Letter To The Northerners

Part II continues:

In Potiskum L.G.A of Yobe state, I met a very young almajiri, with whom I had a little interlocution with. He told me that he could not remember the face of his parents, for he was enrolled into the "Academy" at a very tender age. An average almajiri is exposed to the jaws of the streets stranded and hopeless. Their only survival kit is the plastic plate with which they beg for a daily bread. Many almajiris, when told there is no food after begging, and when beaten by severe hunger plead with the occupants of the house they're begging from to feed them from the scrap of the pot of the "finished food." How phatetic!
Since the outbreak of insurgency in north-eastern Nigeria in 2009, terrorists have devised many means of taking advantage of the vulnerable almajiris. The children are brainwashed and recruited into the "Carnage Army" of the insurgents. Some of the almajiris who are not recruited serve as "point and kill," in which they point out the residence or faces of the insurgents' targets, who will be taken to the great beyond. Some females from such homes also serve as baits with which the souls of people are taken from life to the hereafter. Such females are usually strapped with a bomb, which they hide under an hijab and detonate in public places. This has led to the sinister fear of Muslim women on veil, which is supposed to be an epitome of decency. The innocent children who are used as sucide bombers are not only indoctrinated but hypnotised. I remember a saga that occurred somewhere in the north in 2014. A boy was caught by security operatives with a bomb which he intended to implant in a mosque. The bomb was diffused, and the confused boy, who was identified as an almajiri claimed that the last thing he could remember was eating a date-palm given to him by two unknown men. This incident is also reminiscent to what happened in Maiduguri. The almajiri who was caught trying to explode a bomb in a mosque burst into tears. He said he was paid just N500 to kill souls that trillions of dollars can't buy. I don't blame the poor almajiri. It may be possible that he had never been given "so much" money in his life. Send your child to a school rather than an "Almajiri Academy" which only breeds ignorance and subjects children to a piteous condition.

Early marriage, though an extant practice peculiar to some African cultures is making greater waves in the north. While early marriage may be laudable eons ago, the practice sounds primitive to our generation. It is worth mentioning that the practice is not as bad as it is depicted here. Like I said in my last edition, everything in life can be screwed-up if not practiced or handled properly. The rate at which many people in the north marry is more than they blink their eyes. I've never been to a Friday prayer without hearing an announcement of many weddings scheduled for that day.....

I don't know why, but I tend to forget where I keep my stuff like key, earphone, phone etc. I may do something and forget about it seconds later, but not always. Ironically, I remember things like names of people, what people said and the faces of people eaisly and very accurately. I can still remember the surnames and names of my ex-classmates in secondary school perfectly.
The forgetting issue, however, petrify me a lot. What could be wrong please?

I am not a student of any of these institutions, but judged by the things I've read and heard about both schools, the University of Ibadan is definitely the best. Although, OAU was once considered the top-notch university in Nigeria, but the UI has beaten it hands-down in supremacy and quality.

This match reminds me of Germany's 7-1 annihilation of Brazil in the 2014 edition of the World Cup. It astounds me how teams like Panama, Saudi Arabia and Morroco made it to the competition when teams like Italy are left out in the dust.

Mine was very close!
In 2014, I was in Potiskum L.G.A of Yobe state. My mum sent me on an errand to the market. I was about going into the main market when something terrible, which I cannot perfectly describe happened. Human body parts, accompanied by flames and a loud explosion flared up; it was a bomb blast, and I was about going there. Cries of trepidation and agony rendered the air. My eyes were so red that day. My ears echoed the traumatic scene for many days. What got me really disturbed was a man whom I asked for directions. He was among those counted dead, after the blast reduced him to a very graphic sight.
We see things for north-east sha...

Inside a bus and I was about to come down. Although, there were ladies in the bus capable of waking up one's "chairman," but my thought wasn't drifted towards that. He is right. There are 360 joints in the human body. There are 86 skull joints, six throat joints, 66 thorax joints and 76 in your spine and pelvis. Also there are 32 in each upper limb and 31 in each lower limb. Two bones in our body meet to form a joint. Joints make our body flexible and to make movements. There are many different kinds of joints located in different parts of the body and responsible for different actions. These joints are Saddle joint, Pivot joint, Hinge joint, Fixed joint, Ellipsoidal joint, Ball and socket joint, Gliding joint, slightly movable joint and Spine joints.
