TravelRe: Nigeria Ranked Among Countries With the Least Powerful Passports by ibrahimovic303: 9:43am On Oct 10, 2018
It is the reason why our brothers in diaspora will do ANYTHING to change this our useless passport, it has done more harm than good...Imagine recently when I arrived Finland, I faced a lot of queries and questions at the Helsinki airport because of green passport, while US/EU passport holders have it all easy....

This just came into my mind this morning while taking my bath....A lot of my brothers and sisters here want to relocate sharparly from Naija, which makes sense considering our current predicament, but please ask yourself carefully what you want in your life...Do you want to just live abroad permanently and never return home OR do you want to make a name for yourself abroad and come back to Naija as a king in any capacity? These questions should influence the type of job you get abroad or skills you should acquire and of course, the type of visa/resident permit...

The grass isn't always green on the other side. Money don't grow on trees abroad like some people are making it out to be. Don't be deceived by people who say they made lots of money within a short period of them moving abroad. Don't be fooled. It takes hard work, focus and the grace of God to make legitimate money abroad. A lot of people are lured abroad by the fairytales they heard of people making quick money there, but when they get there they find harsh and contrary realities staring them in the face. Who no go, no know. Before you jet out of Nigeria, have a compass of what you want to do wherever you're going. Get the right visa type because the life of an illegal immigrant an be very tough ( I'm speaking from experience). My first 'missionary' abroad was nice. I worked hard for three years plus and made quite some money with which I was able to help my family - mom, two older brothers and a younger sister. My second one was hell at the beginning because a supposed friend whose company I was using to extend my visa deliberately decided not use his company to extend my visa any longer because a female friend of his told him she liked me. Mind you this supposed friend of mine was already married to a citizen of the country we were in; and his wife was heavily pregnant at that time. My visa expired because of his unbelievable wickedness. So began my journey as an illegal immigrant. It was tough, men, because the fear of immigration police arresting me on my way to work, at work or at home. Anyways, I worked, prayed, worked and made enough money to set my family up good in Nigeria. I went back to Nigeria, chilled for a while then left for my third 'missionsry' journey 8 years ago. Today, I'm made through God's grace, hard work and the opportunities living abroad has offered me. I pray for radical and positive changes in Nigeria so that Nigerians would start to enjoy life more, and stop running abroad. Sometimes I miss 9ja!
Powerful story...God bless you and your persistence my man...

Your post was interesting until I read where your friend said... "Guy, God don do am for you, no come back this country again".
Is that your plan, to not return on a visit visa? That'll be bad of you. It'll make it harder for other Nigerians to obtain visit visas to schengen.
In addition, Schengen is not the US, no hiding place in schengen. You better not try it. They'll find you and ban you for ten years.

I recommend you visit Budapest, Hungary if you have time. I was there two weeks ago. It's about 2.5hrs by bus from Vienna. You'll fall in love with it. I preferred it to Vienna by far.
It's built for tourism, super cheap and the Hungarian forint is like the naira.
Enjoy
Guy really? I currently live in Finland and would want to a little around cheaper European destinations...I would check if there is any Easyjet flight from Vaasa to Budapest then, I go like buy clothes and things gan from there with higher spending power of Euro wink

I can say with certainty that the Finnish economy is way better than the Estonian own, however they are making massive strides in IT and are perhaps a little more outgoing than Finns....For their women, I nor know sha grin I have observed here that because most Finnish men are laid back and socially lacking, their women cling to confident foreigners whether black or white that would do the needful wink grin

Are students allowed to get credit cards? Outside Turku and Helsinki, which other major cities are conducive to students?
I´m not sure students can get credit cards, hopefully more legends in Finland can come and throw more light on this...Vaasa and Jyväskylä are other nice cities too, and of course, Seinäjoki...

Okay good thing you are waiting till after you get citizenship plus you don’t own an home so you won’t be tied down with a mortgage.
I love to network a lot, recently on a transit flight in Doha, I met a Nigerian who should be in his very late thirties or early forties who told me that as soon as he landed a big job with an International firm in London, he worked for two years, then immediately applied for a transfer back to their office in Abuja...he earns over two million per month now....Why wont life be better with that sum in Naija? compared to here where bills upon bills would suck all one´s earnings....that is food for thought for me though

Someone said something interesting on this travel section, he said if you are important to the white man, he or she has no other option than to agree to your demands, racism dies there, I agree with this...The key is to gather important skills in Nigeria before migrating, we really cannot overflog this issue, I knew of a smart yoruba guy that got International trucking licence in Lagos before relocating to Norway, currently, he drives trucks across the Nordics and is doing very well....

Firstly, apply for a course closely related or directly related to your BSc, http://www.studyinfinland.fi/ should be your best guide....But make sure you have good scores in your IELTS or TOEFL, then blow their minds with an earth shattering motivational letter...2:1 or 2:2, even third class wey package wella dey chop admission for here... grin

how did you migrate with your family to finland or rather how did you get your Finland visa. please share more information on this? you mean the only jobs migrants do over there is cleaning jobs?
I came as a student, so I followed the due process of admission etc...truth is this society is racist somewhat but if you can prove your competence in your art, you will thrive...but a large chunk of immigrants here are the cleaners, if you can learn something back home like crane driving or you are a mad programmer, you will thrive here Allah

but its harder getting a schengen visa from Nigeria na!!! ...one can get a job only in KIEV while in Ukraine ...uoi can use it as a stepping stone to Europe
I think if you are a footballer or so, it is easier there, because even lower leagues will feed you and provide accomodation and pay some little upkeep fee...Most students and hustlers there sef dey press, if not, OYO.

Ukraine is tough...I have few Ukr friends here in Finland working in farms mostly, they complain how shitty it is, I confirmed it when my Naija friend here in Finland sent 300euros to his cousin in Ukraine to pay his rent....If you can rugged your way into Poland, which is close, then Germany if you can, it is better

Very hard decision to make...Migration has actually broken more homes than we think, anyways if you are willing to do low jobs for a while and lead a peaceful life with your family, I subscribe you come to join us here in Finland. You can start low and build yourself within a short time, as far as you are hardworking. I know of a Kenyan couple here who have five cleaning jobs between them and have a palace of a home back in Kenya, they are still here to grab the last Euros before settling back home....Life is what you make of it Sir.
