BlueAngel444:We were playing 4-2-3-1 then and KDB plays there. Oscar had the profile of being no10 for Brazil and was fairly popular in his 2012-13 season. That is an easy sell for Mata's replacement than a small Belgian boy. Kaka had already suffered one year of injury and flopping before being shifted for Ozil who was Germany's no10 and a World Cup star. |
BlueAngel444:Go and ask Mou. I supported KDB. If you ask me, Mourinho was playing politics with Oscar Vs Mata and KDB was not a big enough name to factor in that political argument. Mourinho said he wants to get rid of Mata and I quote "in order to make space for Brazil's no10". I just think KDB was a victim of the 6 months it took Mourinho to politically shift Mata out of the club. In the process of doing that, KDBs career was being wasted and he did not have the patience to wait for such politics to play out. You cannot shift your POTY and much loved Chelsea player with a largely unknown small boy from Belgium. That would have been unacceptable to the fans and media, so he had to do it with Oscar, who I also did not like. |
swiz123:CM or DM, they both have primary defensive responsibility. We are no longer in the days of Okocha and Oliseh where one has all defensive accountability and the other has zero defensive accountability. Stopping opponents from penetrating is the primary responsibility of a CM or DM. You can do that by defending well or by hogging the ball so thoroughly that opposition do not touch the ball to harm you with it, or both. Fabregas can do neither consistently. |
BlueAngel444:This is our first team without question. Only Azpilicueta has an argument to break into this team but James has improved his stamina to where Azpis case for inclusion is getting weak |
basilico:Votes are not finalised till 8th December, at which point Don the Con will sing Olu Maintains Yahooze song for you. In the meantime, feel free to use your arithmetic to count the current gap in votes in each state Vs the outstanding votes left to count, since you don't trust APs arithmetic on who won each state |
swiz123:Well you are an idealist while I prefer reality. That should explain why Fabregas has been a bench fodder since the age of 29 and why Monaco are trying to chase him away till today |
swiz123:Well that's your opinion. Makelele also lacked what you may describe as precision passing but is the best DM in the clubs history. Maybe you want a Fabregas in your DM position but Kantes technical skill is more than adequate for the position and that is borne out both in his volume of passes and accuracy of passes when he plays there. I don't need a 9/10 passer in that position - a 6/10 passer with good defensive skill is hundred times better than a 9/10 passer with no defensive skill in that position. My opinion is below. Ibime: |
swiz123:Kante has no glaring technical weakness in his position as I stated earlier |
swiz123:In assists no, but they are both the same escort in their primary work of deep lying midfield |
swiz123:Once again, you don't know who you are talking about. Maybe you are new here. You can ask around who persecuted Bakayoko the most on this thread. I even staked $100 on Bakayoko being a flop. I do not accomodate weakness whether physical or technical.
|
popizaino:Nonsense. In a title chasing team, we don't talk about specific games. When we talk of players like Fabregas, we talk of inconsistency and inability to compete consistently in big games. The same Fabregas who may dominate West Ham in that game could escort Bournemouth within the next 3 games, or be unable to get hold of the ball against a big team in another game. What we want for Chelsea is that our midfield is competitive in every game, not playing lottery from one game to another. How are you different from those who come to praise Jorginho after his good games, knowing he will still escort and be a liability at another game down the line. |
swiz123:No because these players are difficult to move on financially. If Lampard could find a buyer, Jorginho would be out of here. Until then, they just do their best to work around those players weaknesses, often dropping them when water done pass garri. |
swiz123:That's their teams business and their teams are the ones suffering for it, getting hammered 8-2, 6-0 and the likes in tough games. |
Timiofak:Cultists move on from one lie to the next with no accountability for the previous lies. ono fit be one of my childhood friend for Borokiri, PH by the same name. I wouldn't be surprised because even back then, that guy been dey like to share political conspiracies. |
swiz123:Kante does not pose structural weakness. His passing and control is at least 6/10. Shooting is irrelevant in his position. Ramires passing and control was 2/10 which is what made him a weakness. You only need 5/10 in any trait to be acceptable within a team framework and Kante has that in every trait related to his position. When you have speed of 1/10 like Fabregas then you pose structural weakness. You may as well be a cardboard cutout on the pitch in defensive situations. Busquet, Jorginho are all weaknesses. Pirlo had 3 centrebacks behind him and 2 DMs in front of him, otherwise he would also pose a weakness. |
BlueAngel444:Fabregas slowness has nothing to do with age. He was still in his late twenties when he came to Chelsea. An AM does not need to be fast, but he cannot be a snail. Only when you literally walk the ball into the opponent box like Spain, Barca and Arsenal can you talk of Fabregas being an AM. When football changed, he was left behind, lacking the ability to play effectively in either a high pressing or counterattacking team. He had glaring deficiency whether in AM, CM or DM and no serious competitive team can accomodate that long term which is why he was chased to the bench for years and finally chased to Monaco who would also like to chase him if they could find a buyer. |
BlueAngel444:Yes he was. He has the body of a 12 year old boy. Yes I did persecute Mata and I did argue for his sale on these very pages which caused a big brouhaha back then and I was proved right. Mata was a passenger for Chelsea in big games due to his lack of physicality. He only pad stats in the small games and disappeared in the big games. That's why we don't talk of Mata in UCL run of 2012 cos he was a liability and often dragged off early for Kalou at which point his wing would stop being overloaded. On the contrary, I was one of the biggest promoters of KDB cos I saw his vision with no weakness in him. BlueAngel444:You can ask around. I was the biggest persecutor of Ramires on this thread. I don't accomodate weakness in any player whether technical or physical and Ramires was a technical liability, always giving the ball away by trying to run with it through the centre of midfield, with an atrocious first touch and lacking the simple midfield basics of trapping the ball, turning and passing to a teammate. |
swiz123:Pogba has many weaknesses including jogging, lack of fitness, not following players and dwelling on the ball too long. I do judge players on their weakness because those weaknesses cost the team points and do not allow the team to consistently challenge. That's why you can talk of Fabregas in comparison to other generational talents, yet he was chopping bench because the managers of his team's cannot accommodate such weakness in team structure. It is not managers job to accomodate weakness when the weakness is too glaring to be accommodated and can cost the manager his job. Same reason Mata's weakness is not accomodated, nor Ozil. Every player has a role to play in modern football. There are no passengers. |
Melvyn11:How are they nostalgic vote when it was happening presently and Ronaldinho was newer on the scene than Henry Ronaldinho 2005 Ballon D'or win is one of the most dominant of all time. Henry only got two votes which must be sympathy votes from France and Martinique
|
Melvyn11:Only young people still in primary school or junior secondary from 04-06 will subscribe to this. Ronaldinho margin of victory in Ballon d'Or voting will be one of the most dominant margin of victories of all time. |
afrodoc2:Be that as it may, there were many players around during 2004-2006 that were highly respected but he floored them all like Maradona floored all from 86-88. Not even R9 was that dominant cos Del Piero was keeping up with R9 on domestic stage while Zidane managed to steal his glory on International stage. |
popizaino:No, you are downplaying it. They were also unhappy with his inability to dominate the ball in midfield and his escorting hence Godx said he was always half a step behind. No one has a problem with throwing good long passes. He just could not do bread-and-butter midfield work. Like a baker that can only put icing on cake but can never consistently bake the cake. |
pamcode:Muller over Kaka Ronaldinho over Neymar |
pamcode:Sacrilege to put Ronaldinho in the same sentence with the other three when talking of prime. 2004-2006, Ronaldinho was the most dominant generational talent since Maradona in 86-88. No one was competing with him. |
ono:Una money done enter voicemail. Another con from the Don. Believe him at your own peril. He has been filing suits but nothing alleging fraud. This is just another con to rile up his base, hoping he can cause enough civil disturbance to intimidate GOP electors. He has nothing in court. As soon as States start certifying results, all this legal bluster will disappear, that's why I said by 8th December, money done loss. Let the conman play his games till then. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-invalidate-election-results-lawsuits-differ-from-tweets-2020-11

Roland17:That's why I went for Silva cos he's the only one that was able to adapt. The other 3 are relics of a previous era, unable to adapt to changing tactics and formations. Mata was also the least adaptable and does not belong in this conversation. Fabregas was too fragile defensively, yet too slow to join the attack and keep up with his strikers effectively when we reached the 2010 decade. He neither fit in AM, CM nor DM and posed a tactical weakness in each position that unbalanced the teams he played for. Mata was too physically weak and slow and disappeared with the obsolescence of the no10 position, also posing a tactical weakness even when in his prime. He was good in small games but disappeared and was overrun in big games, putting much pressure on his midfield partners to cover his gaps. Ozil held on for longer but was also made obsolete by no10 position disappearing. Silva was able to transition from left-wing to AM to CM effectively and was never a carryalong or tactical hindrance at any point in his career. And I don't particularly think Silva had more physicality to adapt than the others, he just had more intelligence and desire. |
Raumdeuter may be right based on the below, but I think the GOP party has been so hijacked and compromised by Trump's base they may be powerless to take back their party from the cult of Trump. The only thing that can give GOP the power to do so is if Trump is found guilty of criminal acts, allowing them to move on him, however another Trumpist like Tom Cotton could also hijack the GOP easily using Trump's base.

Roland17:Fabregas is good for catching praise in a fourphy club. When you play for a club where every game is judged and each game could be the difference between winning and losing the title, the stakes are different. Fabregas prime was in a 4th place Arsenal team where no one cares from game to game and any game you flop is glossed over. In a big club, you only need to flop in one key game in the season for that game to be highlighted and for it to define your season. Once Fabregas reached the big boys clubs with expectations, he was chased. Even at Chelsea, he was chased to the bench within 2 years and eventually out of the club. I chose prime Silva for the simple fact his prime lasted a decade in a trophy chasing club and he was central to that decade and was never chased from the club. Fabregas, Ozil and Mata have been chased from several clubs. None of them have been wanted for the past 3 years. |
MaziAlaye:December 8th is fast approaching. Once that time reach, money done loss. |
PrideofLincoln1:This is shameless behaviour. The same Govt that write HR Laws on company-employee conduct cannot in any way act above the spirit of those laws. I have never seen a farewell message like this my entire working life, and never seen a Western Govt sack someone with anything more than a "Thank you for service" message regardless of their incompetence. I have seen the most incompetent executives sacked with my company thanking them and making excuse about them leaving for family or educational reasons or to explore other opportunities. Any company that sacks someone in this manner will simply lose any employment adjudication that follows. This guy is clueless. Government is a continuum and if you hire and fire every year and accuse those you fired of incompetence or posing a National Security risk, that just tells us your Govt is incompetent and a Security risk. |
edi287:Trump is a threat to National Security. How do you tell the world on Twitter that your security chief illegally released classified information? This guy is utterly clueless on the messaging that comes with Governance. This is ignoring the totally childish farewell message about him being incompetent which I will never expect within a professional working environment no matter how incompetent the ex-employee was. This is the sort of farewell message I expect from a trader selling shoes in a market somewhere in Umudike after firing an employee. No wonder this sort of brash unprofessional behaviour appeals to Umudikeans.
