Some leading traditional rulers in Osun State Tuesday dissociated themselves from the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as a
preferred candidate for the Saturday presidential election.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade had endorsed Jonathan in his palace
and directed some other traditional rulers in Osun to point their beaded walking sticks on Jonathan to pray for the President’s success in the election.

In a communiqué signed by the traditional rulers after their meeting at the palace of Akirun of Ikirun, the monarchs faulted their colleagues in the state who endorsed Jonathan at Ife.

The monarchs who attended the meeting and signed the communiqué include Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abioye Oyebode Oluronke, the Olukuku of Okuku, Oba Joseph Oladunjoye Fasikun, the Olunisa of Inisa, Oba Olayiwola Olawale Adedeji, the Akirun of Ikirun and Oba Rauf Adebayo Olaniyan, the Elende of Eko-Ende.

Others are Oba Kelani Adekeye Oyedare, Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Isaac Adetoyi Adetunlurese, the Onirun of Oke-Irun, Oba Yusuf Omoloye Oyagbodun, the Elerin of Erin Osun and Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Timi of Ede.

The monarch said the endorsement of President Jonathan in Ife was generating ripple among their subjects who thought that the entire traditional ruler in the state partook in the endorsement of the president.

The monarchs lamented that they were embarrassed when some of their subjects demanded for their own share from the hard currency allegedly doled out by the president at Ife.

According to the communiqué, “the general impression is that all traditional rulers in Osun State, without exception, were involved.
Consequently,our subjects have been accusing us, demanding our explanation for engaging in such an act. Some of them (our subjects) have also demanded for their own share of the money we collected”.

It continued “No doubt, this is an embarrassing situation to us. For this reason, we have decided to make it clear to the public that not all traditional rulers in Osun were involved in the act”.

The monarchs said good governance that would bring better life to their people is their main concern and called on their subjects to discountenance their issue of money and vote according to their conscience.

Most commentary on thread know little or nothing about the politics in akwa-ibom.

Akpabio is Annang from Essien Udim and not from oron.
He is fighting a battle of survival right now in the state based on feelers I scoop from friends still there in Eket
He betrayed the Abak Senatorial ticket arrangement by picking up the ticket for Senate which have seen the 6 Ibibio local governments in the Ikot ekpene senate Zone to gang up against his candidacy and have chosen the APC candidate as their choice.

Akwa Ibom is built on a tripod of Ibibio, Annang and Oron with the Ibibios the largest bloc. The Oron with 5 local government are angry with akpabio for shortchanging them by giving an Ibibio man the ticket of the PDP in the state for governorship when it ought to be their turn. Attah is Ibibio, Akpabio is Annang hence the oron people had always felt 2015 will be their turn but akpabio killed their aspiration by imposing an unknown Udom Emmanuel on the state PDP hence rhe entire Oron nation is behind the APC candidate who hails from the largest voting bloc in the State, the Uyo senatorial district Nsit Ubium LGA, he equally picked an oron man as his running mate which have endeared his candidacy to the oron people.

With the way things are in Akwa Ibom, Umana Umana will not want a clean sweep by the PDP in the state on the 28th of March knowing that could affect his own chances too. So the polling unit will be well monitored and he will ensure there would be Agents of the APC on ground unlike 2011 where PDP had a field day stuffing ballot boxes with rigged votes.

The APC will have close to 40% votes in Akwa Ibom with the level of revolt against Akpabio in rhe state. The G-22 is equally a factor against Akpabio amd the PDP.

Indeed. Imagine how Boko Haram were quickly able to procure and use gas mask shortly after the USA decided to gas and knock them out so that ground offensive can then move in to rescue the girls? Those are the sort of things that should worry all decent Nigerians. We may love deceiving ourselves in Nigeria but the USA, and any serious nation for that manner, will justifiably not work with such a dangerous level of internal sabotage. This is the main reason the USA has washed its hands off helping Nigeria while GEJ is President.

The greatest fear, which is legitimate and justified, is that any weapon supplied to Nigeria may end up in the hands of Boko Haram. What will this then do to Nigeria considering that very powerful weapons could make Boko Haram considerably more dangerous and more deadly than the terror group is already? Any right-thinking Nigerian will appreciate that the USA acted responsibly and correctly given all that has happened.
