The last time I checked, this is African military and security thread NOT Nigerian. DHQ could buy a tank that flies or a WW1 tank, Kenyans, Saffas, Algerians and the rest of Africa don't give a fvck.
T90 T14 Abrams, the rest don't give a fvck, F 22 F 35 or Armstrong Whitworth Scimitar, the rest don't give fvck. And I am sure the Great Emperor Augustus will be rolling and cursing in his grave that somebody bearing his name is so stupid and self centered. Please Algerian, newafricaken continue posting those beautiful pictures. Ignore the cockroach in the room that claims to be an elephant.

How many T 72 nigerian army have in service ? found different numbers on internet
According to Wikipedia, it's 50 but some websites are saying 77.
But it's definitely not up to 100.

chunk of the money would be spent on the acquisition of military equipment and capacity building for the militaries of "neighbouring countries"

Nigeria demanded for in-flight evaluation of the jf17. Pakistan and China built the Jf17B based on customer request and some sources still claim jf17B already have a customer. Neither did Nigeria nor Pakistan ever specified the particular block/varient of JF17 we ordered for.
Nobody specified but according to how much we are paying, it's widely assumed it's block two.

We order 20 extra jf17 to add to 6 already then complement it with the yak130 or L15 jet at least 12. Then we turn our t55 to IFV. We MUST buy new tanks 150 t72 tanks from Russia would do for now. Some attack helicopters would do some good like the Russian black shark . The Army's aviation should be scrapped. $1b would do all this.
And I should stop
Nice write up until you mentioned 150 T72 TANKS and TO SCRAP ARMY AVIATION CORPS! unbelievable. T72 is about to turn into another curse just like hilux. Nobody goes for t72 again unless they are donated. We are in the era of T90 man. For Ifv we go for terminators. Our aviation Corps also get to say.

All JF 17Bs flying ( as test aircraft or evaluation prototypes) are Nigerian NAF property.
There are currently three jf 17b, one belongs to China while two belongs to Pakistan though they have no use for it because they transitioned their pilot from F16 to Jf17. jf17bs are meant for export but currently Nigeria have not ordered.

Nigeria's GDP was close to $600 billion but forex scarcity caused the naira to fall from N165/$ to N520/$ and as forex becomes more available we now see the naira rising to N360/$. Our reserve keeps growing and soon a new exchange rate would be announced.

IMF killed Egyptian currency and inflation is still over 30%. Egyptians economy is seriously in trouble and GDP is currently about $200+ billion. How will the economy triple in just 2 - 4 years?
It can happen Bro. In 2012 IMF said Nigeria will overtake SA in 2020, we overtook them in 2014.

Don't worry, our jf 17 will handle them... Oh wait they ve not arrived yet. The only thing to do is to pray to whatever God you believe in for their engine to malfunction. grin.

Seriously though, I wish the Air Force will be patient so we will go for jf 17 block 3. From its specifics, it's a 4.5 gen like the Gripen. Mass production should start by 2019.

Alcomsat-1 is the first Algerian telecommunications satellite. It is expected to operate in geostationary orbit for 15 years. Satellite carries Ku-band and Ka-band transponders for civil applications and X-band, UHF and EHF for the needs of the military and strategic state sectors.
How long did it take from build to launch?

The Algerians have every reason to highlight their sailing ship! There was a time when we Saffers had the only African Navy sailing ship and mentioning it here was anathema (that's how long I've been here). I'm immensely pleased another African Navy has taken up the baton, and the negative reactions have disappeared.
Couldn't find anything about it on the net, is it still in service?

Foreign exchange reserves VS externally held reserves!!! I'm no fan of Socrates but you guys should first define what you're discussing. It's what happens when the state doesn't fully disclose the books to its shareholders, the citizens.
Well, this is getting very confusing because according to CBN, they are all the same.

The buck stops on the ministry of defence and DHQ. Heck these two sit on their thumbs.

Yes Ministers come and go depending on the administration but there are posts like the perm sec that should be championing any long term plan.
It also seem there isn't real synergy between the ministry & DHQ. Just look at how much power the Pentagon wields and compare

Furthermore I wonder what assessments the National Security Council gives the president undecided .
Well about DHQ and power, when Boko Haram was at its height, a British military expert says the government is afraid of giving DHQ more power because those coups and counter coups of past is still fresh in their minds. And when you look at it he has a point.

it's funny but unprofessional, something really needs to be done about these soldiers. I am curious, is there no regulations for mobile phones or cameras in the Armed Forces, I watched a video couple of weeks ago about a soldier videoing himself during operations in sambisa forest.

Another reason why I shake my head that we have no ADS
The bad news is I don't see us with ADS is the near future. We need long term planning in our military and a strict policy that a change in command does not mean those project will be abandoned. That's one of the problems with Nigeria as a whole, every administration thinks they are better than the last. If only yar'adua continues from where obj stopped, then GEJ continues from yar'adua, then PMB continues from GEJ. Just imagine!

Which begs the question why Niger is allowing US to use armed drones in their country. The fact is US drones have killed and injured more civilians than terrorists. GEJ earned my respect for kicking US out of Nigeria. They always play a double game.

All year they have been seizing bulletproof cars.

I’m yet to understand the rationale behind this or what makes the cars liable to be seized. I hope they’re not just trampling on the work of honest hardworking people like in the days of OBJ just to announce a 1trn Naira revenue.

Unless these cars are stolen, anyone who imports these expensive vehicles clearly has enough funds to legally clear them.
Nobody is allowed to import anything armoured except with permit from the Office of the National security adviser
