IBEXY(m): 5:36pm On Jul 29, 2011
Software testing is different from debugging. Debugging is done by developers/programmers. Software Testing or Software Quality Assurance is done by testers analysts/software testers.

A lot of people confuse debugging with testing. They are two different things.

Debugging involves locating bugs and taking steps to correct them (fixing). This activity is typically done when developing an application by programmers. You find a bug, re-write the code to solve the problem.

Software Testing, on the other hand, are the various techniques you adopt in measuring the quality of a system against predefined requirements. The tester does not go further to solve identified bugs. This will be passed on to developers (as defects/ussues)

Therefore, while debugging involves finding and fixing bugs, testing only finds errors but the tester does not do the fixing.

Please know your HIP from your HOP. grin
Naija rappers, please stop trying to sound like New Yorkers. If you have never lived in America why would you want to sound like a yankee doodle? Its silly because your primary fans are Nigerians. Why not rap in Pidgeon English or Yoruba/Ibo/Hausa. The Latinos in America have several rappers who do it in Spanish and they are big!

Ever wondered why 2face made it big? (note, he's not a rapper smiley ) You'll never hear him trying to sound like 50cent or Grand Master Flash and the furious 5. He cut his own style - even sings in Pidgeon English yet he's loved all over the world. He's original.

I read someone say Timaya is a hip-hop artiste? This is the problem. Some people here dont even know what hip-hop or rap music means.

phreakabit:

Ever heard of the term YOUTH APPEAL?
More like trash appeal.

phreakabit:

WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK HIP-HOP IS CALLED COMMERCIAL MUSIC?
Exactly. Not much in quality. Just "flash in the fry pan" stuff with no longetivity. By the way, which sort of music is NOT commercial? RnB?

phreakabit:
I guess you will buy it if they made it a lil bit more traditional? BTW why don't you buy Fuji and listen to it after-all its refereed to as the Yoruba version of Hip-hop.
Think about raggae from Jamaica. Why do you think its so popular? Bob Marley was traditional, commercially viable and very very authentic. Why? He remained with what he knew and stuff that was his tradition/ culture. Why cant Fuji be exported. Afterall Makosa was succesfully sold to the world.

I love hip-hop. But after idolising people like Eminem, Dre, Snoop, 2pac and understanding why they say what they say, its kind of fake listening to a prenterder from naija trying to sound Brooklyn. It just dont feel the same.
Music/Radio / Re: 99% Of Nigerian Hip Hop Singers Are Clowns by IBEXY(m): 5:41pm On Jul 28, 2011
When you speak and sing in a "New York accent" in the middle of Agegunle, how can you be authentic? When you immitate and rep a movement you dont truely understand or belong to, it comes out fake. I think our musicians should borrow more from the rich cultural background we have in naija. It will be more authentic and acceptable. A few have done and they are doing very well. All that clownish pointing and gesticulating gansta hand signal is sickening.

More of our stolen wealth found abroad?

Those artifacts are crying to come back home.

candylips:

but they sometimes  raise irrelevant issues and sometimes misinterprete requirements.
i hate having to explain why something is not a bug.
I detect a hint of attitude here. Mind you most testers are programmers as well or have some knowledge of systems development. Testers only dispute system behaviours that dont conform to original requirement. Testers are constructive critics.

candylips:

am not a crap developer.
to get around the problem we now draft test plans as a team at the begining of an iteration
This should have been standard policy. What were you doing before? Free for all scenario? Coding and testing should be guided by a plan. Of course test plans and technical specification or use cases should be properly analysed and signed off AS A TEAM. Programming in isolation may make you produce bugs you are conviced should be acceptable.

If only Amy knew how much rancour and and name calling her death would generate on Nairaland.
mbulela:

very difficult indeed. hence the need for drugs to make it easier.
Not really to blame the bright lights. I believe she was a very vulnerable person by nature. I also think she was not really supported by people around her. She could have been used also. To some she could have been just a money spinning commodity.

Drug addiction is an illness. Its not like a dress you could put on or off at will. If ever you have seen a drug addict experiencing "withdrawal", you would begin to understand why they always go back to it.

TV/Movies / Re: Will An Action Nollywood Movie Sell In Nigeria? by IBEXY(m): 12:07pm On Jul 25, 2011
Just let it be different from the mass production crap that is Nollywood right now. Its about time we injected some quality into our movie industry. Honestly, do these nollywood producers make those movies in more than 2 days? They really look like secondary school drama stuff to me. If you are going to bring something more serious, of course I would buy it and am sure am not the only one thinking this way right now.
Music/Radio / Re: Amy Winehouse Is Dead by IBEXY(m): 8:53am On Jul 25, 2011
[size=14pt]Amy's dead body being removed from her home in Camden, London. Reminds me of MJ's body being taken by paramedics. Its reported she lay dead for around 6 hours before being discovered. She died alone in bed. I dare say many fans feared this to happen - given her recent mental and physical state. Yet it comes as a sad shock.
RIP

Music/Radio / Re: Amy Winehouse Is Dead by IBEXY(m): 8:37pm On Jul 23, 2011
Now watch the records sales go through the roof!
The record companies may secretly be happy when a "finished" artiste dies. Amy's best days are over. They were probably fed up with her shenanigans. Especially after the shambolic Belgrade concert.

What would death bring but a final burst of publicity that would usher in a frantic rush for records? The artiste, if they were good enough, walk into the gallery of legends. The record company reap the fruits (dollars) from the emotional attachment of the sad fans for years to come.
Some artiste are better (financially) dead than alive - for the record companies of course.
RIP once more Amy!

Programming / Re: What Is The Future Of Nigeria's Software Industry? by IBEXY(m): 7:49pm On Jul 23, 2011
Let the government fix the issue of power supply first.
I bet you there are many budding and undiscovered programmers there being limited by access to equipment and power supply.
We have very intelligent people. The software future is bright.
Dont forget as well we have millions of them abroad who are more than willing to come home if conditions improve.
