Carchoice: i don’t know why you people are making marriage sound like it’s a war zone. You married the wrong person no doubt. We all get to find out after marriage.
Here’s the truth of the matter, it’s either you married the wrong person or YOU ARE THE WRONG PERSON.
Some people always say this as an automatic response to a marriage not being painted as a bed of roses, but how do you even quantify this objectively?
I feel that there are too many possible factors and things that those looking in from the outside aren't privy to, to always automatically run to this as the explanation. People have their own different experiences
Intrepid01: Now you’re making a whole lot of sense. I am with you on this, I hate the fact that all black Americans do is to gather in form of protest and do nothing till the next black person is shot dead. But the way you were bringing gender inequality to this wasn’t right at all. Gender inequality exist regardless of race and should be addressed too I get, but separately. Not an opportunity to justify racism at all.
Don't think she's justifying racism, the power structure in Nigeria significantly favours men over women, I believe she's saying these same men don't seem to understand this concept until it happens to them in the form of racism (arguably different and with its own unique nuances but parallels can still be drawn)
cococandy: Also factor in the general population of whites to blacks. Not easy to get elected into positions of power when you’re the minority. We are in fact asking all black people to be like Obama . We asking them to be 10 times better than the average white man to get the same amount of respect afforded a white person. Because that’s what it would take to actually have more black people in positions of power despite them being a minority.
pippimp: Wasn't really in mood to cook anything tonight. Made this crunchy chicken quesadilla and washed it down with this old school. Brought back some serious clubbing memories. Couldn't wait for this song to come on and use the opportunity to snatch up anything breathing withing arms reach to head for the dance floor Lol.......
Dignity5: Both sides of this are quite wrong and so this problem will persist but am afraid the AA's will be on the losing end. Losing out on development, image , just about every thing worth losing.
Trying to promote revolution like this is the worse possible thing that can afford to do. The AA image has been bad from the onset and bad apples have given no reasons for these already highly prejudiced folks to try and table differences. People selling drugs? an AA is probably involved, a robbery? yeah representing as well, violent crimes? can't be left out. African's in Africa are not much better, leaders to street dwellers. The economies, cities and streets, standard of life, it's just really telling of who they are. If black people do not sit down and act like human beings others won't.
This mindset that others will go out of their way to accommodate blacks is also naive and hasn't even been earned in my view. Call for this guy's head but two more will spring up. Emotional responses like this would also muddy the road to a lasting solution which is to put up their portion in society. At the very least If more AA's were in legislative, judiciary, executive roles a more substantial impact would be at hand, their fate would be in their hands.

I don’t think rioting is the most 'productive' response, but that’s because they end up destroying their own communities that they live in and only end up hurting themselves, not because of any image you think they should preserve to please massa.
Respectability politics is not getting rid of systemic racism and bias, peaceful protests aren’t stopping black people from getting killed for something a white person would get a slap on the wrist for. If you watched the video, you would see that people 'calmly' pleading with the officer to get off the victim’s neck did nothing. That’s why white people can march into a government building to protest lockdowns that are supposed to be protecting them, screaming into the faces of officials while armed without violent resistance from officials, but black people would not be given the same allowances. Or when a white person goes on a shooting spree and is given the ‘grace’ of being termed mentally ill but everyone else is a terrorist or a thug. You can't discount the bias.
Everything has a boiling point, so when they're getting angry and reacting ‘emotionally’, who can blame them? ….I do however agree that black people need to focus on improving their socio-economical standing, prioritise votes, acquiring better positions in institutions, strategising politically, creating spaces of their own etc. They’re easier to ‘conquer’ in situations like this because very few of them are in positions of power. Because after all of this, a few months later they’re back to square one.
Kpokakpoka: Hehehe ....I imagined uwd like it. Haaah....that year of raba!...I still jam it on my pc. The beat of that song ehn.. Even Linda ikeji attested to the fact that it was one of her top song for the year.
Kpokakpoka: Wow...some old playlist you have got there sha... Next hype is one crazy song lol....someone said it makes him feel like to rob his own house.
I think the drill sound has kind of taken over grime
Lol yeah it makes me feel like robbing my own house too, jam
sassysure: That thing is not actually cultural perse cos the men in my family cooks. In fact, they cook better than girls. I have a friend whose husband is Yoruba. That man can cook. There are specific food he makes better than his wife. I have a benue friend too. Her husband is champion in the kitchen.
My dad trained all the boys how to cook. We have to set examples for the kids so they don't turn out like majority of us.
Yeah there will definitely be plenty of exceptions, the men in my family cook etc too, but the ones who are averse to it are more common than those who aren't
If I have sons this is definitely an area I will focus on
fullblast: If you like naughty songs, pls go ahead and enjoy it.... I grinned without restrain when you suddenly made a U-turn on what you love. You need to be an unapologetical you. Herein lies your absolute freedom. And people will be attracted to you for your uniqueness.
