That is a very good point. Primary and secondary education should be the focus cos that is the standard for literacy. Tertiary education should be left alone by the FG.

The FG that has not fully funded the current ones will open new Unis every year increasing expenses and just to create positions for people to get salary not to be productive

We just bloat budget in every direction which makes it easy for people to steal money and remain inefficient

The primary and secondary is state Govt which is as varied in quality as Barcelona is to Asec Mimosas depending on the state you live in. I remember when two boys in our BQ got sent home from state primary because teacher said they must bring toilet roll for him/her before they can attend. I couldn't comprehend it. Then imagine the primary school in the village and those in the North etc.

Govt has no business with tertiary beyond potentially providing loans, but has every business with primary and secondary and standardisation of learning across the country up till the age of 16. These ensure a decently educated populace upon which to base economic activity and true democracy. Not the one Imam can tell Almajiri anything at election time and he can't think for himself and assess the options before him.

On the federal level Unity secondary schools too are not free but subsidized as well.

But states like Lagos have free education from primary to secondary school and tertiary education subsidized like their federal counterparts

Who come be the Unity secondary schools. I only know FGC (like two in each state) and nothing for primary.

Which brings me to the point that Govt responsibility is to educate it's population to secondary level, but FG is educating tertiary and leaving the main drivers of the economy (primary and secondary) for insha'Allah.
