Saw some MOPOL in Minna today with what can only be Beryl or an upgraded AK 103. Foldable stock, Picatinny rail, exactly like that of AFSF without the scope. Blue, red and white colored hilux with MOPOL written on the side and Commander written where the plate is.

I think what the police of DSS should do is to collect and harmonize data from INEC, NIMC, Banks (banks may refuse though), Immigration e.t.c. I think they would have the basic profile of more than 50% of the population when this is done. Then they can build from there. (my opinion).

Nigeria have a strict policy of not choosing sides. We have strong relationship with both Pakistan and India. Our military relationship with Pakistan does not necessarily mean we have abandoned India. India is currently the highest importer of Nigerian crude. Our NDA is modelled after India's NDA. Pakistan started importing LNG from Nigeria very recently. But the fact is Pakistan has stood by us through hard times. I will also like to point out that India is close to the west militarily, which means US and her allies have certain influence in India. When push comes to shove India will choose US and her allies over Nigeria. While on the other hand even though Pakistan receives aid from US, they have their own mindset. And right now Pakistan is looking to grow it's military complex through export of their products, which means we can get them fast, cheap and easily.

@jjphilips. Stop trying to make it sound as if Nigeria supporting Palestine have something to do with religion. "as long as we have a Sunni CIC". What the heck is that suppose to mean? OBJ committed Nigeria to Palestine. When did OBJ became a "Sunni CIC"? Like I said earlier Nigeria does not choose sides. We voted against Israel but we still have strong military and economic relationship with Israel. If we abandoned Palestine just because US said so is bad for our public image. It portrays Nigeria as an unreliable ally who change sides just because the wind blows in that direction. Nigeria is bidding for a permanent seat in UNSC, we already have the support of China. What do you think will happen if Nigeria started acting like puppet to US? If the UNSC is ever expanded to include African countries, China, Russia and the West will look to bring in the country with history of neutrality so as not to increase the influence of the other.

I am assuming most of those recruits will be armed with the tavor, doesn't that warrant us to have our own production line? Seeing that dicon plans to locally produce the Beryl m736 after only 2000 was procured. I am sure the number of tavor in service is already more than that.

You know I like to look at the financial side of things, NIS makes millions of dollars in revenue but it is not nearly enough to pay for new toys (ISR aircrafts and advanced EO to monitor our borders)
I think if they want more funding they should link our porous borders to proliferation of small arms, Boko Haram and human trafficking. Any ministry or government agency that can link their operations to the war on terror gets a far increase in extra budgetary fundings, it’s like Ronald Reagan and commies... I’m going off point
That couple with lobbying, Lobbying, lobbying... And more lobbying. Custom always announce how much was made every month, quarter and year. I just watched on AIT, their spokesperson said they generated a total of 1.037 trillion naira in 2017 (the highest ever) and they have been shouting about it up and down, in press release, in interview, Anytime an officer speaks with the media, they always use that opportunity to announce how much was made, what was recovered e.t.c. And he also said that they were promise more patrol vehicles and surveillance equipment by the president to generate more revenue. If you put a gun to my head and said "mention one achievement of NIS in 2017 or your life, unless my mama go born another one wey resemble me".

Believe me, Nigeria won't buy Russian stuff again after Super Tucano. One hour flying, five hours shutdown for maintenance..what rubbish.
Russian stuff are not industrial strength.

Most wars are three year, four year affairs and believe me, no Roossian plane can do what Alpha jets have been doing in terms of reliability day in day out for the past three decades. Russian aircraft will fall apart fast and before you know you start spending all your country's money on support.
In the area of support specifically, ordinary Ukraine, Belarus and Czech Republic are even more responsive on Russian aircraft than the Ruskies themselves. They have displayed more modification innovation and agile support capability for the third world than those funny mamushka/ papushka people.

I suspect Nigeria will keep trying for F16s, Tornadoes, Typhoons and Grippens for a long time. Sudanese, Chadian or whatever Russian scraps they are flying are no threats. I struggle to see these guys do bombing runs every week for two months in the event of war.

What i fear for Nigeria in West Africa are Rafales, Mirage 2000 and American MALE UAVs
While I agree Russians fighters are not as good as American fighters, they are by no means "Scraps". heck even Chinese fighters are not scraps. "Nigeria will keep trying for F16s e.t.c" have Nigeria shown interest in those aircrafts before that they will "keep trying"?

Let's be realistic. Just because it was developed 4 decades ago and available to over 20 countries doesn't mean it can't be classified as CLASSIFIED. There will always be an area where countries will have strategic and technological advantages over one another. More so, American's Department of Defense clearly stated in its letter to Senate that there are parts of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) to be sold to Nigeria that are considered "Classified."
Below is a screenshot to buttress my point.
HEY you there, how did you get that document, it's supposed to be classified. grin

Seriously though how did you get, I ve been searching for it since it was announced back in August.

So how much did Abacha loot?
When Nigeria cleared her debt with the Paris Club and other debtors, the FinMin Dr Okonjo-Iweala said Nigerian BoPs weren't impacted as the funds came from recovered military dictators' looted funds held abroad in foreign currency.

I just looked at US Treasury restricted accounts: $275m accruing to Nigeria. Not enough to pay for the Tucanos. More important though: this was seized after 2012, so from whom?
Not every Nigerian loot is from Abacha. There are ministers, directors, governors, head of different organizations with funds stashed outside Nigerian. Many Nigerians were implicated in Panama papers and the recent one too. (I've forgotten the name). just to know how worse it is, even the current Senate president is in Code of conduct bureau for not declaring his overseas assets and account.
Many people talk about how corrupt Nigeria is but to them it's just a statement. They don't live and experience it like Nigerians do. It's quite painful.
God just help Nigeria.

By far over $14 billion.

This guy died 20 years ago and we are still receiving looted funds. Even the Paris Club is returning money to Nigeria till date.
I think 14b is far fetched. Around 1. Something dollars in Swiss. I don't think the ones is US and UK are up to 5b dollars.
